THE COMPETITION
Jake bought some free size clothes for the event and went to sleep. an adequate amount of rest was necessary for the test that was to come.
He began early next morning to go to the competition ground. He was prepared in terms of weapons, since he got a lot of them from the assailants. His inventory was holding a lot of things and Jake didn't feel nervous.
The competition ground was in the middle of the Avalon city. It was surrounded by such a huge crowd that Jake couldn't even clearly see the entrance.
He had to get into line to register as a participant in the competition. Once his name was registered, the person on counter provided him with a token with a number on it.
Jake's number was 250. He took the token and entered the testing grounds.
The testing ground was not only huge but also divided into many smaller sections which could be utilized to divide the huge crowd and test them in smaller groups.
Once the crowd was gathered and no further registrations.came in, the gates were closed and a group of people came on to the stage.
"We welcome all the participants into the country-wide selection campaign to identify potential hunters who have the talent to help secure the future of our planet."
"Each year, major cities are having selection campaigns to identify prospects who then are either selected by the goverment or private organization to awaken and train as a hunter."
"The test of Avalon city just touched an all time high and all of us have huge expectation from all the participants."
"The exam will be be conducted in four phases where we will be testing you in various areas."
"The first phase is your basic fitness test. You will need to qualify through 10 events to qualify as a viable candidate for the next phase."
"The second phase is a royal rumble where multiple hunters will be fighting with each other to choose top 10 in each division."
"The third phase is a group fight."
"The fourth phase is a one on one match-up to decide the champion."
"The champion will be recovering a cash prize of 5 million units along with a direct admission ticket into the government's hunter division. Also many scouts are present from top organization around the country to recruit potential hunters."
"The choice of joining will be left on you." The judge said
" Also, this year's marks a landmark establishment time for our country's hunter and hence a match of pills and cultivation liquid along with some basic martial arts have been added to prize pool by the organization who are participating." The judge said.
"We hope that all of you will be showcasing the best of your abilities in this competition to help us make an informed decision."
Jake was contemplating all the details that have just been provided about the competition when another announcement was held.
"Please proceed according to your token number. The token number refers to the 100 participants who will be entering a single testing area."
Jake's number was 250 and hence he proceeded to the third area where his token was inspected before sending him in. The grounds looked like a normal stadium from top, but the technological innovation made it possible to have so many tier under it that the actual size of the facility was unknown to the public.
Once all 100 people had gathered, a group of men in uniform led by a captain rank soldier came forward.
"I hope all of you are prepared to showcase your abilities. This is the judging team that will be deciding your fate in the first round."
"As announced the best round has 11 tests. 3 for strength, 3 for endurance , 3 for agility, 2 for reaction time and a special test that can only be undertaken by personel who have managed to awaken their talent through natural or artificial means."
"The last two test takers will directly be promoted to the third round since it would just be a waste to have. them compete with normal crowd."
Jake was surprised to know that awakened people could also take part in the competition.
The strength test began with weight lifting to calculate how much weight one could bear. The cap was 100 units and anyone who managed to surpass that would be able to proceed to the next round.
Jake initially thought that 100 units would be heavy, but when his chance came, he felt it was light as a feather.
Thankfully his mind worked at the proper moment, and he managed to act as if he was struggling. He didn't want to be identified as an exception. That would attract a lot of unwanted attention.
The next test was punching a machine to calculate the participants power followed by a kick machine to calculate the lower body's utilization and power.
The stamina test included a normal run of 20 miles, and the participants were shocked that there was space available to do so.
The next category was a weighted plank and the third and the most difficult part was a weighted run of 5 miles.
Those managing to pass these three test were tested for agility where the speed was measured first with normal instruments and then in real time.
After that the participants were send into what looked like a training center filled with machines and robots.
"Your reaction time will be decided based on a 5 minute run within the facility. The more hits you incur, lower will be your mark. " The judge said.
Jake was easily fulfilling all the test case conditions, as they were just as difficult as he had to do in the body training mission
The horrible pain of body refinning couldn't be compared with this. This test looked like child play to him.
Jake saw the initial test result and someone managed to pass after getting hit 50 times. He decided to do less than that , but a mission arose.
"Reaction Training Mission: Avoid all the attacks.
The host is required to test his reaction time and avoid all the attacks.
Reward: +1 Agility."
Jake had no choice but to avoid all using his basic and Intermidiate movement techniques and peripheral vision along with wolf eyes.
The passive skill were extremely helpful for this test.
When the test was finished and Jake came out, he wa met with a flabbergasted crowd, including the judge.
"Jake Grant.
No hits, Full marks for reaction time test. Pass."
Jake knew this would garner unwanted attention towards him. Yet he had no choice since he recived an additional agility stat.
