Future

As I sat there going through Sosuke's old memories, it came to me that I'd have to accept his identity rather than mine. After all, I couldn't tell everyone that my name was John could I? That would be weird, but I felt that with 5 years of experience being called Sosuke I'd adapt rather quickly.

Now you might ask yourself how I knew that I was in the Naruto world in the first place, after all, I could just be in a random place that also happens to have ninjas. Well, the big mountain with 4 carvings of faces told me all I needed to know.

Present right outside the window of our room was 4 faces carved on the side of a mountain. All of them seemed to have their own charm and attraction. Seeing them in the flesh, well stone to be specific, but as a 3d object rather than just something on a screen, brings a different type of emotion. They looked so imposing, each and every one of them, even the one I knew to be gentle and kind, the 4th Hokage Minato Namikaze.

This also told me all I needed to know about the current part of the plotline I was present in, as the 5th Hokage Tsunade is not present on the mountain. To be fair, I can also glean how my parents died 5 years ago as well, by going through the description that the matron gave to me beforehand, I was not the only one whose parents tragically died about 5 years ago.

It seemed to be a very common occurrence, and she explained the fact that the orphanage was so full after that incident. She wouldn't exactly mention it, but I figured that it was the night the 4th Hokage died, and the night the Kyuubi descended on Konoha Village to reap lives.

As I figured out the current part of history I was in, the world I was in, and the village, I started thinking about my role here. I mean, what am I supposed to do in the ninja world? Sure, it seems valiant to become an all-powerful ninja, but am I ready to do so?

These questions were going through my head, and I didn't exactly know the answer then. I didn't want to not try, as that would be sure to leave regrets in my heart, especially considering my, John's, old dream of becoming a professional fighter or athlete. To feel one's blood pumping as one competes with others, truly does have a certain charm that nothing can replicate.

But at the same time... putting one's life on the line every single time they execute a mission or leave the village, some even losing their lives in training, also wakes me up from my current unrealistic dream. I mean, I've never even been in a fight, much less a battle to the death or war.

I didn't know what my future path would be, but at the moment, that was not the most important concern in my head. While all of this was going on, the matron woke up all the kids and announced,

"Time for breakfast kids. Freshen up and hurry!! First come, first serve"

The kids, including myself, found ourselves rushing toward the bathrooms at that point. I knew where they were because of Sosuke's memories, and the daily routine of running toward them was also ingrained in his body.

Mentioning his body reminds me that I am in a foreign body at the moment, and when I try to run towards the bathroom, I find myself falling flat on my face. The kids step over my body to keep running, not without a laugh of course.

"Hahaha look Matron, Aizen fell on his face!"

"Keke, nice one Aizen"

"Yeah, good job dummy"

This was not a good start to my morning. It was all fun and games, but I learned that the current coordination of my body was not stellar, or even on par, and that seemed to be troublesome. I got up and found a line leading to the bathrooms, with some kids complaining about their place. and others celebrating their quick feet.

I, of course, was last in line, and as I stood there in my thoughts, I began to do small actions to get used to my body. I don't know if I'm going to pursue the path of a ninja yet, but I would not accept not even having basic body coordination. I would move my fingers, head, feet, basically whatever I could move, and started doing small hops as well.

As the line advanced and it was my turn to go to the bathroom, I gained a basic usage of my body and stuff. It wasn't exactly what it was before, but with Sosuke's memories merged with mine I also had some experience with this body, just that I had to attain some with John's mind too.

I entered the bathroom and noticed that it wasn't as old as I thought it would be. There was a mirror, toilet, sink, soap, and a towel. Basically, everything a modern bathroom has, which came as a surprise to me.

While I admired the bathroom, I finished doing the business, and yes I did need to do the business and stood in front of the mirror. What greeted me was a somewhat pale, black-haired, brown-eyed, cute kid staring back at me. I had seen my current appearance from Sosuke's memories, but not with my own eyes.

I was a pretty cute kid, and I could see that I would grow up to be handsome too. My pale skin seemed to come from a lack of exposure to the sun rather than it being my original skin color. I needed to work on that, lack of sun exposure wasn't good after all. With all that said and done though, I was satisfied with viewing my appearance, and I hurried to get some breakfast.

Second chapter, done. As I go deeper into the chapters and away from the world building, I'll make sure to extend the chapter length.
