The Scary Man- Chapter 8

I walked home from the party, I didn't bother saying bye to Amy or any of her friends. My mind was thinking of ways I could help Fulcrum. I thought back to how he reacted when I told him he had to leave, or well, how he didn't react. I went to check on the plant he had given me.

It looked like it was almost fully grown. It had only been less than two weeks from when he had given it to me. I gently tapped one of the turquoise colored leaves. It had a bright fiery reddish flower that looked as if it was almost glowing.

Standing up, I walked upstairs and went to my room to shower.

After what felt like hours of waiting, I looked out of my window to see that the party was finally over, everyone had gone home. I quickly put on my slippers and checked the time, it was already 7pm, but the sky was still bright. Putting on the warmest and fluffiest pajama pants I had, I ran out of the house and quickly ran towards the beach, looking around. Fulcrum was still no where to be found. I decided to check towards the deeper part of the beach, where the water was less shallow, near a bunch of rocks. Climbing up carefully, I found a safe spot to stand as I looked down into the water. But still, I couldn't see anything.

"Find him?" Someone said from behind me. Startled, I screamed before turning around to slap them. I gasped loudly recognizing who it was. The old man from before.

"Oh my god! I'm so sorry! Y-you just scared me!" I tried to explain. "Are you alright?" I asked. Rubbing his cheek he stared at me with anger. He pointed his finger to me.

"You crazy girl! What is wrong with you!" He yelled. My heart beat sped up as I waited for him to scream again.

"I'm gonna sue you for all your sad thing of a mother's got!" He yelled. I looked at him confused.

"How do you know my mom?" I asked him. He didn't answer. Instead he got angrier.

"How dare you question me little girl! Come with me now or else!" He shouted before grabbing my wrist. I didn't know where he was taking me and anyone in there right mind would have screamed.

"Let go of me you nut job! I said sorry already!!" I scooted backwards while pulling my arm. He didn't let go but instead, used his other arm to pull me.

"I'm going to have you arrested you rugrat!" He screamed again. His voice morphing into something less humane. His finger nails digging in my arm.

"I said let go off me you weirdo! Let go!" I yelled back.

The wet rocks made it harder for me to keep my balance. I then thought of something. It was insanely stupid and I could die from it but, I would rather die than go with this crazy old man anyway. As soon as I managed to fight out of his grip, I ran towards the water. But before I could jump, he grabbed my shirt and pulled me back harshly. I screamed.

"Where do you think your going huh? To your little mermaid friend, mmh?" He whispered in my ear. His breath reeking of black licorice. I wanted to puke.

"God you are insane! What the hell are you on!" I tried to fight out of his grip before I saw my moms car pulling up to the house.

"Mom! Mom! There's a crazy person!" I yelled while fighting out of his grip. She got out of her car but didn't hear or see me. She had her headphones in and was smiling, probably expecting for me to be in the house.

"Mom!" I yelled as loud as I could, tears started running down my face as I screamed and kicked. I was getting tired quickly, and my throat was starting to hurt. I elbowed, kicked, scratched, bit, and punched him but as if he was not human, he didn't even flinch. His arms looked too long and slender to be anything close to a human. I cried louder.

"God damnit! I said let go of me!" I even started punching his hands, pulling his fingers back as far as I could but nothing worked. I shut my eyes tightly as I felt myself being dragged off the rocks.

"Finally stop trying-" just as he got closer to my head, I smashed my head back as hard as I could, smacking him in the nose. Wincing, his arms retracted briefly. Taking the chance, I ran for the water, not even thinking of it before I threw myself from the rocks. The loud splash into the ice cool water made me shiver. The impact of the water feeling like sharp cold needles piercing my skin. I felt myself slowly sink to the bottom of the beach floor, it was freezing cold, and I was too exhausted to even lift my arms to try and swim up.
