53 Chapter 53 - Eureka Moments

"So… What do you think of the new story…?"

Josiah is in deep thought.

"You know what? It's better than the first one. This would actually work."

"EH?!! Really? You like it?"

"Yes. It has humor, and there's a lot of mystery in it like, who exactly is Monami? Where did she came from? Is she a friend or a foe? How can she give extraordinary powers to Lance? What is that monster? Where did it came from? Is it the only one, or are they many? Why did it attack Lance? Whose behind all of these? Who helped Lance? Etc. I can make a game out of this. You may not be conscious of it, but you're bench-marking, Teslan."

Silence…

"Huh…? What does that mean?"

"Bench-marking is a Business Marketing Term. You're not actually copying an existing product or service, you're just creating a new variant, a new brand, a generic item, or a derivative."

I guess my face looked so confused to him.

"For example, Toblerone and Hersheys. They're both chocolates, right? But they're still different at the same time. The two have different brand name, different shape, and different recipes on making their chocolate, but they're still chocolate nonetheless. Another example, Cloud Flakes Biscuits and Lucky Biscuits. The first one is the popular brand and the second is the cheaper alternative. But they're still the same: Plain Soda Crackers. The same thing goes with your new story. Bleach is the famous paranormal/action anime title that millions of people knew, while yours almost have the same genre, same theme, but it has a different title and a unique story. You get what I'm saying? Bleach can't file a copyright lawsuit against you because they cannot claim the whole paranormal genre. There are thousands of titles out there with the same paranormal theme like Ghost Fighter, Shaman King, Soul Eater, Noragami, Ghost Busters, Danny Phantom and so much more."

"I think I'm finally getting it."

"Good. Keep on writing and send the chapters on my e-mail."

"Huh…? But why?"

"Vacation's over. While you were writing, I've reached out to my old contacts. I'm heading back to the city and meet up with the game developers this afternoon."

Josiah stood up.

"Follow me."

We got out of the home-trailer and went to its side compartments.

"All the tools and necessary materials you need are on those boxes. Let's set up your work shop. :)"

We carried the heavy boxes inside a spare room of my parent's ancestral home and opened it all up.

"I leave this under your care. I know they're brand new, but don't hold back. Use them all."

"I promise I won't break them."

He smiled.

"If you need some cash, call me. Let's always keep in touch. Video call me anytime of the day. Report your daily progress, discoveries, or breakthroughs, no matter how small, okay?"

"You got it."

He offered his right hand.

"See you after four months."

(Teslan's thoughts: FOUR MONTHS?!! BUT YOU JUST SAID WE HAVE FIVE MONTHS!!! Oh, wait… The remaining month would be for the beta test of the game and the trial run of the wireless electricity transfer system… We're both under the gun, huh…?)

I didn't left him hanging. I firmly shake his hand.

"Wish me luck."

======================================================

(5 Months Later…)

Nikola Tesla is indeed, way too advanced for his time…

Even before Quantum Physics was born, he's already thinking about it.

Erase that. He's already doing a practical, real life application of Quantum Physics. The Wardenclyffe Tower is the proof of that.

But…

He was limited by the technology of his time. That's why he failed…

And that's where I come in.

When I finished the game story (The easiest part of our plan), I quickly started studying the photocopied blueprints Josiah gave me. For a whole month, I'm on my wits end. I couldn't figure it out. I couldn't complete the formula. Even with a wide array of references and textbooks to Nikola Tesla's lifework, I couldn't fill the missing half of the blueprints.

I almost gave up.

Tired and stressed out, I turned on the music player and soaked in the hot spring for a long time to clear my mind.

But of course, it's futile. Worry and anxiety never left me.

"How on freaking earth can I make a wireless electrical transfer system possible?"

"I only have three months left. Without a doubt, Josiah will do his part. He had done this before when he was on Oogle. He can make my game real, no doubt about it. But how about me? Can I fulfill my end of the bargain…?"

"Without a working formula, I can't build the gaming accessories or the tower itself. I don't know what to do anymore…"

I lied down my tired head on a smooth rock slab, stared at the cloudless blue sky, and listened to the soft music playing on the speaker, totally lost in my thoughts…

And then, it hit me…

Nikola Tesla always worked with radio waves and high frequencies. The Wardenclyffe Tower is originally meant to transfer electrical power AND telecommunication or radio signals from land to sea…

Oh my goodness…

HE'S PLANNING TO COMBINE THE TWO!!! NIKOLA TESLA IS TRYING TO CREATE AN ENERGIZED HIGH FREQUENCY RADIOWAVE!!! It's absolutely ingenious… Electricity dissipates and can never travel through the air, but radio waves, on the other hand, can travel thousands and thousands of miles. By combining the two, electric power plus high frequency radio waves, we're changing the form of electrical energy, making it harmless and giving it the ability to travel through the winds, from Point A to Point B... It doesn't necessarily have to be a straight line... The electric power can travel like a spherical pulse, wave upon continuous wave of radio-electric energy with intervals of less than a microsecond to allow continuous flow of power…

Oh my goodness… It's a Quantum Leap…

NIKOLA TESLA IS TRYING TO MIMIC THE SUN!!! BUT HIS WAS AN ELECTRO-STAR!!! RADIATING WAVES OF RADIO-ELECTRIC ENERGY!!! NO WONDER ALL THOSE TESLA COILS HAVE A METALLIC SPHERE ON ITS TOP! IT'S TO ALLOW AN OMNIDIRECTIONAL FLOW OF ENERGY!!!

Because of this discovery (Big thanks to Nikola Tesla), like a long lost missing puzzle piece finally found, everything fell into place.

The rest, now with a working principle, was never easy, of course.

But it finally became possible.
