2 0002 - Learning the language

[A/N: FYI, I know in the wiki that Predators are said to see mainly in the infrared portion of the electromagnetic spectrum, but for this story, since its an AU, this will be different, their vision will be similar to that of humans]

[A/N This entire story, is an AU, don't expect everything to follow the timelines/stories you may be used to]

As weeks passed and my days grew bland from repetition, I began trying to decipher and understand my species' language.

What else could I do?

I have gained a hold over my emotions and sensations, and I have nothing else I could do at this time!

Ever since I was put into the cradle, my days have been on repeat!

Wake up, get fed, sleep, wake up, get fed, sleep, and so on!

It's maddening!

So, I focused my mind on a task that should occupy quite a bit of my time.

I won't even begin to describe how embarrassing it is to have so little control of my body. No wonder babies cry so much.

...

By the time six months passed and I was able to control my body enough to crawl, the female caretakers that took care of all the babies took us out from our cribs and placed us into a play pin of sorts filled with toys of all kinds.

Only here did I start gaining progress in learning their language, which was more complex than I realized.

I was slowly but surely comprehending their language.

...

As more and more time passed.

It was eventually 12 months since I was reborn, a year.

At this time, I knew around half of whatever the women were saying, and I could finally walk on my two legs a month ago.

And on the night of my first birthday, something strange woke me during the night.

It was the sound of beeping, something that I should not be hearing or have ever heard in the nursery.

Opening my eyes, I couldn't help but think I was hallucinating.

Why would I think this?

Because for some reason unknown to me, there was a floating screen before me...

'The hell?' I cursed.

'What the hell is that?' I asked.

'Is this like some kind of VR Status screen kids and teens played?'

The medical and video game industry was developed enough in my past life for realistic virtual realities to be possible through a VR Pod or Helmet.

Even I in my younger days played quite a bit of VRMMORPGs, so the screen floating before my eyes was quite familiar.

The question brought to mind was, how and why?

But in the end, I just wrapped it up in a mental bag labeled 'Mystery' since I doubt I will ever learn the truth behind it.

I was happy that it was, at least in English and not in the written language of my race.

So my race is called 'Yautja?'

And my clan name is Zo'Saar?

Interesting...

What's this 'System Shop' and gift bag?

With a mental command, I opened the System Shop.

[Open Gift Bag?]

'Sure? Why not?'

[Gift Bag: Kenbunshoku Haki(I), Basic Info Packet of the Yautja, Basic Info Packet of the Xenomorphs, All-Speak, Unknown Dungeon Key(Tier 1)]

Feeling a sudden headache along with a flood of information, I couldn't help but grunt in pain as I tried to process the data.

Once I did, I couldn't help but see the Predators, otherwise known as the Yautja, as much more than they appeared.

Not to mention their seemingly favorite prey, the Xenomorph, a parasitic-hive-like species of predators that seem to be living weapons and have the potential to be, quite literally, a scourge that can take down entire worlds and civilizations...

Although, from the information I received, my life as a Predator, a Yautja, will be filled with trouble in the future...

Especially when it comes to the trials, honor system, and caste system.

If I were to do something 'Dishonorable' or wrong, I could be exiled and given the title of 'Bad Blood.'

Meaning I would be hunted down by the more skilled hunters of the Yautja if my crimes were severe enough, and let's say, I would not last a second against those monsters.

At least there were some upsides to being a Yautja, with some of them already being listed in my passive skills.

I would be faster, stronger, react faster, and even live much longer than a human ever could, with some Yautja even living over 1,000 years of age!

Other than that, I also got some info on All-Speak, Kenbunshoku Haki, and the dungeon key.

All-Speak does what it says, allows me to understand all languages, written or spoken, and even the ability to communicate those languages or write them.

Meanwhile, the Kenbunshoku Haki would be a great help in my survival. Essentially, it can grow to the level of senses threats or danger, emotions of others, and even in the much higher levels, see seconds into the future.

And finally, the Dungeon Key would allow me to summon at any time a dungeon in which I can train and hone my skills.

Seeing as it's labeled Tier 1, I would assume that there are higher leveled Dungeons I could get access to but are currently unavailable to me.

But enough about that, from what I learned from the Info Packets, Earth does exist in this universe, although whether or not it's the Earth that I once called home is undetermined.

Although due to my...situation, I doubt I would be welcomed back on Earth.

Something I did note, however, was that due to my new race, quite a few things that made up my personally were changed.

For example, I was easily irritable, prideful, and had quite a few Hunting urges.

Is this shit actually genetic to their species?

No wonder Yautja women usually have more than one newborn per pregnancy, with a maximum of up to five newborns per pregnancy!

And due to their rituals and way of life, with most not surviving to become an 'Official' Adult, I can see why their high fertility was necessary.
