9 Raising a genius

Crystal's POV

It has been three years now since we came to Carmen village. Lord Harold has taken in prince Ray as if he was one of his children, in fact many people in the mansion think he is his illegitimate child. I have tried so hard to prove that that is not the case but all my efforts have been fruitless. Although people think that Ray is the Lord's illegitimate child, they all treat him with kindness and love. Ray himself does not seem to be a normal child at all. I myself am witness to it. Everything beginning from his birth have all been strange. He was born without a heart beat but turn out to be alive. He defeated two D class adventurers on his own when he was still a day old. He began speaking at the age of 7 months. He can comprehend the knowledge that he gets easily. He insisted that he be given books when he was still 8 months old so that he could read them. Many people who are experts in magic tell me that he has no mana in him yet he can wield a type of magic no one has ever seen. The child himself asked that he be taught magic when he was at the age of one and half years. The Lord agreed to teach him magic the moment his attributes are tested out. The boy then asked if he could just read some books on magic theory. The lord then gave him the access to the books assuming since he has no mana he will not be able to perform any of the spells that may cause disasters. But just for precautionary measures Lord Harold agreed to let him read the books in the Library in the presence of Maggie a former A rank Mage. Ray has been going to the Lord's library very often that I no longer see him that much in the mansion.

Ray's POV

I came to be given the name Ray over the period I have been her. Most people look at me as Mr Harold's son. I myself know this is not true but I cannot do anything about it. Right now I am three years old. The knowledge that I have collected over the period of three years in this world is interesting. First thing I learned about is the history of this world. Apparently there five races of sentient beings in this world. The people of this world believe that all the things of the world were created by a supreme being known as the Source.

The Source is said to have created various plants, animals, mountains, forests and every other thing in this world. The source is then said to have taken the form of the first sentient being and lived for a while alone in this world.

Eventually the source began feeling lonely living alone in this world thus the source decided to divide himself into smaller versions of himself. He then divided the world Continent into 4 parts which formed the different races that exists now in this world, these are the humans, elves , beast men and demon races. The energy that the source exuded during the division spread all over the world and now forms what is known as mana.

Mana is energy that exists in every living thing this world. During this split fragments of the source spread all over the world to form a race known as spirits. Spirits are beings who turn mana energy into various extraordinary phenomena. The world is currently divided into four sections known as Racelands. The northern part of the world is known as the beast raceland. The western part known as the elven raceland. At the centre there is a region that is occupied by a huge forest called the forest of monsters. The eastern part is the human race land while the south is the demon raceland. The spirits are small beings which live all over the world. They are so small that they can not be noticed by anyone. They seem to be atomic level small in size.

I learned that the human race land has two kingdoms. One is the Bermone Kingdom which I now live in while the other is the Stokes Kingdom. The Bermone kingdom is the superior kingdom since it has a larger amount of land stronger economic system and superior military power. The human race land is said to have only had one kingdom, but the kingdom broke into two because of civil war. This happened a century ago. The details about why the war took place have been kept a secret. I come to know that the Bermone Kingdom is ruled by a monarch who is chosen by the previous king after competing in the contest of royals and the contest of the crown and emerging the victor. The contest of royals is a competition in which all people of royal birth are allowed to compete in. The 8 who pass the test are then allowed to compete in the contest of the crowns. The final person who emerges victories became the crowned in other words the heir to the throne. The contest of royals is usually announced by the king through a decree to all of the kingdom from which any person of royal blood can take part in. The winners of the contest of royals is decided by a panel of nobility chosen by the monarch. Usually from a duke to a baron. The contest of royals usually takes 3 months to complete. The contest of the crown on the other hand takes up longer time usually up to 10 years. The current ruler of the Bermone Kingdom is called Rose Wemberly. It is said that she is the first princess to win the contest of the crown and become the heir of the throne.
