chapter five

Baili has just been admitted to the Avax City Academy. The school is easily the top school in Avax, with children from various factions and families in the city and surrounding areas, all sent there.

He was given a card containing his room number. The card displayed Room 180, Lion Cub Building, signifying both his room number and the building's name.

He couldn't determine which one was the Lion Cub Building.

Some are looking at him, whispering, 'Look at this guy, is he new?'

"But it's not yet time for the selection exam. How come there is a new student?" one of the students pointed out.

"Yes, I am sure he is new. I have never seen his face before, and besides, can't you see the room address slip he is holding?" one of the students replied.

"He must have probably pulled some strings," another student added.

There are many buildings in the academy. Baili didn't care at all. He walked towards a boy who is staying on his own. The boy is about twelve years of age, and he looked calm.

"Hello, I am Baili," Baili introduced himself to the boy.

The boy smiled and gave a kind smile. "I am Diego; you are most probably new."

Baili nodded, "Yes, and I am looking for this building."

"Oh! Let me see," the boy took the slip from him and studied it.

"Lion Cub Building, Room 108. That's actually my room. Looks like we are roommates. Come, let me take you there," Diego said.

Baili nodded, and he was glad to have found someone he could rely on. He happily followed the boy with his luggage.

There are many buildings in the academy. Baili and Diego passed numerous buildings before reaching the Lion Cub Building.

The Lion Cub Building is actually nothing impressive; it's just a tall building and looks average amidst the other buildings in the school.

In the room, it was divided into three portions, with a boy resting on one of the beds.

Diego walked towards him and kicked him. "Ramuel, wake up; we have a new roommate."

The boy, Ramuel, got up. He looked around twelve. "Huh! Has the sun risen from the West? How come there is a new student at this time?" The boy looked quite confused.

"Get up, you fool; he is probably somebody important," Diego rebuked him.

Ramuel got up, looking like he had been wronged. He looked at Baili, scrutinizing him.

"You look barely ten. How come you are enrolled? I thought the requirement for being enrolled in the academy is to be at least at the eighth level of body tempering. Has it also changed?"

Diego got angry as he kicked Ramuel, who is just standing. "Fool, that is most probably because he has reached the eighth level."

Ramuel looked wronged again; he looked at Baili and asked, "Are you really ten, or are you cheated by nature?"

"I am ten years old, of course; you most probably haven't seen any talents; that's why you are confused," Baili teased.

Ramuel looked at Diego, "Huh, this friend sure knows how to brag; why don't you wait until you see the real monsters in our school."

Baili only laughed it off, he looked around, looking at a bed in the corner which looked clearly untouched. Pointing at the bed, he asked, "Is that my own portion?"

"Sure," Diego nodded.

Baili kept his luggage and arranged his things. Once done, he followed Diego and Ramuel to the classroom. Because Baili entered the school when there is no admission going on, he has to stay with the set that entered last eight months ago, which happened to be Diego and Ramuel's set.

They walked towards the classroom together. Reaching a large field that looked like a ring, Diego introduced, "This is the fighting arena. The school prohibits in-fighting. If you have a grudge with someone, you can only issue a letter of challenge to the academic elder in charge of the fighting arena.

The elder will send it to the recipient. If the letter is accepted, then you will fight in this arena. Inside the arena, you can be as cruel as you want. Just make sure you don't kill the opponent or seriously cripple him."

Baili gained insight. Normally, this is a cultivation school where martial arts are the main focus. It would be surprising if there was such a thing as in-fighting.

"Oh, what's that?" Baili pointed at the arena. Two youths were making their way towards the arena. The one in front looked furious and angry, while the one in the back wearing a purple robe had his hands behind him as he walked in a very arrogant posture. There was disdain for the man in front on his handsome face.

His bearing is that of an arrogant young master. The first youth entered the ring, urging the purple-robed man to step in. There was a woman with the purple-robed youth, wearing a flaming red dress, with strategically exposed areas, enhancing her beauty and making her alluring and irresistible.

"What the, that purple-robed man is Changho, who is the number 22 in the earth ranking, and the girl with him, that is obviously Rashida, the girl that ranks thirty-two." Diego couldn't stop talking.

Ramuel looked at the two who were about to fight. "But why are the two fighting?"

"Indeed," Diego said, nodding.

Baili observed without saying much.

In the ring, the man called Bai Cho looked at the purple-robed youth as he roared, "Changho, after taking my woman, you dare target my flaming grass root, and even sent the woman I once loved to obtain it from me. Today, I, Bai Cho, am going to make sure that you crawl out of this ring."

"Bai Cho, don't you think you brag too much?" the youth called Changho said arrogantly, 'indeed I really do want your flaming grass root, but that is because it could only be useful to me."

The crowd burst out. The flaming grass root is a very important medicinal plant and is not easily found. It enables one to directly break one or two levels in the spirit-gathering realm. Bai Cho must have acquired it unintentionally.

But for Changho to openly covet it showed how arrogant he is and how much disdain he holds for Bai Cho. He even sent Bai Cho's past woman. There is no man that could take this lying, especially proud ones like Bai Cho.

Some business-minded students immediately opened a betting platform. It was actually a common occurrence in the school. Whenever there's an important fight in the academy, especially between those that have high rankings, some students will open a betting platform.

The betting ratio is 1:1 for Changho's win, Bai Cho's odds are quite high; it seems like they do not hold much hope for him.

Diego and Ramuel placed a bet. The bet was made with ten energy crystals. Baili was given two hundred energy crystals by Javis. He must have borrowed it from the middle-aged man.

He stepped forward and voted Bai Cho wins over Changho. He even used a hundred spirit energy crystals.

The owners of the betting platform all had a smile on their faces. It seems like they hit big this time around. Baili's action drew the attention of the crowd.

"Who is this fool? Doesn't he have anywhere else to spend his money?" one of the students said.

"He is the new student that we talked about," another whispered.

"Oh, I see. I wonder how such a fool could have entered our school. He must have probably pulled some strings."

The commotion caught the attention of Changho and Bai Cho. Changho gave Baili a wicked look, while Bai Cho only gave an indifferent look.

Changho swaggered into the ring, and the elder in charge rang the bell.

Bai Cho made his move by using a movement technique to approach Changho. His movement technique looked beautiful and flawless, and even the crowd was moved.

Changho delivered a powerful punch infused with spiritual energy. Both of them were in the second realm of spirit gathering. Bai Cho pulled out a saber and met his punch with a saber attack. There was a "clang" sound as the two of them were forcefully pulled back by each other due to the rebounding force from their clash.
