The Spa- Chapter 18

After we both washed up, we sat down in the chairs. Smiling and giggling the entire time, we tried our best to follow the tutorial.

"Somni that's not how you do it!" Maddie yelled before laughing. I had taken of the lip of the container and had pored some of the mystery product on my hand. I sniffed it.

"What are you talking about! I have to open the lid first!" I said. Maddie grabbed my hand before pouring have of the liquid on her hand.

"Hey! Get your own!" I said pulling my hand back. She looked at me before explaining.

"That was a serum! You don't need that much, it's already packed with ingredients." She said. I made an "o" sound before looking at her.

"So how do I put it on?" I asked. She closed her eyes before smacking her face.

"Like this." She said demonstrating. My face turned sour.

"Why would I beat myself up just to look better??" I said. She laughed again.

"No! It's to make sure that your face soaks it up before we move on to our next step." She said, still smacking her face. I looked at her, still in disbelief.

"I'm sueing if I get brain damage from this." I mumbled. Maddie snorted before opening her eyes to face me.

"But you already do." She said matter-a-factly. I rolled my eyes but didn't respond.

"But you already do." I said mocking her. Making a weird expression. We started laughing again.

After spending the next hour putting on all the steps in order, we finished putting everything on. I sighed tired.

"Gosh! How can you do that for an hour straight! I feel like my face is swollen." I said. Maddie snickered.

"That's cause you were actually slapping yourself." She said. I rolled my eyes.

"Alright! So now what?" I said. She looked at me.

"Can we re-build the fort? It looked so cool." She said. I turned to face her, gasping offendedly.

"We just spent hours slaving away taking that thing down and now you want to-"

Before I could finish my speech, Maddie threw a pillow at me.

"Just get the blankets and stop being dramatic." She laughed. I rushed to grab them.

By the time I returned to the living room, Maddie had put the chairs and tables away.

"How are you so fast?" I said. She shrugged before grabbing one of the blankets to help me set up. I walked to the corner of the room and was tucking the blanket under the couch so it would stay in place. A glimpse of the slide door caught my attention.

It was still sunny out, and the sand yellow beach complemented the blue waters perfectly. I squinted my eyes. A certain black colored fin poking out of the water. I slowly got closer, trying to get a better look.

A hand pat my shoulder. I jumped startled.

"Sorry!" Maddie said quickly retracting her hand. "I didn't mean to scare you. You alright?" She said. I gulped before nodding.

"Y-Yea, Sorry about that." I said, before turning to continue putting up the blanket. Maddie went back to putting her side up but didn't exactly believe me.

"You sure? You look a little pale." She said. Tucking the corned of the blanket tightly in between the couch.

"No, it's cool I'm fine. Really." I said. She quickly dropped the topic. I sighed. Glancing back at the screen door, there was the mystery plant he had given me, sitting in the corner between the house and the small stairway to the boardwalk. Where the sun wasn't able to get to it, but the cool breeze was. Maddie returned to my side, looking in the direction I was looking at.

"Whatcha looking for?" She said. Taking a quick look, a gasped escaped her lips. She suddenly froze

"What? Where did you get that from?" She said. I turned to look at her confused.

"What do you mean? The flower?" I said. Her ears perked up as she looked at me.

"Can I, take a closer look?" She sad. I looked at her confused but nodded none the less. Opening the slide door for her, she crouched down next to it.

"What? Do you know what it is?" She said. She nodded her head before turning to look at me seriously.

"How did you get this?" She said. I looked at her shocked, unprepared for the sudden interrogation.

"I-I can't remember, someone gave it to me a while ago..." I lied. "Why do you ask?"

"Somnium, this is the Clavem Abscondita." She said. I raised a brow.

"Am I supposed to know what that means just because my name is Latin?" I asked clueless. She rolled her eyes before explaining.

"It's called a Clavem Abscondita." She repeated with perfect pronunciation. "It means hidden key. But it's only found thousands upon thousands of feet below water. No human could possibly get it and be able to come back alive, they would die from water pressure." I slowly realized what she was saying. She turned to look at me again.

"Somnium. How did you get it?"
