The Migration

After Mother went into her deep slumber I thought that it would be a good idea to stretch my newly muscles after my long restorative sleep. When standing up my sisters looked at me with curious gazes wondering what I was doing. Knowing that I was not allowed to leave the cave I walked around the cave until I felt that I had moved enough for the new tissue that had been formed.

Looking out the blazing bright cave entrance to the vast expanse of mountains that lay beyond I wondered where we would go.

When Mother awake I had long since fallen into my own deep sleep along side my sisters. Waking us up she called us to her platform "Climb onto my back and hold on until we land at our destination." She said with a serious gaze.

I bowed my head in understanding then walked over to her lowered wing using it to climb onto her expansive back. Soon after seeing that it was safe my two sisters followed after me, quickly running to join me.

As soon as we where all safely secured on her back she walked to the entrance and jumped. A feeling of weightlessness overcame me before her wings unfurled and we began gliding across the wind.

Looking over my Mothers scarlet scales the morning sun emerged over the vast mountain range that we had called home. The white snow capped peaks glistening in the morning light, and the dew that had collected on the various plants on the lower regions of the mountains shown in the sunlight.

With ever flap of her massive wing we where propelled miles soaring over towns and villages, then once we had passed the more inhabited lands we encountered vast grasslands and forests untouched by human hands. I saw herds of Sleipnir running across the plains and vast rivers feeding glimmering lakes as we passed overhead.

After what seemed like hours we left the continent behind, looking back I saw towering white cliffs with waves that crashed up before returning to the ocean. As we flew over the vast expanse of water that lay below us I swore that I could sense a immense presence that waited for us to enter the oceans watery depths.

This continued until I felt us pass through some sort of barrier and all of a sudden before us was another land mass. Decorating its shores where ancient trees that looked out of place in comparison to the flora that I had just seen.

With large colorful birds flying in the sky almost the same size as my sisters the sight was breath taking. In the distance I could see the peaks of mountains that seemed to pierce the heavens, as we flew over the ancient forest I could slowly make out a large dazzling white structure that had gold encrusted into every part no matter how small.

looking down at myself it seemed that it was the polar opposite of myself, secretly I hopped that was not our destination.

Suddenly Mother veered to the left away from the white structure, toward the vast mountain ranges and their barren lands. As we approached I could feel something stir within myself, it was as if the barren waste below was calling to me.

Soon we passed over the mountains and found ourselves above what seemed to be a active volcano, I could see hot rivers of magma flowing from the caldera. It was then that Mother descended and landed at the edge of the volcanic region at a cavern that was embedded in a mountains face that overlooked the volcano.

As she landed ash billowed out from under her, a testament to the power the volcano held over the area. Walking inside she lowered herself to let us off of her back.

In the air outside the cave I could see the last vestiges of runes fluttering out of existence. Seeing this I knew that Mother had used her own mana for our flight to expedite our journey.

Looking back at Mother I gazed up at her massive form marveling at the speed and distance that she was able to cover. While walking into the cavern she looked over her shoulder "Find a place to rest I will return soon." She said as she walked into the dark depths of the cavern.

"I wonder what she could be doing?" I said out loud Corentine nodding along while Apollonia gazed at mothers disappearing form with worry.

Sorry for the short chapter, I will make tomorrows chapter twice the usual length.
