73 New history

"What?"

"What happened to them?" Caitlyn asks anxiously.

"There...There bunch of big meanie guys outside!" Seraphine said as she exaggerated her hands to describe the situation.

"Big meanie guy?" Jayce said as he spread his senses outside, his expression turned solemn.

"Yes! Sister Vi said to get you, I run get you."

"Okay, let's go out and check." Caitlyn said as she tried to get up with her weak knees from the earlier "incident". Jayce also expresses his agreement by leaving as well.

….

Outside of the tavern,

"VANDER! COME OUT AND FACE YOUR CRIME!" A man shouts at the top of his lung, he's dressed in a blue button-up uniform with a small silver medal that is carved with the logo of PiltOver. Behind him is an army of similarly dressed people, all with guns and weapons armed to the teeth, they are the PiltOver's legion that was situated at Zaun to address orders and reinforcement.

These "PiltOver's legion" people are just using the name of the actual prestigious legion to make themselves look good, as they are just retired or hired people that the noble of Zaun used to do their bidding.

No one brought up the situation to attention because the councillors are just as corrupted, wanting to use these very same people for their purposes. Even Heimerdinger isn't aware of such a thing as the involved councillors covered it up neatly. Only Orianna knew about it with the League's network, but even then, she didn't do anything as it wasn't her problem. So, the problem was never been solved, leading to the tension between the nobles and the slum.

"What's with the fucking ruckus?" A lazy voice of Vander comes behind the door as his burly figure slowly makes its appearance. His killing intent and aura flare wildly, showing the dominance and fierceness for the whole world to see.

*gulp* Some of the weaker members of the legion shake under the pressure and could hardly manage to keep themselves conscious. A few had already fainted with foam flowing out of their mouth.

"Hmph! Enough!" A couple of bellow shouts came from the commanders of the legion as they also used their aura to confront him.

It's crazy to think about the fact that it takes several people, whose strength isn't any weaker than that of an average D-ranker, to confront a single man that came from the slump.

'Strong!'

'How is this possible?'

'What's the man's background?'

Many of the newer members question themselves as they watch the confrontation. They might not know who Vander is but they themselves had experienced their commanders' might! They were retired people from the PiltOver's legion for fuck's sake! They experienced many bloodbaths and battles, accompanied by extraordinary skills. Although retired and now working under the nobles, they are still above the ordinary people by a long shot.

But the supposed leader of the slump, Vander, who the nobles thought was just a thug with some power to his name, displayed his might against their superiors, and overwhelmed them effortlessly! How could they not be shocked? An easy target my ass, this is clearly a steel plate okay?

This is the guy that they have to fight against...? *gulp*

"Crime? What crimes did I commit officers?" Vander smirks at the person leading ridiculously, although he had already guessed why they have come.

'Took them a while...' He expected them to come here sooner, the moment he announced the rebellion war but guessed that weird phenomenon from earlier delayed them a little. Nonetheless, Vander doesn't care if it happens sooner or later, it won't matter, as he will soon etch this day into history for the future generation to remember! The start of the civil war!

"Hmph! Do you dare to be ignorant? MEN ARREST THIS REBEL!" The leader roared at the top of his lung as he did a motion with his sword.

"Ugh...ROAR!" Although hesitant, the army of soldiers still charged forward with guns and sabres in hand. The army consists of about 500 men in total, not a lot in the grand scheme of things, but for only a restraining order against Vander, the number is extremely terrifying.

"HAHAHA! IS THIS HOW THE LAW WORK THESE DAYS? YOU JUST ARREST PEOPLE FOR NO REASON? HAHAHA. MEN! TAKE ARMS WITH ME AND I WILL LEAD YOU TO PROSPERITY!" Despite the terrifying zerg rush of 500 men, a normal person would just have pissed themselves, but Vander just laughs menacingly as his battle intent surges wildly, his shout reverberates through the whole street.

"HAHA! I WILL MAKE HISTORY ALONG WITH YOU BROTHER!"

"ME TOO!"

"ME THREE!"

"MEN! HELP OUR BROTHER VANDER AND HE WILL LEAD US TO FREEDOM!"

From the tavern, the side of the street, to even underground, various people started to appear on the scene, all armed with various weapons as if they were waiting for the moment. With no hesitation, Vander's men charge toward with a battle crazed expression. Total, they only have about 250 men, but even on earth, quality isn't everything in a war, not to mention this weird, fantasy place called Runeterra where anything is possible with the use of Arcane/Ki/?...etc.

"GOOD! KILL THEM ALL!" A pair of silver gauntlets materialized around Vander's hands, leading the charge toward the confused army of soldiers.

*BANG* Vander propels his arm back as he soon launches a punch.

*POP* The first unfortunate victim got his head pop in an instant once contacted with Vander's fist. Not satisfied with his feat, Vander took a jump in the air.

"THOR HAMMER!" Like a meteor, he smashes toward the dense crowd with a stoppable fist, if one looks closely, they could see electrical charges emitted from the gauntlet.

*BOOM*

*RUMBLE*

"Powder, Stop!" Vi shouted as she grabbed her sister's arm, preventing her from going to the battlefield.

"Let me go! I want to help Vander!" For the first time ever, Powder refuses to listen to her sister, her eyes tinged with red as she gazes at the figure of her "father" tainted with blood and gore, whether it was his own or others is unknown.

She started to struggle and threw a tantrum at Vi, her stubbornness continued for a few moments....until...

*slap* A loud crisp slap resounds around the tavern, only two sisters were left inside, so the sound made it more dramatic.

Powder seemed to have woken up from the slap as she held her red right cheek, looking at her sister with confusion and anger as tears brimmed in her eyes. Confusion as this is the first time ever that Vi had done physical harm to her that is unrelated to training. Anger because she slapped her!

Tears started to drip down her cheek as she didn't know what to do next in this situation, this was her first time experiencing such a situation.

"You want to go out there and help? Look at yourself, you're weak Powder! You're powerless! Going out there would only get yourself KILLED! YOU UNDERSTAND ME?" VI shouts at the top of her lung, trying the hardest to hold herself back and not shed a single tear.

Powder looks down at the ground, biting her lower lip till its bleeds, clenching her fists tightly, tears streaming down her cheeks.

Useless, weak and powerless, these are the terms that she knew too well, way too well. Every time, it was 'Vi is so strong!', or 'Vi is so powerful', it never was Powder. She would get mocked and ridiculed for always being known for hiding behind another person's back, never stepping up to her own.

As if having enough, Powder looks up to her sister with a determined expression. Her pink eyes suddenly turned crimson red.

"I'M NOT WEAK!" Powder shouted as she unconsciously rile up her hidden Arcane energy that she obtained during their cultivation.

*RUMBLE* Without them knowing, an invisible wave of energy courses through her body, a golden beam came straight from heaven as it radiates around her. On the back of her hand, a golden sigil appeared, a golden sword pointing downward with two bolts by its side, Powder has officially awakened her Runeline, Lethal Tempo!

The golden sigil flashed with intense golden radiance, causing the two siblings to stop their argument as they squinted their eyes.

"What is that?"

"What is this?"

*Tap Tap Tap* Series of footsteps came from behind them at that moment, they both turned toward the source with wariness until relax as the figure of Jayce and the crew enter the scene.

"Mhm, interesting. This is the first time I have seen someone awaken their own Runeline." Jayce said as he observed the golden sigil with his Arcane eyes. He saw a golden beam that was invisible to the naked eyes as it descended upon Powder from who knew where.

"Jayce!" - Powder, Vi.

"What is that thing about?" Vi said as she pointed to Powder's hand, her concerned voice shows that despite the harsh words and actions she did to her prior, her love for Powder is immaculate, so seeing some unknown symbol that flashed with golden radiance, worried her.

"Oh, I have a similar one as well." Caitlyn's surprised voice rang out beside him, riling up her Arcane energy as a golden rune also flashed upon her left hand, a golden shoe with golden wings attached.

"When did you get this? How come I didn't know about it?" Jayce asked as his eyes fluttered with surprise. Didn't Poppy say that these runes are hard to come by? How come there are two that appeared here like cabbages on the side of the road?

Plus, he doesn't recall her awakening her Runeline, unless she deliberately hid it from him, which is impossible because if you're not a professional, using any sort of energy, for example, Arcane, the Runeline will get riled up by that said medium.

"It doesn't matter now, is it?" Rolling her eyes at him, still mad at the earlier incident. Walking up toward the two siblings with a concerned expression while ignoring the dumbfounded Jayce.

'fuck! she really is Bipolar!'

"What's going on out there? Are you guys hurt?" Cait asks as she looks out front, she sees a bloody battle occurring between what seemed similar to the PiltOver's legion and Vander's gang.

If this had been a couple of hours ago, she might not be able to cope with the situation and would have vomited on the spot, but she had already experienced such gore and bloody battles earlier. Although she still isn't comfortable with the situation, it's much better than the first time.

"It's the legion..." Vi then explains to Cait what she knows.

"Rebellion...?" Jayce muttered confusingly; this is the first time he heard about this topic being brought up, since the creation of the kingdom, no such civil war had ever happened.

But he quickly connects the dots and could understand why. Even rats would fight back once they were cornered, much less human beings that were forced into this condition.

At this moment,

'DING! Player, please choose one of the following options

Side with the government, Reward: Zoro's three sword style.

Side with the rebel/ Vander, Reward: Death book.

Stay neutral, Reward: 1000 strength.

'Huh? Death Book? What's that?' Jayce thought as he gazes at the second option. The others are what he already knew about.

The 1000 strength is very tempting, after all, his strength is around 4000 or so, about the same as an average D-ranker, and if he chooses the third option, it will be the easiest increment ever! Staying neutral means that he doesn't have to do anything and just calmly observes the war, not only would his strength increase by a whole new margin, the option would allow him to stay positive with both sides! It's profitable.

Then, there's the government. If he sides with the government, then both the PiltOver and the Zaun's upper echelons will be in his favour, but does he care about them? After knowing the dark secret that they do behind everyone's back, and what he went through just because of someone's greed, he had already put them on his scum list. Helping them is out of the equation.

Zoro's three sword style is indeed very tempting, as the guy is easily known to be one of the strongest swordsmen in the anime! Getting his style would give Jayce the ability to use swords, kind of badass if you ask him. Nonetheless, he would have to regretfully decline. The reward might be good, but the aftermath will be hectic and awkward.

Finally, it left him with the final choice, to help Vander with his rebellion. Both Vi and Powder can already be considered his dear disciples, so not helping his pupil out in their time of need, would be very scummy, wouldn't it? Plus the reward is...

'But what is Death Book? It sounds familiar...' Jayce thought as he sort through the memory hidden in his brain. Then his eyes brighten with excitement, he recalled a familiar anime from his past life.

'Name: Death Book.

Description: Those whose destiny is written in, shall vanish.

Usage: A soul-based attack ability.

Write the target's full name and birth date.

A sample of their D.N.A (hair, teeth, skin, meat...etc)

A ritual will happen once the conditions are met, the target will forcefully have their existence etch out from the river of destiny, forever banished to eternal slumber.

Cooldown: can only be used once a day.

Note: The target's soul prowess must not be higher than the user's.

'!' Although he has only heard of the anime and not actually watched the series, and according to the rumour in his past life, the book that Light possesses is extremely overpowering and very vile! Jayce looked at the description that the system gave, he couldn't help but let out cold sweats as it sounds terrifying...

'Etch out from the river of destiny, forever banished to eternal slumber.' That sentence alone gave him goosebumps, Jayce doesn't know the real meaning behind "Eternal slumber" but he feels like dying is a better consequence than whatever that is...

Imagine his enemy happens to have the book or something similar, they would just write his details down and somehow or someway obtain his D.N.A without him knowing, he could do nothing as the enemy would just kill him effortlessly!

Nonetheless, he puts that in the back of his mind as worrying and stressing about it would do nothing good for him. Plus, just like this "Death Book" there might be restrictions, the ones from above wouldn't allow such an overpowering item to exist. There must be a balance in the universe.

So with that thought, it puts his mind at ease as he moves to another topic.

'But what is Soul power?' Jayce mutters, he guesses that it's like another hidden stat that he doesn't know about, just like luck.

'.....' The system didn't respond.

Jayce frowns in annoyance as it means that he has to find out the information on his own, or does it mean that he has to obtain the reward first before he could ask or...?

'DING! Player has 10 seconds left before the challenge void itself.'

'10...9....8'

'oh, shit!' Seeing the timer ticking down, Jayce hurriedly brainstorm all of the options one last time as he soon declares his decision.

'I choose the second option.'
