CHAPTER ELEVEN

When Elixir got the call from the girl that helped her, she was very happy. She blamed herself for not collecting the girl's number because it wasn't everyday she meets people that wants nothing from her.

The girl didn't know she was Elixir Yagazie, a multi-billionaire popularly called the boss lady. To McKenna she was Lisa, a helpless old lady.

Due to having a lot of symposiums to attend in other places besides hearing her son's presentation, Elixir decided not to stay in her son's hotel, instead she stayed in her estate in Lekki. Elixir dressed up and applied make up.

She was going to get McKenna to marry her son in a few years when McKenna is old enough. At least now she had a good reason to allow her son to continue his behavior of treating women like they aren't worth much. Jason might not know this but his philandering ways did not escape his mother.

Jason might not deserve the kind hearted girl but Elixir like every mother still wants the best for her baby even when he is undeserving.

Elixir met McKenna at the same restaurant they had their alcohol and milkshake the previous day. Elixir was casually dressed in a black gown and sanders with diamond earrings.

McKenna sat near the Shawarma kiosk and she saw when Elixir came in.

"Hi, Mrs. L I'm over here" McKenna waved cheerfully.

"How are you, my dear?" Elixir asked as she made her way to McKenna and sat down

"Good evening ma. You look stunning" McKenna complimented

"Thank you. You don't look bad yourself" Elixir complimented too and mckenna smiled

"Waiter" McKenna called the girl that had a tired look on her face and they ordered.

Elixir watched the girl as she made orders for both of them. She smiled easily and she had a likable quality but she has baggage and lifelong scars that will take love and care to heal. Something Elixir will make sure she gets if she becomes her daughter-in-law.

"You know today, my son called me mom. He hasn't called me that since he was 17 years old, now it is always mother like a title and that title holds no emotion. But today he showed real concern for my health and in a very long time we didn't part ways in a bad term" Elixir said and smiled.

The waiter dropped one large size chicken Shawarma and fish barbecue on the table. Elixir opened the wrapped fish barbecue and took a bite, shockingly it tasted good. McKenna opened her chicken Shawarma and ate hungrily as she talked too.

"So, you took my advice" McKenna as she ate.

"Yeah… I told him that he is my greatest achievement and he looked surprised. I thought he knew" Elixir said

"Sometimes, even when people know something, they still want to hear it" McKenna said

They talked for a while and Elixir made certain not to let her identity slip. Elixir enjoyed having a makeshift daughter.

McKenna told Elixir about her best friend, Elena.

"I will be leaving for Abuja tomorrow morning, do you stay in Lagos?" Elixir asked

"So Soon… I still have few days to stay in Lagos but I stay in Abuja too. Maybe we could see each other again, if you don't mind ma" McKenna said fairly sure Elixir will object.

"I would love that very much and bring Elena with you too" Elixir said

Elixir's phone rang and she excused herself to take the call.

"Hi, Veronica…it's too late in the day to be making a social call" Elixir said

"I am really sorry ma'am but this particular matter cannot wait. It is the orphanage ma'am. We are in trouble" Veronica said over the phone

"I will you call back Veronica"

Elixir had an apprehensive look on her face as she walked up to McKenna and took her bag.

"I'm sorry my dear but there is an emergency I have to attend to. Give me a call when you are in Abuja and stay out of trouble" Elixir said

"Okay, Mrs. L. Do have a safe trip tomorrow"

As soon as Elixir got to her car, she placed a call to Veronica that lasted for about one hour and after the call with Veronica, she called her son but got his voicemail.

"Jason…its mom, give me a call as soon as you can. It is an emergency'

Elixir got home around 8:37 pm. She entered her room and ordered her staff not to disturb her for the remainder of the night; she asked her dinner to be left on the dining table in case she feels like eating in the middle of the night.

Around 11 pm, Elixir heard a knock on the door and she stood up ready to take the head of the staff that dared ignored her orders. When she opened her bedroom door, she was surprised.

"Jason! Come inside child"

"What is happening, mother? You sounded weird over the phone" Jason said as he looked around the dark room before switching on the light.

Elixir's eyes were red and puffy. Jason has never seen his mother cry.

"Mom, are you alright? Why are you crying?" Jason asked.

Elixir wanted to deny that she has been crying but what was the point? She sniffed and tears came pouring down her cheek again. Jason went to his mother's side under a second and hugged her. He was determined to hold her for as long as it took for her to calm down.

"It is okay, mom. Whatever it is, I will make it better for you"

"He took it all" Elixir said as she tries to control her tears "He embezzled the whole fund for Hope for all Orphanage"

"Grandma's charity organization" Jason said more to himself than his mother.

"Your father bankrupted the orphanage, Jason"

"I am really sorry, mom. I have a lot to say about that…that…man but it ends with the word divorce"

"I can't divorce him. I need to go to Malawi but I can't, not without crippling the new company we just opened in Niger state that will give jobs to so many unemployed indigenes. I have no idea what I am going to do" Elixir said

"I will go on your behalf then. How long do you think it will take to rebuild? Two months…three months" Jason asked.

"More like two to three years. You have to save your grandmother's orphanage and you have to leave Nigeria for Malawi tomorrow, Jason"
