Chapter 1 - Friends

On Earth, a planet within the Milky Way galaxy, there lived many creatures. The dominant species is Homosapien. At the top of the food chain, the Homosapien, or humans, evolved into the digital age. The only reason people stay on Earth is that they are not able to easily leave and establish life on other planets. They are bound to the planet by their limitations. However, there is a very select group of people who are capable of taking humanity to the next level. They're known as psychics. They can do many things that normal humans are unable to do, such as use telepathy to read and control the minds of other people, or use the power of their brains to make objects around them levitate.

One of these people is known as Dark Evergreen. At a young age, Dark had discovered that she could do things that the other kids couldn't do. She could use her psychic powers to lift very heavy objects with ease, or to instantaneously transport objects from one place to another. There was one drawback to having such immense power, and that was the toll they took on her body. It seemed that whenever she tested out one of her powers, she would always catch a cold afterward. Over the years, this problem had dulled to a migraine for bigger tasks, like levitating something really heavy or teleporting anyone other than herself from place to place.

Growing up, Dark didn't have many friends. She felt that her powers made her different from other kids. She had seen how much strength she harbored at such a young age and was afraid of what others would think of her if she accidentally knocked over a building while others watched. How would normal people react if she made everything around her levitate? Her biggest fear was trying to socialize and being an outcast from everyone else.

She did, however, make one friend. Her name was Noname. She was also a psychic, but not to the extent that Dark was. Noname could only change the way other people saw her, but not how she saw herself. The two had become close friends since both of them could do things that nobody else they knew could do. Aside from her parents, Noname was the only one that knew about Dark's abilities and made sure to keep them secret.

Dark had grown up to be a short, black-haired girl with gray eyes. Noname had grown up to be a tall, green-haired girl with emerald. They decided to rent a one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment on the outskirts of the Big Apple.

Dark was constantly discovering new powers. She had discovered that she could create anything out of nothing. She set strict guidelines for this power though, and that was that she couldn't make herself wealthy, make a new life, or bring anybody back from the dead.

One day, Dark desperately needed to find a new job. Her current one was making her severely depressed, and she didn't have a proper paycheck for what she did. If she were to quit and have no plans for a new career, that would leave Noname to be the only one paying for the apartment, the food, and the other necessities of everyday life.

"C'mon Dark! Don't you know you could make our lives so much easier if you just summoned some money?" Noname asked.

"Dude, you know that I won't do that," Dark replied. "Besides, abusing the power to create literally anything out of nothing would be a dirty move. The satisfaction of earning the money you make would also be lost, and I wouldn't feel fulfilled. I'll just stay at the office until I find a new job and then leave. It's as simple as that."

"If you say so. I just hate to see you so miserable when you come home. You're my best friend, and seeing you suffer is sickening to me. For as hard as you work, what you're getting in return just isn't right."

"I promise that I'll find the job for me. It'll just be a little while longer."

The two entered their apartment building and went up to room number 126 on the fourth floor. They entered together, then went to different rooms to change out of their work clothes. It was Dark's night to make food, so she decided to make her favorite meal, Spaghetti. She turned on the stovetop burner and put a big pot of water over it. She stood in front of it, waiting for the water to boil. Suddenly, there was a loud knock on their front door.
