Chapter 4.2

Within five minutes we were striding into the dining hall while dinner was being served; the entire way, her fingers digging into my shoulders. She marches right up to Rickon at the head of the table containing Dark Moon Squad.

I couldn't look anyone in the eye, I cast my gaze at the floor, as too ashamed to look up. Yet I had no idea what I had to be ashamed of. "what have you done Rickon?! What have you done to a child?!" she asked, outraged. I flinched at her words echoes across the dining room and the room fell silent, Rickon slowly turned to face her, and shrugged.

"I don't know what you mean." He says, without naming her rank as if to provoke her further.

"you know what I mean. This mark!" she roughly shoves me forward, pointing at my back; to prove her point she pulls my shirt up, "this!"

"that is my solider. He killed a man and he must wear it like the rest of my squad."

"he's a child!" she repeated, she was losing her thread, her anger had got to her and now she was unravelling. Her grip on my shoulder loosened.

She wasn't going to get through to him, he who collectedly replies with "I don't see you point. He was given to me, and now he is mine to do with what I please."

"he's not an object!" she screamed. The entire room watched as her outrage fell on deaf ears.

"he was given to me as a tool and I will use him as such. Our army does not negate the use of child soldiers, in fact it is encouraged, or have you forgotten that?"

Her expression is flustered as she searches the room for some support, but I know she wouldn't get any, these men were not her friends- behind her back they ridiculed her even before this spectacle.

"Brat! Come here!" he snaps at me, and as the Captains grip goes limp I slowly step away from her and reluctantly join at Rickons side. I watch her face, uneasily, with fear and concern. "I think you should leave him alone from now on." He suggested with a sharp undertone to his voice.

Captain doesn't reply, but with an empty expression she turns tail and slumps away and I find myself unable to look in her direction, instead I watch my feet and move where I'm shoved. "You will not to see her or talk to her again." he tells me, and I nod, knowing that I couldn't disagree. But all the same, my chest ached from agreeing with him.

Three weeks after this incident, the Captain vanished. I was careful never to ask about her in the presence of Rickon, but I didn't get any information even when I did. Then a few days after her disappearance, Jay handed me a rucksack "we were informed she wanted you to have it." Was all he said.

Inside, was more resources to help me read and three pairs of clothes. There was no note.

Years later I came to the conclusion she was sent on a suicide mission due to erratic behaviour and failed missions.
