Academy

Hakono Academy

One of the earliest academies that was founded during the reign of Emperor Eric. The academy's objective is to preach about magic to nobles and commoners alike that would allow them to protect themselves and to maintain peace on the continent.

When the demons invaded the continent of Avelon, only nobles had access to the power of magic, which allowed the demons to easily pillage and ravage villages. It was only when the countries within the continent were unified that the continent was finally able to fight against the demons.

It was also then that Luric and Braham preached about magic to nobles and commoners alike without discrimination in order to strengthen the overall power of the continent.

Magical Academies would preach the teachings of Luric and Braham without discrimination in status and nurture powerful mages and warriors generation after generation. But of course, that only applies to those with passable talent.

These academies would never interfere in political and organizational struggles and maintain absolute neutrality. The magical academies are only allowed to interfere when the entire continent is threatened with foreign invasion or destruction.

The Hakono Academy is the only magical academy in Hakono city and is located on the central region of Hakono City. The central-most area of the Academy is a giant tree, the Hakono Tree.

From a distance, one would feel the aura of majesty emitted by the Hakono tree and the academy seemed to be an extension of the tree's majesty.

Inside the academy, rows upon rows of buildings made of stones can be seen.

At this time, Rick stood among the crowd of freshly enrolled students of Hakono Academy as they looked at the majestic sight of the academy before them.

"Hakono Academy... Finally, I'm here!" a student exclaimed as his eyes sparkled with excitement.

Rick and the others also had a somewhat similar look on their faces as they looked at the academy.

"Greetings to everyone! Welcome to Hakono Academy. I am Seirin Kyouka, a second year student and I will show you the way to the Dormitory." a man in black uniform said as he gestured for the students to follow him.

Shortly afterwards, they arrived at the Dormitory area. In front of the students are rows of three-story buildings.

"The buildings on this side are the Boy's dormitory while the buildings on that side belong to the girls" Seirin said as he pointed at the buildings.

Seirin Kyouka and a few seniors gave the students a piece of paper with a number indicating their room number.

Unlike the Golden Gate Academy, students are only allowed to live inside the academy, even if their homes are just a few blocks from the academy. This is to encourage the commoners and nobles to foster friendly relationships with each other.

Rick's room was on the second floor of the seventh building, Room 728. As one of the students with outstanding performance during the entrance examinations, he was one of the first to be guided to his room.

It turns out that Rick had a roommate. A second year black haired man with glasses named Gladion.

Rick greeted Gladion and said a few words. Gladion also greeted back but his replies were dead-end kind of replies where you don't know how to respond.

It seemed as if he only bothered to reply out of politeness but his eyes never showed any form of interest towards Rick.

'Well, I guess my days in my room will be quiet. At least my roommate isn't some kind of loud overly passionate idiot.' Rick thought to himself as he couldn't help but flash out a bitter smile.

...

In a flash, a week had passed and the seven day enrollment period had just finished.

At this time, a crowd of students in black uniforms stood on the open field with a stage in front of them.

A bald old man climbed on the stage and looked at the students in front of him with a smile on his face. He didn't seem to carry an extraordinary aura, as if he was just a regular bald old man.

"Greetings, students. I am Darius Granada, the Headmaster of the Academy. I formally welcome you to the academy" the old man said with a loud voice;

"I look forward to your future. May the spirit of the Hakono Tree bless you. You may now go to your classrooms" the old man ended his long and boring speech about peace and the objectives of the academy.

He then walked away in an ordinary fashion while the students dismissed from the open field as they made their way to their own classrooms.

Currently, there are 21 sections for the first year students. There are about 50 students per section.

In reality, it was more like the first section and the 20 sections.

The first section belonged to the elite students with outstanding talents and potential. Naturally, Rick belonged to the first section, along with a few talented students.

At this time, Rick sat on a chair with his hands on the table as he silently waited for the arrival of their teacher.

He looked around and saw the serious and dull expressions of his classmates. The atmosphere around the room seemed to be filled with tension. Some of them looked back at Rick with a hint of disdain.

As students of their caliber, it can be considered to be normal for them to have a sense of superiority around them, especially for the nobles.

The First section consists of mostly noble students and descendants or relatives of Elite mages and warriors. There are only a few commoner students.

Although Rick belonged to the Gordon clan, his origin was supposed to be a secret so he can only take on the commoner route.

Among the kids from the village, only Carla can be considered to have some status as Lisa's niece. Rick and Leon can only be considered to be commoners who happened to be friends with Carla.

'And here I thought my roommate was already quiet enough. It seems that my days in the academy would really be quiet' Rick thought to himself.

First impressions are important but these impressions usually don't last long.

Sometimes, they would actually turn out to be the exact opposite.
