9 D-Rank Dungeon

I was currently leaning against a glass skyscraper which seemed to be a normal work office. The dungeon runners are going to enter any second now and once I see the government agents turn around, then will I sneak into the portal.

Killing goblins in the previous dungeon was easy work, so I believe I can slaughter what comes at me in this dungeon. Though I can't be arrogant and expect myself to kill all of them right away. I'll make sure I can kill them one by one and then move onto groups depending on the type of monster.

"We're entering now. Everybody guards up and alert the raid team before you go and kill something," says the young master with an arrogant expression.

The entire raid team enters, but this time the government dungeon runners that stayed behind, weren't as incompetent as the previous ones. They stood guard in front of the portal like a statue.

Their expressions were indifferent. I couldn't tell if they were bored or took their job too seriously. I mean they were guarding a D-rank gate, I would understand for a B or maybe even C, but why a D-rank-

Oh… it's probably because of that young master. Oh well, I'll just have to sneak in my way.

I gathered all the info I could before coming to a final plan. There was a perimeter around the portal and outside of the perimeter are the government dungeon runners. The portal appeared in the middle of the road so you can access this portal from the front and the back. Not many people walk by here, so there should be nobody snitching.

"I'll just go from above if going around doesn't work," I whisper to myself.

I climbed up one of the partly destroyed buildings that were affected by the portal spawning. It wasn't that hard to climb up it but it was hard to try and not make a sound. My time to get at portal height would have been cut in half if I didn't have to silence my footsteps.

Once I saw the top of the portal, I jumped with all my strength. My foot slipped slightly but I was able to cling on without making much noise. I could hear the rumbling of the portal below me, clearly displeased.

It was said that portals had their personality but it has never been proven.

I didn't waste any more time as I swung down headfirst into the portal.

FWOOSH

A sense of nausea hit me like a ton of bricks. I suddenly dove headfirst into something soft and then continued to roll around in… snow?

It was soft and cold. Whenever I breathed out, a mist would form in front of me. Though the snow was cold, it was like a cold blanket wrapped around me. Since no snow was falling, I just looked up into the sky almost forgetting why I was here.

Suddenly, I hear the crunching of snow from beside me, making me jolt up from my cold but cozy position. I scouted the area around me, looking around with cold eyes, ready to attack anything that came my way.

Grrrrr

I could hear the growls of wolves come from behind a tree. It seemed my ears were right, as 5 wolves came out from behind a snow-covered tree. As I saw the snow-white wolves that were the height of my waist, I could feel most of my emotions fade away.

It was something that helped me in the first dungeon when I was nervous. I would take deep breaths that matched my movements. Then, I would try to extinguish all emotions that I had, from my body. The point is to not feel anger, sadness, joy, and most importantly fear.

Anger would cloud your sense of judgment, not allowing you to think at all during battle. You would also do reckless moves that are all on instinct.

Sadness would make you weak, due to your pitying of the thing you are about to kill.

Joy will fill you with arrogance and if you are a battle maniac, it will cloud your sense of judgment like how anger does.

Finally, fear. Fear will make you hesitate with your movement. If you had half a second to kill the thing in front of you but you hesitate due to fear, you will miss the chance provided to you, potentially getting you killed.

Once I had rid all emotions from my body, I felt calm. The world around me slowed and the only thing I could hear was my heartbeat and the kindles of my rainbow flame that sparked in my hand.

I held out my palm towards one of the wolves while circling them. Then a rainbow flame came bursting out, instantly disintegrating the wolf in front of me. The other wolves saw this but didn't falter as they howled at me and started to leap at me from different angles.

I dodged the first wolf by ducking down and then rolling away to dodge the second one. The third one almost bit my arm off from behind me but I lifted my arm, causing it to miss its bite as I slammed its head into the snow. It started growling and shaking its head wildly, but as soon as rainbow flames came bursting out of my hand, it became dead silent.

The fourth wolf that lunged at me, landed right in front of me but instantly pounced back. I could feel the fear that all 3 remaining wolves slowly emitted.

I did a back roll into a standing position as I wanted to try and grasp the concept of bloodlust. You could build your bloodlust by grasping the feeling you get when you killed something or about to kill something. But you can't build bloodlust by killing ants, it had to be something that could potentially threaten your life.

With bloodlust, you emit a certain type of pressure that can make anything including humans submit to you. But of course, that only depends on the amount of pressure you can handle.

"Hahhhh…"

A cold mist emits from my mouth as I feel fire well up in my throat. The wolves, naive of what I'm about to do, lunge forward at me once again but this time I let out a rainbow fire from my mouth, turning 2 of the wolves to ash.

As soon as I killed those 2, I closed my eyes while trying to retain the feeling that I felt for a split second… that was bloodlust. I was unable to keep a hold of it but I felt like I could do it on the next kill.

The final wolf circled me as I followed it with my eyes. It lunged at me quickly, but I rolled out of the way and fired a burst of rainbow fire from my hand.

Half of the wolf's body fell over as the rest disintegrated. I tightly grabbed onto the dissipating feeling as if it were almost tangible. The longer I grabbed onto it, the more familiar it became.

"HUFF HUFF HUFF," I laid on the ground sweating.

I closed my eyes and felt the feeling once again and then released it. I didn't feel anything at all so I knew I had to test it out on another wolf to get results.

"*sigh*... I'm tired and hungry. Why didn't I put some food in my inventory? " I complain whilst leaning against a tree trunk.

I haven't run into the boss nor the raid team yet, but I have been practicing other things.

I've been practicing getting rid of one last emotion that kept clinging on no matter how hard I tried to suppress it… it was disgust. I don't feel nauseous when I look at an animal with guts spewing out, but that doesn't mean the back of my mind feels disgusted at what's in front of me.

It took me quite a while to assimilate it into my emotion-extinguished state but after 2 hours of trial and repeat, I was successful.

I've also tested out the map and inventory function. The map was able to chart where I have been with a simple layout of white and brown specks representing trees.

The inventory came in handy for when I wanted to store a partly burned wolf. I also learned that corpses didn't stack in my inventory but things such as sticks and rocks were able to. I don't know the limit since I currently have… 162 sticks and 378 rocks that I picked up when I was bored.

Finally, my bloodlust. I was able to grasp enough bloodlust to cause most wolves to fear me and back away, but not enough to make them pass out. This meant I should be able to scare off some of the weaker humans which put a smile on my face.

"While I'm waiting for my MP and SP to recover, I should buy some things from the shop since I've killed lots of wolves so far. Probably triple or quadruple the number of goblins I killed last time.

I bought the skill book, weapon, and 3 healing potions while storing all of them in my inventory for now. Then I converted the rest to US dollars which filled me with excitement. I wasn't poor anymore and I could live my life how I want to.

Now I just need to leave here and get rid of the ant named James...
