A genius's magic

Maggie's POV

Hello my name is Maggie. I am what people call an elf. I was once stolen by slave traders when I was young. I had given up hope of ever seeing freedom but a child from the demon race performed a high level fire spell that ensured that we all acquired our freedom. I was then taken in by Lord Harold. I used to work as an A class attack mage in his unit, but this job ended when Lord Harold retired from his position in the military as knight captain. At first I applied to become an adventurer. I then made my job to slay monsters. I continued with this job for a while until I become a C rank adventurer then quit.

I then came to the village where Lord Harold was the Baron. It was on the outskirts of the Bermone Kingdom. When I come to the village, I searched and searched for a job in every place I could find like Inns, trading agencies and so many others. I could not find a job anywhere but then I met with Lord Harold whom after seeing me, invited me to his mansion. He then gave me a nice meal and then inquired on the purpose for my visit. I told him that I was looking for a Job but I hadn't found one. Hearing that, he offered me a Job to be the book keeper of his personal library. I was so happy with his offer that I accepted without a second thought since I myself loved reading and surrounding myself with books and more so, I would get to see him each and every day. He then added that apart from being a book keeper he also wanted me to become the first teacher of magic to some children that were seen to have very high magical potential. I was honoured by this request and also agreed to it.

Recently Lord Harold Illegitimate child was brought. The child was accompanied by a young human woman whom I assumed was the child's mother. The child was taken into the mansion while the woman was given a house at the servants quarters and then worked as one of the maids in the mansion. This child showed amazing growth. He was a child that liked spending time reading books. He quickly learned the language and grasped the knowledge found in the library so fast that everybody called him a genius. The child has recently requested to be given books containing knowledge of magic. This are books which have been set aside in another different room that is not the library because the knowledge in those books if used by an amateur unsupervised can bring disaster. The child seems not to have any mana so therefore he can not perform any of the magic spells therefore I expected that the Lord would refuse his request, but to my surprise the lord accepted and put me in charge of looking after him. I then assumed that the Lord is doing this so as to please his child and not offend him. I decided to take the job.

The child read book after book going through the theories behind magic. After a week or so of going through some magic theories and going through some spells which he did not/ could not perform I decided to take him outside where I could perform some spells for him do that he could see some practical magic. He was very happy. After showing him some spells he did something that both scared and amazed at the same time.

Ray's POV

I recently requested to learn magic. Mr Harold willingly gave me the books that explained how the magic phenomenon in this world work and some spell books that contained some spells on wind and fire magic. I then dived into the books which took me about 4 days to understand.

The magic of this world occurs when the spirits which are every where in this world take in mana and information in form of spells then translate them to desired magic phenomenon. This spirit beings in short are like the transducers of magic in this world. The theories of this worlds magic say one is born with a fixed magical attribute that never changes. They then can only feed the Spirits information from the magical attribute that they have been born with. It is said mana is energy that emitted from the spirit of living things. In other words mana is spirit energy that is fed to spirits so as to get magic.

After learning about mana, I decided to see if I myself had this mana energy. I asked Liza if I had such a type of energy. Liza then said that I emit a certain type of energy when my body is fully covered with electron energy. She then continued to say that this type of energy I emit attracts the mana energy that I have read about from the surrounding areas straight to my soul. Some small beings of atomic size are usually sucked in with the energy I suck from the surrounding. When this happens the frequency of my body changes to that of my previous world so that may be the cause why I tend to suck energy around me. I asked Liza why this only happens when the electron energy is around my body. Her answer was that the electron energy has formed a layer between my soul and body but this layer is disrupted when my body is full of electrons. I then asked her if it is possible for the frequency of my soul to be synced to that of this world. She then said it is possible for the frequency of my soul to be tuned to different amplitudes by taking the electrons in my body to the center of my soul and tuning the electrons to the frequency of this world. I decided to do an experiment after somebody showed me how to perform the magic of this world. I knew this was going to happen right after my aptitude test. Then suddenly the woman who was keeping watch over me told me that on the following day she would want to show me the practical side of magic. I was so happy that now I could learn some actual magic.
