3 No Root?

Back in the Konoha camp

"I'm surprised he survived," said Orochimaru with a grin on his face.

"Well, he should've died already. The poison already spread throughout his body."

As the two discussed the current state of Danzo, a ninja suddenly appeared outside of the tent where Danzo was getting treated. Noticing, Tsunade and Orochimaru looked at the entrance.

"What is it?" asked Tsunade.

"Lady Tsunade, the two ninjas that sacrificed themselves for Elder Danzo were holding off 12 ninjas from the Sand Village."

"12 ninjas? What are their ranks?"

"The other ninjas from the rescue team that got away said that the enemy had at least 3 jonins in their ranks. The others might only be chunins or genins."

"Why did they dispatch so many ninjas? Were they looking for Danzo?" asked Tsunade, looking at Orochimaru.

The current war had weakened the Hidden Sand Village, for them to send such a team means that they were on an important mission. Sending 3 jonins on a mission usually means that it's an S-rank mission, especially in times of war when jonins are most needed. Currently, the Sand Village only has around 200-300 jonins. This number is inflated because of wartime; each village needs to muster the most out of their military strength.

"I highly doubt that they would send 12 ninjas, including 3 jonins, just to kill Danzo," mentioned Orochimaru.

"Then why would they send out so many ninjas?" asked Tsunade.

"I don't know, but we have to find out. You, outside, send a team to capture those Sand ninjas."

"Yes, sir!"

The ninja outside quickly dispersed and formed a 15-man team, including 3 jonin ninjas that could hold off the other jonin ninjas from the Sand.

When the two Sannins finished talking, they suddenly felt a sudden change in Danzo's chakra. His chakra became different from what it was before; it was like a whole new person's chakra was added to Danzo's.

"What's happening to him?" asked Orochimaru with intrigue on his face.

"I don't know. The poison shouldn't have done anything to his chakra," answered Tsunade with a frown on her face.

When the two got closer to Danzo, he suddenly groaned and opened his eye slowly.

Danzo POV

After the old Danzo disappeared, I found myself in yet another dark place, but this time, I only needed to open my eyes to find light. When I woke up, I was expecting myself to be in a desert, where I was before. However, when I opened my eyes, I saw the faces of two of the Sannins, Tsunade and Orochimaru. Both of the Sannins were looking at me with intrigue in their eyes. I felt like I was their test subject.

"What are you two looking at?" I said with a frown.

I was shocked when my mouth uttered those words. In my past life, I wasn't this hostile to anyone, not even my close friends with whom I would mess around. After thinking about it for a bit, I came up with the conclusion that me and Danzo became one, I'm guessing that his personality is influencing me a bit. My head was also filled with his memories, like they were my own. I can now remember what happened to my arm and eye.

"I just saved you, and this is how you talk to me? At least say thank you," said Tsunade with an annoyed look.

Orochimaru just gave me a smile and stepped back, allowing me to sit up where I was laying down.

"What happened to you, Lord Danzo?" asked Orochimaru with a hint of sarcasm when he called me lord.

"Hmp, lord my ass," murmured Tsunade.

"The Sand's Elder, Chiyo, was trickier than I thought. I was leading a team on a mission, but then we got ambushed by their ninjas. There were around 30 of them, including Chiyo. With only 15 ninjas, including 4 jonins and me, we were outnumbered. All the other ninjas were killed, so I fled. They managed to get rid of my eye and took advantage of it. In my blind spot, they cut off my right arm. I quickly fled when I lost an arm, but Chiyo already poisoned me without me noticing."

Although I spoke the truth, there were also some lies in those words, and I think Tsunade and Orochimaru noticed those lies. Though I did flee away, I used the remaining jonin ninjas to hold them back so I could escape.

"Is that so?" asked Orochimaru with the same sarcasm.

"Whatever, I'm going to heal others that are injured."

Me and Orochimaru looked at the leaving Tsunade. After she left, Orochimaru discussed the current situation on the front lines and about the 12 ninjas that were sent out by the Hidden Sand. He also told me about the 5 ninjas that rescued me, and 2 of them sacrificing themselves to save me. There was a hint of amusement in my head when I heard about the 2 guys that "Sacrificed" themselves for me; I wanted them to be in the Root.

"Well, Danzo-sama, I will be taking my leave," mentioned Orochimaru.

"Alright."

When I tried to remember anything about the Root, there was nothing. I guess Danzo still hasn't made Root yet. I want to make Root as soon as possible because I currently have no power in Konoha. All I have is an elder title of Konoha. The only reason why I am respected is that I was a student of Lord 2nd, and I was in the same team as Hiruzen.

I need to create my backing as soon as possible. I need to leave the front line and convince Hiruzen to sponsor me on making Root. Building the base of Root won't be a problem, as I am the leader of the Shimura clan and an elder of Konoha. What I need right now is men. I need Hiruzen's help to gather men from other clans and possibly children that I can personally train to make them loyal to me. I don't know where Danzo from the anime got the cursed tongue eradication seal from, so I will have to do without it. I'll just have to brainwash them.

After Orochimaru left the tent, he was later greeted by Tsunade who finished healing the last ninjas who were injured.

"You finished talking to that bastard?" asked Tsunade.

Tsunade never liked Danzo because he was always trying to restrain the power of the Sannins. She guessed that it was done because he didn't want one of them to be Hokage. Though Tsunade didn't really care about the position of Hokage, the fact that she was getting restrained irritated her.

"He changed," mentioned Orochimaru with a straight face.

"What do you mean? His chakra did change, but It might have something to do with the poison or something," said Tsunade with confusion on her face.

"No, I don't mean that."

"Then what do you mean?"

"I've worked with Danzo before, and he isn't the type to let things go easily. Usually, he would've sent out 50 ninjas just to kill Chiyo. But now, it's like he doesn't care."

"Hahahaha. The poison did get into his head; maybe he became a retard."

"....."

Orochimaru just stood there thinking about what happened to Danzo. Then suddenly, he smirked and walked away, leaving Tsunade who just shrugged and went to her tent.
