The Departure

The appearance of the spacious and beautiful room underscores it has actually been handled by a trained interior decorator and perhaps a beautiful young lad.It is picturesque and beholding in the eyes of visitors. At the entrance after the threshold are two tall vases harbouring flowers with ravishing look, hence giving visitors a first hand idea of how beautiful the room would appear. To the right is a well positioned led tv set with the accompaniment of sound enhancing appliancies.A scrutiny to the left would reveal the gigantic bar holding captive, wines of varying kinds and brands.Adjacent to the bar is a vast kitchen capable of accommodating more than ten endomorphs, also within the domain of the kitchen is a small dinning table with four chairs revolving around it.Going past the centre of the room where the sofas are seated opposite the entrance is a staircase leading upstairs. On different positions on the white wall is the display of sundry artistic designs.

Thomas,a man in his mid twenties and the only occupant of the edifice was seated on the sofa. His attention was burried in the smartphone on his palm.He was surfing the contacts on his phone and stopped abruptly on getting to his secretary's number.Denice, his secretary is someone with an unwavering loyalty,it could be infered from her dedication to work and her compliance and adherence to whatever instructions that is being given by Thomas. She is in her early twenties but looks younger than her age.

Thomas put a call across to her and they discussed about his meeting with the fabric organisation later in the day.Thomas had always been Denice's crush right from the very first day she got interviewed by him. However, this feeling is something she thought should be nurtured within her humble self because she was not her boss' taste and she was no where a match for him.She thought her feeling would never get requited.Thomas sprang up from the double seater and proceeded upstairs to take his bath and change into a better outfit that suits his outing. The bathroom wall is made of translucent glass of good quality.Alone in the big bath tube, spacious enough to hold two people,Thomas got lost in thought of the girl he ran into at the hotel few days ago.He laughed hysterically when he recalled the scene and the confidence the girl put on.What a brave girl,he thought within himself.Few minutes later, the beeping of his phone drew him back to life, with this he rushed his bath and hurried for the phone. On answering the phone,he had a fallen countenance that showed how bitter he was after the doctor broke the news of the demise of his father who had battled with gastric cancer for quite a number of years.Every great attempt to help alleviate the illness proved abortive. He gave up the ghost in such a discomfort.

Thomas Eaderson all of a sudden felt lonely. He lost his mother in a fatal accident that also claimed the life of the chauffeur few years ago.

Here again he had lost his only guardian who stood by him in times of tribulations to the cold hands of death. What a twist of fate,he said aloud. After sobbing for a while with his head buried in his hands,he rushed for his closet and managed to get himself a dress. He did everything hurriedly, withdrew his car keys from the bed and dashed out of the room,he got into his car and zoomed off.He halted the engine at the front of the big hospital and went straight to the doctor's office. In the reception were two nurses in blue gown and few people obviously waiting for their relatives, some are seated while some are nervously going to and fro in fidgety. On getting to the nurses' desk he waved his right hand in response to their greetings and went straight to the doctor's office. On the door is an inscription with the words"knock but never wait for a response".With his state of mind he did knock but went in immediately. The doctor didn't bother to greet but offered him a seat.Barely had he sat when the doctor broke the news to him officially and told him how hard they tried in saving him but all was futile.I will advise you to take heart and act like a man,it would be nice if you could get over it soon, the doctor remarked. His last word was"A SAFE"and he left a necklace, the doctor further said.Thomas collected the necklace and held it with a clenched fist,he looked at it keenly then he rose and told the doctor his secretary would come see to everything that needed to be settled.

On his way out of the hospital he called Denice and explained things to her.Oh my God,sorry about that, she shared her condolence.Amidst fury,Thomas entered his blue new model toyota car, ended the call and resuscitated the engine. He felt void as he drove past the other cars that were parked at the front of the hospital. In the absence of shoulder to lean onto he thought of so many things to seek solace in and came up with the idea of settling with a bottle of vodka perhaps more.He proceeded to the Blueline Hotel with the mindset of erasing every perceived sad memory that poses a threat to his mental state.

While driving he thought of what he could do to suppress the agony that kept eating him up,he came up with playing a ragae music perhaps that would help a great deal. The solemn music travelled round the car in consonance with the cooling air condition,on the contrary the music sounded horrible in his ears. With this,he angrily tapped on the tape and stopped the music. He needed a consolation, even if it is an iota of sorry. He ran at top speed and in no time he arrived the hotel,he drove to the parking lot and made his way to the bar section. There were fleet of cars at the lot that he had to meander through them before he could get to walk freely. At the entrance was a self opening door that lead the way to the bar and at the threshold was a red ray of light going in an ascending and descending order,a detective device scanning every passer.

In the bar hall were very few people, this made Thomas to come up with the thought that most of those cars he saw earlier must have belonged to lodgers. He approached a table with no occupants and decided to call for the bartender. To his right were couples lost in discussion as their drinks bounce the table between them, his left was filled with four friends chatting indiscreetly about their supposed girlfriends like the sputtering Nightingale and cooling it down with a rum.Behind those couples was an old man about 70 years of age sipping his coffee drink as he buried his eyes in the newspaper before him.Other angles were occupied by either two or three people with each person busy with a drink or more. The night was already approaching, the stars were beginning to appear, the moon still high up in the vast sky and everywhere was becoming silent. The solemn song being played underneath"right next to you"by Chris brown x justin bieber filled and diluted the atmosphere. Before he could wave over to summon one of the bartenders, there was already one approaching his table,it was the girl from the last time.He frowned to reciprocate the girl's smile, she felt ashamed as a girl but swallowed her pride to take his order. Two bottles of vodka and i want them served chilled,he said is everything okay?,the lady inquired.

He looked deep into her eyes and shrugged.Take my orders and let me be,he said in annoyance.Once again, the girl felt embarrassed and left to get him what he had ordered. In no time she brought his drink, placed it on the table and carefully opened it to serve him.All through the moment she was serving his drink he was busy looking at the fancy table clothe with so much attention as if he was counting every line of thread on it.She left immediately after she was done,he took the first glass in a gulp, filled the cup again and took it in a gulp.Take it easy sir,you might end up getting tipsy, said one of the four boys that sat at his left side after carefully observing. He looked at the boy with a glass of drink in his mouth and then shrugged.Night has already crept in,the street was beginning to get deserted.Thomas was oblivious that he was the only one left in the hall, other people had gone to their different destinations.By this time he had already gulped four bottles,he was battling with the fifth one when he was taken back by the clattering sound of keys.He saw the blurry image of a lady through the glass cup that sat comfortably between his hand as he attempted to check the level of the drink in the transparent cup.He was tipsy. The lady stood before him ,dropped the bunch of keys she was rolling on the table, folded her hands and looked straight into the eyes of Thomas.Thomas stood up in a staggering manner,he titled back but was held by the girl.

Thomas held her hands, handed over his car keys, whispered his home address and fell to the ground. She was astonished and attempted to argue with him but later gave it up because she saw no sense in arguing words with a man who was not himself. She managed and helped him into his toyota car, fortunate for him she knew how to drive if not she would have left his car at the hotel and ordered for a cab.She drove for half an hour and finally got to his place, she was amazed to see the self opening gate. There is a mechanism in the gate that has been programmed to pull open at contact with the opposite mechanism installed in all of his cars.Incase he doesn't come home with his car,he usually go around with a remote that would aid his passage. She drew him out and ushered him in while she held him tightly. The interior view and settings of the room made her mouth to slid open spontaneously.Thomas crawled upstairs but was accompanied by the girl in case he loses his steps.Wow!,she exclaimed onto seeing the settings upstairs,at the apex of the stairs was a robot that gives directions to every route you intend heading to.She uttered bedroom and immediately the robot led the way.She was dumbfounded at the sight of the large shelf that held thousands of books.Oh my God he is such a great reader, she said in astonishment.she looked around to see some other amazing things.she laid Thomas on the bed and decided to leave.

In a moment, she realised she had not encountered any being since she entered the compound not even the lowest of rank in a building, gatekeeper. This is a strange character that i have never met,how could he leave all alone in this vast edifice with no perceived companion or accompaniment of anyone,i need to leave at this very moment,it was stupid of me to give in to his proposal of helping him home in the first place, she lamented in anxiety. She would have loved to leave him at the bar in reciprocal to his ill treatment earlier but she couldn't overcome her altruism. In a bid of leaving the room, her pocket dairy slid through her hand bag and dropped beside the bed on the floor.Oblivious of this, she left the room and hurried downstairs, went through the living room, now outside in the compound. She imagined how she would get out of the compound but was marvelled to see the gate open on approaching it.It was programmed to open for anyone going out of the building. It was very dark outside, there were fleets of headlights beaming helter skelter, along the street were lights shining through window cottons, she saw people obviously heading home after spending a great time at work. She strolled down the almost deserted street alone and recalled the scene from earlier.she shook her head and went in anxiety.
