The School's Princess is My Boyfriend

“Are you ready?” I asked, holding the flash up. “As ready as I’ll ever be,” Yale said, staring straight ahead as the light lit up the entire tunnel. We waited a second before the ground started rumbling and shaking. I whistled, “This is going to be a big catch.” Yale didn’t answer, she was too busy preparing herself as we watched hundreds of gooy creatures running towards us. “Darling?” “Already on it.” In the prestigious school of an unimportant name, is where I go to, with my girlfriend, Yale Cassese. The Princess of the school. Popular, beloved and wealthy. She has it all. And yet she chose me, so you gotta understand that maybe she does not really have it all, you know. Then again, I accept so maybe we are on the same boat. As normal as our day life is, our nightlife tends to be much more interesting. We live very different lives comparing our day to our night lives. She is Yale when she wants to be and then Rumant, my boyfriend, when he wants to be. I don't mind either of them, honestly. Either way, they are my life and I will protect them from anything that dares threaten them. Even if that is ... me.

The black-haired boy with white tips name is Leonard and the other boy with him, black hair and smart military cut and a tattoo running up his neck to the left of his face, his name is Cameron.

They are both partners and are dating, just like me and Yale, though they are a little touchier with each other.

None of them can turn into weapons but they are still really good at using their abilities. So that is not a problem for them.

Leonard can manipulate the shadows around him to make a person do his bidding and contort anything with a shadow however he wishes.

As for Cameron, his ability is something like electric. Since it is a little difficult to use, most of the weapons he uses are conductors that amplify his ability. He can also mix his ability with his attacks, making them deadlier.

They are Group F.

____________________________

Now, let me explain about the groups and these abilities a bit.

After that shockwave, the people from that place went around collecting all the people that have these abilities. All of us.

There are some that felt like nothing happened like me. While others either died from shock, faint or the abilities in them could not be handled and … well, they went out of control.

That is why there is an observation area.

Most of the people in the observation area are there to make sure they are stable but I have not seen more than fifty come out alive from there. Like that fire breathing girl.

They tested me and made sure I was stable before putting me with the other children.

With the tests they did, they pair each child with another. Because they found that, though the shockwave made us have these strange abilities, each person is missing a pair.

It took several of us losing our minds after a week of being there and their abilities killing them, for them finally realise this.

The ones that found their pair within the week didn't lose their minds and even performed better when they were trying to control their abilities.

I hadn't realised it that time, but Yale was my pair, my literal other half. And because of that woman that brought me there, we were forced to hang around each other all the time.

I learned that I could control anything considered 'natural' and Yale was the first one that saw my abilities. Though the moment she saw my abilities, she panicked and told me to never show them the extent of my abilities.

I didn't understand why but I learnt later on that the more powerful abilities were taken to a room and dissected. Their partners dying not long after.

I, with Yale's instructions, opted for 'ice'. It was quite simple and nothing too impressive as there were at least four other people in the HQ that uses ice.

We were there to learn every single style of fighting while practising to control our abilities. Every month, there were evaluations done and those that didn't make it up to the mark were disposed off.

As the days passed by, the number of people decreased until we weren't sure how many people there were any more.

The rooms were filled with people before, now it became hard to even meet anyone. One of the reasons was that the training got harder and harder.

I thought it would be better to die by the seventh month we were there. But Yale remained persistent and … even if I didn't want to live, because there really was no point for me, I thought I could just decide to live for her.

Several more months pass and, in the New Year, we were awoken early in the morning. And shoved into an arena with the remaining two hundred from the thousands before.

I will never, never forget what happened that day. Not a second of my waking moment will I forget about what happened, even if I wanted to.

We watched how those people disappeared all those months ago. Yes, we are stronger than normal humans but … they found a way to execute us without even raising a hand.

The two hundred soon became fifty-two in the blink of an eye. And these fifty-two were divided into groups of the twenty-six alphabets.

We were allowed out in the public where those with families were waiting for them. Apparently, they were told that we were receiving special treatment because our injures were so bad.

And they believed it. Now, only the strong, those at the very top of the class, were the only ones that walked out of there alive.

Alive but with an invisible collar around our necks, keeping us in line.

I didn't have any family, so it was understandable that no one was there for me. As for Yale, her butler was waiting for her.

At that point, I don't even know if I have a house anymore and am wondering what I would do when she offered me to go with her.

I didn't have another option so I went to her mansion. Quiet and almost as lifeless as the place we just came out from.

We got along. How could we not? And three months after that day, we went back to our schools, like nothing happened. No one mentioned our year of disappearance either.

Life … went back to normal. I found several jobs again and a small room. Yale and I did not talk for the next couple of months as I was too busy still trying to pay back my debts.

And, Yale seemed to have her own things to take care of as well. We hardly met in school too.

As a scholarship student, I needed to keep my grades up. Though … it was a lot easier to understand everything in class than before.

Maybe because of the classes we took in that place? Or it could be the mutation. I don't even know. Life was just … normal now.

Until, I got a message with my first mission and a call from Yale.

Two months after that, we started sating. Sometime in October. And it has been two years since then.

"Are you two still dating?" Cameron asked, grinning at us.

"Are you?" Yale retorted back.

"Ok. You got me there." He said backing off immediately.

Stupid.

"It's really nice to see you two as well. When was the last time we saw each other?" Lucille said, looking at everyone.

"I think it's been a good year or so," Maya said, thinking. "How are you doing, Lucille? Has your puppy cause you any trouble?"

"Hudson never causes me any problems." She said pleasantly, the boy beside her nodding his head. "He is a good boy."

She didn't deny that he is her dog. Everyone thought, looking at the two, tried looks on our faces.

She usually denied it before but not anymore. I wonder why the sudden change.

"You look lovely as always, Yale," Leonard said, smirking at her. "Though you should do something about your hair. It's a little messy."

"Am I going to take advice from a person that came looking like he just had sex in the bushes?" Yale retorted, raising her eyebrow at the two.

Judging by their silence, they just had sex in the bushes, didn't they? As much as I feel like teasing them, I also admire their confidence.

I turned to Yale who's expression turned to disgust, walking closer to me she whispered, "We are not having sex in the bushes."

"But we never even HAD sex in the first place," I whispered back, getting hit on the head with her fan.

"Shut up."

"Yes, ma'am."

"It's nice to see you all so energetic." We watched as a large, bald man walked out of the helicopter. "You are all on time as well right? Good job."

Sir Jake. That is all we know of that man. He looks thirty but we couldn't really tell. He is the one that usually takes us to our missions, if it is a little far.

He is also the one that evaluates our work in the end, if it is teamwork and there are criteria to be met depending on your execution and the instructions.

Annoying but he is very fair. He takes no sides, not even for his own benefit. That is something I respect about him.

"It is exactly two-thirty." He said, looking at his watch and then at us. "Are you all ready to take down some creatures?"

"Yes sir!"

"Good. Hop on." He pointed to the helicopter. "I hope you all remember your training of being thrown off the building. You are going to need it now."

So we are going to jump out midair? I thought, watching the others walk into the helicopter. Man, they have to make everything complicated, don't they?

"Excited?" Yale asked, looking at me.

"Who knows?" I asked, grinning. "Come on, let's board."
