1 Finding the promised mentor

"Homura run, get out of here."

Screams from the sword of Eden, Valkyire, were echoing across the town s as fire poured out and ingulfed the town. Unknown forces of terrorist were invading the town and a massacre insured in the area which was Homura's birthplace planet. Women, men and machine kind were being wiped from the surface as guns smoke from the gun shots covered the town.

Only slashes, screams and sounds of crisping fire could be heard. The girl that the woman was calling out could only run in the direction that her mentor was telling her too. Her little legs were burning, unable to contain the pain crying on each continuous step she was taking. She skidded against the concrete's surfaces and tripping face first.

This was an incident from 5 years where the pair were forced to flee from every town or area where they grazed on.

Vivid images of a war-torn battle with Valkyrie facing enemies, mowing each foe one by one while they were still together one by one roamed passed Homura's mind as she was in deep slumber at the Edens Zero. The dreamer was envisioning her recently deceased mentor after discovering the truth of her disappearance at the sun jewel planet, where the crew had defeated Kurenai Kogestsu.

"Mentor, why did you leave me. I thought I was finally going to see you again."

She muttered that under her month as her random thoughts in her sleep turned into nightmares that choked her. As more memories started to surface of the war torn battle, screams echoed in Homura's ears.

Being unable to take the violent thoughts she finally became awoke and slowly brought her attention to the room where scattered pictures of her mentor and sword that she had collected were hanged on her wall. She was still in her bedroom in the Edens Zero.

"Oh man, another bad dream, I better go to train then. I probably won't get any more sleep tonight. But training is what I thrive for anyways." Her face glowed at the idea of training.

Her back was drenched with her own sweat and she had rasp breathing as she removed the blanket surrounding her body and arose from her bed. She put her hand on her forehead as there was a mental pain. Her nightmares were still clear as the time she experienced them since she was a little girl.

She went into her wardrobe to fetch one of her many numerous kimono's attires.

As she was dressing herself, readying for the next gruesome training secession, her mind drifted onto her new position — as the next Valkyrie on the Edens Zero. She had just assigned herself as the next one of the four shinning shines after her mentor was found to be deceased in Sun Jewel, her body resting in the position where it had died.

"Do I have the ability to bear the responsibility necessary to protect my friends, to do what is required on the ship to carry her mentor will and continue her mission." She thought this as she walked across the hallways towards the training room.

The heavy concept of what is known as taking the wing was foreign. She had always been guided by her shining star her entire life and her pursuit of her one and only mission, but now nothing, Whenever she felt lost or didn't know what to do, her one coping mechanism came in her last resort, training.

Armed with her sword bestowed by her mentor, her movement remained stealthy sneaking across the ship to not bother anyone else still asleep. She arrived in the dock bay and inhaled a gulp of air into her lungs to ready herself for the training regiment for the day.

She usually started with just a light warm-up for her body; running, push-ups and simple timed slashes from her blade. Homura's heart was always in harmony whenever she was training. She started to experienced her sweat dripping, her sword slicing the wind and her body arching. The pain of training was always better than the pain of losing her friends.

As she continued to hit the wind with her blade, ether blades were unleashed when she used her technique Odin's strike, the technique inherited from her master. Ether started to glow from her body and the light erupted from her body transforming into a tornado from the circular motion of the ether dancing in the sky.

Her eyelids started to drop down, as the the illumination of each sword transformed into dimed lights. Grasping for breath, she dropped down on all four of her legs and the wind started to dim down from the lack of kinetic energy.

Losing the energy in her legs and arms she was tipping over to her side when she felt the grasps of a warm familiar hand holding her up.

It was her crewmate who introduced her to the rest of the crew, Weisz Steiner, a scientist of the group that had the alter persona of Arsenal, a hero. He had a kind of cocky laugh as he was placing his arm over her shoulder but she had no strength to retort his ignorance.

" You idiot! You overexerted your ether capabilities and now you look like a mess." He was laughing in a teasing manner looking directly at her face.

"How did you know I was training down here?" Her eyes starting to tilt to the side avoiding the eye contact of embarrassment. Her face grew red even without the pre workout.

In his hand he held a drink of sister Ivry's glossing energy drinks contained within a can used to save Weisz own life once. He flicked it open and poured the drink into her mouth while holding her face with his hands. Homura stared directly into Weisz eye's as he was glaring at her and gave her a concerned look.

"Thank you, how did you know I was here? " She was relieving herself of the fatigue that overcame her and stood back up. She grasped her sword once again to go for another round of training struggling as her whole body ached.

"Well that's kind of obvious when you are unleashing technique next to my room. Are you going back to training already?" He had a concerned look on his face for his friend.

"Yes, I can't spare a single moment resting. I have got to be ready for the next conflict we face in order to protect my friends."

"Well do you want help with that?" A confident smiled brewed across his face.

Weiss pressed his arm against the wall of the room with his mobile device in his hand. With a simple click of a button the room started to morph, transforming the training room into a new existence slowly equipping itself with Arsenal's battle tools . Flame throwers, blasters and chainsaws. The area lit up with his bright ether and the Edens Zero training room transformed into a war room ready for the purpose of training .

"Are you ready." He had his ether ready, to activate the machines at any point.

"Yes, please proceed." Her blade grasped between her hands and the room erupted in shining bullets, flames and explosion for her to slash to her heart's content.

*One hour later*

The room was still irrupting with smoke and the two comrades were laying on the floor at this point exhausted after the training secession.

"That was tough." Still catching her breath, the swordsmen deactivated her ether gear with the glow from her sword starting to dimmer down.

"Tell me about it. That's enough training for me for a lifetime."

Weisz was exhausted at this point by expending his ether capacity. The room was in silence for a moment.

"I thought that you were kind of a pervert to be honest, but you are a really great person. Thank you so much for helping with my training. Ever since my master disappeared I haven't had anyone to train with." Homura chuckled a little bit with her hand covering a smile over her mouth.

"Wow, thanks for the compliment." He snarked back. "Why are you down here training so late anyways?"

"Well I had a nightmare about my mother again and I couldn't go back to sleep. After realising she is dead now, I don't what to do."

"Yeah I feel you. When I lost my mother, I felt so hopeless at first, I didn't know what to do with myself; I constantly had nightmares always remembering my mother's final words, "I love you". I joined Sibir and his gang out of grief and I did some terrible things. I robbed people, I stole and I even injured innocent people.I was a selfish and greedy man and when my mother told me about mother, I scuffed at that idea because I didn't believe. But thanks to you guys I know that mother exists and that I now have another family. You guys are my other family and I will fight for everyone on this ship even if it kills me."

Homura looked in complete empathy, agreeing with what being part of this ship has done to her. The matter on his mother peaked her curiosity but she decided to not press the matter further and instead mention her own nentor.

" When my mentor died I felt so sad that I never even knew who she was and what kind of great warrior she was. She often told me about herself in her old town but I never listened and now I don't know what to do. What I am sure is that you aren't a bad guy Weisz, you've always helped me and that past self you keep critiquing he is gone." A slight tear shed from her eye slithering down her cheek and hitting the ground.

"Than let's go find her hometown. Let's find out all about your master legacy so we can go and honour her memory. That's the only way you'll every get rid of that pain in your heart, you need to get rid of the regret." He lifted his pinky, indicating for her to do the same. "That's what friends are for right?"

"Um, what are you doing?" Homura was dumbfounded when Weisz raised his hand signalling for a intertwining of pinkys.

"Are you serious, you've never had a pinky promise, you youngsters I swear." He gave a sigh. "Never mind th-." Just as he was about to retract his hand, he felt a finger embrace his pinky and the warmth enveloping his skin.

"Is this what I'm suppose to do?" Her face gave a gentle smile while enveloping Weisz's pinky. The scientist face blushed turning his head to 180 degrees to avoid any eye contact.

"Thank you Weisz, I am blessed to have a friend like you." Her smile beamed. For once, his heart didn't just flutter with perverted thoughts but a tingly feeling in his chest.
