16 What Have You Done, Feng Ze?

Feng Ze was the adopted son of the late general, Feng Chu Ping, who had been stationed at Jinyang Pass in the northwestern border. He was born in a small town on the northwest border. When he was eight years old, both his parents died under the iron cavalry of the spear army.

At that time, Feng Chu Ping had been married for several years, but he had been childless. Nevertheless he had a deep affection for his wife and determined not to accept any concubine. So he adopted this lonely and helpless child. Since the age of fifteen, Feng Ze had been guarding Jinyang Pass with Feng Chu Ping, rarely returning to his birth place. It had been ten years now.

As Madam Feng grew older and was eager to think about grand children, Feng Ze was nearly twenty five years old and still hadn't married another woman yet. At the strong request of his wife, Feng Chu Ping asked Emperor Ming to transfer Feng Ze back to the capital.

Emperor Ming expressed his gratitude to Feng Chu Ping for his merits in guarding the northwest. After recalling Feng Ze to the capital, he was named the General in charge of Internal Affairs, and was responsible for daily security inspections in the capital. To be compared to the modern era, it was equivalent to the post of the captain of the imperial capital's security guards.

Yang Yiting thought of Feng Ze's serious and upright appearance, and felt that the old emperor of the Dasheng Dynasty was quite knowledgeable in assigning Feng Ze to the role of a general.

Back to the present. When Yang Ruo learned that Yang Yiting had escaped safely in the alley that day, and had also met General Feng Ze, she secretly gnashed her teeth in anger.

Although Feng Ze was not born of General Feng Chu Ping, the Feng family treated him as if he had come out of them. It was said that Madam Feng could not have children.

According to Feng Chu Ping's undivided attitude towards his wife, it was unlikely that he would accept a concubine again in the future. Feng Ze was the only heir to the family. The Feng family had guarded the northwest border for generations. Although it was not as good as the previous Meng family, it also had a considerable status.

Yang Ruo snarled angrily. If she had known this, why bother to lead those hoodlums to that alley. The more she got angry, the more she snarled. She grabbed a glass bowl on the table and threw it to the ground fiercely.

Now she only hoped that she was worrying too much, and Yang Yiting didn't know that she was truly pregnant. Otherwise, why hadn't she moved after so many days?

If Yang Yiting knew what Yang Ruo thought, she would definitely say, "You really think too much." She was not a person who must repay her.

As a forensic doctor, she was accustomed to life and death, forming her indifferent personality. She never entangled the past, but paid more attention to the future. She would not take the initiative to harm others, but if someone wants to harm her and the people around her, she would never back down.

And right now, she had a lot to do. The three-year scientific expedition of Dasheng Dynasty came, and all the candidates from all over the country gathered in the capital to participate in the examination. The business of Beautiful Dreams and Luxurious Sets became busy all of a sudden, and the opportunity to make money should naturally be seized.

Feng Ze was even busier. During the national expedition, the security problem in the capital was of paramount importance. He couldn't get sloppy. He had just returned from the northwest and didn't know much about the situation in the capital. So, he had to adapt quickly.

Therefore, Feng Ze hadn't met Yang Yiting since that day. Naturally, Feng Ze didn't know that Yang Yiting was the woman whom the emperor bestowed marriage to Meng Yuan.

As a young general full of ambitions and promising future, how could he care about the gossip about who and whom the emperor gave to marry him? As long as the object of marriage was not his own.

Just when Yang Yiting sighed that this kind of day of sleeping until he woke up naturally and counting money to get cramps was so pleasant, a burst of news, like a thunder in the sky, spread in the capital. One of the people died, and the murderer was Feng Ze.

The matter originated in the dispute between literary scholars and martial combatants. Since Emperor Ming took the throne, Dasheng Dynasty had been following the path of equal emphasis on civil and military affairs.

This was originally excellent, but after a long journey, it was inevitable that there would be stumbling reefs. Over the years, disputes between civilians and military generals had also occurred from time to time.

On that day, in the most lively restaurant in Khitai, Taste Excellence, a group of civil scholars and a group of war combatants quarreled because of a disagreement. The two sides had a quarrel at first, but the literatis were good at debating, and there was a mention of weapon in the topic. How could a group of war combatants and civil scholars be able to deal with it?

War combatants believe that they could be killed but not humiliated. Hence, they raised their hands in combat as soon as anger came upon them, but the literati scholars did not show any weakness in backing down.

So, the two factions scuffled and it frightened the innkeeper who hastened to report the conflict.

When Feng Ze arrived at the scene, the whole place was out of control. Feng Ze had to resort to violence, using force to pull them away. Both sides respect Feng Ze, and when he persuaded them to stop fighting, they agreed.

But there was a scholar who was beaten a few times by a certain war combatants, holding a grudge, and when the man let go and retreated to salute Feng Ze, he lifted a celadon vase and slammed it on the back of his head.

Feng Ze took a look at the man, and became very angry. Originally, he didn't have a good impression of these literate scholars who were so full of themselves.

Now, seeing that the scholar was so insidious that he actually carried out a sneak attack on another martial combatant, he pushed the martial combatant away and threw the literati scholar to the ground with a palm of his hand.

But after the scholar fell to the ground, he never woke up again. He simply died like this.
