23 Meng Yuan To The Rescue

"This king's man, who dares?!"

With a low, but majestic voice, the words rang out clearly.

Following the prestige of the voice, an expressionless young boy came into view. He was slowly pushing a wheelchair.

In the wheelchair sat a young man, wearing a black silk robe. His black, tied hair, casually draped behind him. He had a finely shaped thin face with sharp eyebrows and starry eyes. Even though he was sitting in a wheelchair, his back was straight. The wheelchair didn't seem to affect his heroic posture which was glaring for everyone to see. His cold gaze fell, with a condescending aura, fell on Lu Ziqing.

Yang Yiting was stunned for a moment. The way this cold and lonely man caught her eyes was as if everything around her no longer existed, and only this black-clothed and black-haired figure was left in her view. Her heart suddenly missed a beat.

Who was this? Did he know her? But, how? Mo Xin was just a character she had made up. Who was this man in a wheelchair claiming to be "this king"? Wait a minute, the prince in a wheelchair? Could it be...?

Immediately afterwards, Lu Ziqing's words confirmed her guess. It was rare for Lu Ziqing to soften his tone. "I have seen lord Meng Yuan."

Meng Yuan was the son of the Princess Imperial, the sister of the reigning emperor, and he was also a war general of the Dasheng Dynasty who defended the border provinces and the country, against foreign enemies. So, the whole empire greatly regarded him. Although Lu Ziqing placed himself highly as the minister of Justice, he still respected the Meng family as royalty.

Meng Yuan said with a light expression: "The Ministry of Justice seems to be getting worse by the day. If not, they won't be arresting some irrelevant people for the brunt of it."

Lu Ziqing's face became pale when he heard this, but he couldn't show any weakness. Only he himself knew that the current Justice Department was indeed as the Meng Yuan said. Its inefficiency was why his father lobbied with the emperor to put him in charge of the Justice Department because it would be easier to make fast and great achievements in such a place.

However, as the minister of the Justice Ministry, he couldn't be ridiculed in the public in this way, or else no one would feel comfortable with the Ministry anymore. He was uncertain for a while, then he said. "Lord Meng Yuan, this case is not a trivial matter. This is a high grade murder case. We must not let anyone suspicious slips through our fingers. But, why did you say that Mo Xin is your man?"

"I said he's my man, or do you want me to explain it to you?" Meng Yuan's tone remained cold and unchanging.

Lu Ziqing was perplexed for a while and didn't know how to answer the question.

Meanwhile, Yang Yiting probably guessed that Meng Yuan was here to help her. Although she couldn't understand the reason for this, but with such a great opportunity, she would be a fool if she didn't seize the opportunity. If Lu Ziqing was to take her to the Justice Ministry, and should she tell him her true identity, then the consequences would be disastrous.

So she immediately walked to Meng Yuan and bowed respectfully to him and said, "Thank you, my lord, for coming to my rescue, otherwise I'll be eating prison food for the next few days like General Feng Ze."

Feng Ze coldly snorted to Lu Ziqing whose facial expression was quite ugly.

But Lu Ziqing still insisted on asking Yang Yiting: "Mo Xin, since you are from the Meng mansion, why did you hide your identity in the first place and pretend to be a senior Qin Mo Xin?"

This Lu Ziqing was really persistent. Yang Yiting said helplessly: "Master Lu, don't you think that my pretense is beneficial to the Justice Ministry? Master Lu, don't you think that it would have been bad for the Justice Ministry not to have a coroner? Should there not be an opening for me in your department, master Lu?"

Qin Lin's apprentice could also be said to be part of the Justice Department. If it was known to the public that the Justice Department could't even get a piece of work done, wouldn't it be even more condemning that they were asking outsiders for help? Therefore, hearing what Yang Yiting said, Lu Ziqing could not think of a reason to refute.

Yang Yiting also accepted as soon as he saw it, and said to Lu Ziqing, "I have to conceal my identity, Master Lu. I hereby apologizes to you all, but don't worry, I will reveal everything to you later. But for now, let's take a look at this case."

Lu Ziqing knew that Yang Yiting was right. Due to the fact that Feng Ze was detained some time ago, Feng Ping Chuan, his mother, was extremely dissatisfied with the Ministry of Justice.

A booklet was written to Emperor Ming, and Dong Runan was severly scolded by Emperor Ming in the morning. The emperor gave him half a month to solve the case, otherwise he would be punished severely.

Dong Runan, who had always shown people his image as a smiling fox, had not been able to smile recently. It was really stressful for him. Now that the number one civil scholar was murdered in the street again, Lu Ziqing couldn't imagine how Emperor Ming and Dong Runan would react next.

So Lu Ziqing quickly ordered the corpses of Li Wenzheng and the murderer to be taken away, and some people on the scene he thought were suspicious. Then he asked her to report the matter level by level. The impact of this matter was so great that he couldn't call the shots by himself alone.

When he returned to the Justice Ministry, he brought Yang Yiting with him. Of course, he had released her. However, he still trusted her professional skills. And now, he urgently needed this kind of expertise.

However, since Meng Yuan said that Mo Xin was his own man, he would naturally ask Meng Yuan to ask Mo Xin to do things. So Lu Ziqing respectfully made a request to Meng Yuan.

Meng Yuan didn't glance at him, but looked at Yang Yiting, and said calmly. "Mo Xin decides everything on his own. I do not interfere."

Hearing this, the surprised Yang Yiting glanced at Meng Yuan since she couldn't dare to look directly at him due to her guilty conscience. Did he know that she was the eldest lady of the Yang family, the one who emperor Ming bestowed him in a marriage? Why did he help her? But when she met Meng Yuan's gaze, she felt that she was thinking too much. His eyes were as cold as before. It was as if nothing had happened.

Yang Yiting shook his head and decided to ignore this problem. No one could stop what she wanted to do. Anyway, she had already been divorced from a marriage arrangement once, and she was not afraid of the second divorce from the Meng family. The murder happened under her nose. As a professional crime scene investigator, she would never stand idly by.

So after saying goodbye to Xie Ming Yu and Feng Ze, she went to the Justice Ministry with Lu Ziqing. Just a while ago, she had conducted a preliminary survey of the scene, and also conducted a preliminary inspection of the two deceased. All that was left was to further inspect the corpses to verify her own guesses.

On the way to the Justice Ministry, she looked at a small piece of paper in her hand and smiled slightly. The note was stuffed by the young guard with the facial paralysis next to Meng Yuan. The paper contained Mo Xin's formulated origin. Such a created background was really suitable for her.

Meng Yuan was really meticulous, and Yang Yiting admired him secretly.
