2 Tutorial

When Corvus waited he doosed of at some point and the ringging of his phone brought him out of his sleep.

Looking at the clock after powering up the standby screen it showed only 15 minutes remaining until the transport to the other dimension.

Stretching himself again and yawning he stood up and went over to his kitchen.

Being there he opened his refrigerator and took out something to eat. That pile of food soon made a chaotic tower on the kitchen table.

Sitting down he started wolfing down most of it at a pace that was commendable and even scary to some degree.

Taking his last gulp of milk he burped and smiled satisfied.

'Now I don't need to worry about food for the next few hours and got enough strength to boost my mana expenditure in the upcoming hours.'

All this was just preparation. To make the best out of everything he made sure to overeat himself so that his energy reserves stayed at max nonstop.

Mana in this world did exist but it was rare energy that could easily be depleted if one had no way of circulating the energy inside the body.

That problem could be easily fixed by creating an energy core vortex that slowly absorbed some of the surrounding mana to replenish the own batteries.

But that knowledge in doing so is already lost by most wizard families. And you don't really expect everyone to be able to have a magical aptitude in the first place.

It was a rare gift that not even 0,000001% of the human populace had.

So barely about a million people had the aptitude for magic. And even that varied greatly in strength. To that, there is also the awareness of said people to magic. Not every one that possessed it would also notice its presence.

That made creating a reliable method for cultivation and nurturing nearly impossible.

Well, mages like Merlin or Morgana for example were famous enough to be remembered in the mythological sagas of Brittania.

Was it true? Well, it was debatable. But Corvus had to believe in magic at least. He accepted the spark of truth was a lot greater after having his own magic.

That is at least the magic world of this realm.

The world he wants to travel to is by far better of with mana there is abundant. The gift of magic also greatly amplified to about 10% of the populace.

That is at least if he had to gauge the pure mage population.

If he also had to consider skills and such then at least about 80% of the people living there had aptitudes with some kind of mana-induced special trait.

Not only is plain magic present but there are still gods roaming the realm and mixing themselves in the affairs of humanity.

In the current world...Corvus had to think that the gods probably already abandoned humans. To the point that now some gods from another realm reach out to them and try to get their help.

'...'

Thinking about all this Corvus could only sigh.

The clock was ticking and soon the phone vibrated again to signal the time was ready.

It remained there moving on the table without anyone touching it ever again.

Corvus was already gone and had been transported by blue light into a replica of his own home.

Beside him lay another phone that was not his own. Picking it up he looked at the screen.

[Individual Confirmed. User registration has been completed.]

It already had displayed that a message had been sent and that he should read it. So he clicked at the mail icon that was blinking with a 1 on its corner.

He had to give those gods some credit for being able to replicate his whole home and even such technology to this extent.

[Sender: Guide]

[Welcome, Candidate.]

[1. Arrive at the Paradise High School Auditorium within the displayed time.]

[2. Time remaining: 0:09:47]

Underneath that text was a map.

"This is different..." Corvus remembered his first time being sent to this place and it was obviously different this time around. "Guess they change the location every time. Anyway, looks like I need to move now if I want to get there in time. At least this replica of an apartment was copied in a reasonable distance from the target."

That being said, when he moved after picking up his trenchcoat he was nearly late at the auditorium and only had 25 seconds left on the clock.

In front of him stood a small blond-haired woman clothed in a dress that would otherwise be worn by those female employees that served in planes or high-class trains.

He looked at her and smiled. It was easy to see her being of European descent. She noticed his look and seemed to be curious. She leaned her head sideways and had a perplexed expression.

That got Corvus out of his little stare. And since Corvus already knew this was a guide he only took out his folded letter and gave it to her.

The woman took the letter and read it. Her expression was as if she could not believe what she was reading.

She was so shocked that she immediately ran into the auditorium and seemed to ask another male guide to take a look at the letter.

Corvus just went ahead and also entered into the auditorium not knowing that he was actually not yet even allowed entry.

All people present were looking at him curiously and Corvus did the same with the people.

About all people gathered here were of Asian descent so he figured he got lumped with the Korean bunch this time around.

'Go figure when you got two ethnicities running through your blood. Last time it was the North European bunch.'

While thinking about his change of location, the woman came back and made a soft smile at him with what seemed to be an apologetic bow. Then she gestured for him to take a seat on the left side where there were chairs prepared.

'Not the talkative type, is she...' Corvus made a curious look at her and then proceeded to take a seat.

Right at that moment, he could feel the stares of the people standing on the right intensifying.

Well, it was to be expected since those guys were probably the contractors that sold their bodies...

Though why are they so mad? Just because he was having a chair and they did not? Then he doesn't even wanna know how they will react after the real benefits start to get distributed among the invited people.

Those things that they won't get.

"Another one that actually got the door lady bowing and is sitting on the chair now...." there was someone whispering in the group from those standing.

'Another one? You know, I am not the only one sitting here, right? I should have sprinted here to avoid this damn hassle...' Well, it didn't really matter much. Ignoring those envious people and looking to the side he could see another guy with dark brown hair sitting beside him who seemed to be somewhat nervous.

Or at least that was his impression. The guy was kinda glaring at him for whatever reason. He wondered what was up with that?

Suddenly the doors of the auditorium closed and most people looked there.

'Okay...a closed environment...Does that mean they are going to make us do the trial here?' Corvus ignored the door and already started looking around and analyzing the room.

Not only to pick up hints here and there but also to make sure to know the whole layout and if possible, some prompt weapons to use.

He was no fool to believe they would not encounter at least a monster of some sort that would endanger their very lifes.

Corvus just hoped it would not be one that was unmanageable to kill as a mere mortal. For example, spirits were nasty opponents that had a spiritual body and therefore needed strong magic to kill.

But oversized monsters would also be a problem in this cramped space. 'Maybe a troll behind that podium? Nah, that's unlikely because of the limited space...'

A man interrupted his thoughts by speaking to them through the microphone that amplified his voice with the speakers in the hall.

"Greetings everyone. My name is Han."

Corvus looked at the person and sighed again. Scratch his thought about plane stewardesses. The male counterparts of guides looked like some military staff. Especially those kinds that have a certain bad reputation.

"I am your guide. I know that you have a lot of questions, but we will follow the procedure. Plese think of the word *status window* or just *status*. It's okay if you even say it out loud. Since unless you give explicit permission, no one but you can see it anyway. So don't worry about that."

Corvus smiled. Right, he could do that now since he entered this trial area. 'Status.'

A transparent mint green window appeared out of thin air in front of his eyes. Corvus immediately went ahead and took a look at his body attributes. He could also hear the others in the hall making surprised voices after someone starting saying it out loud and looking through their status.

There were some tabs one could look through each showing somethign different. The most interesting things were in the second and onward tab. The first one was only basic information.

Corvus looked intently at the screen and fell into contemplation.

'I guess my little manifestation of magic did create an ability. But what is up with my attributes? Besides the neat ability that I wanted everything else seemed to have gotten sapped for it?'

'Seriously, no wonder I felt rather exhausted after making only one clone. Let's hope I can improve my capacity. I haven't really done much with magic in my last try when I got selected as a Warrior. Now that I want to use it I get a kick in the ass, great.'

'And how am I to be expected to increase my luck? Well, actually it fluctuates greatly but having it so low is a disaster that will come bite me in this trial for sure. Looks like that stingy god still made his own extra exchange...'

Just sighing he looked back up to the guide after closing his window.
