It's a boy!

David slowly opened his eyes, and all he saw was blinding light. The world slowly became clear. He began to see people. He tried to reach out, but what he saw was astonishing. His arms were as tiny as they could be. He was reborn!

He could hear a lot of voices. Outside the room, some people were shouting "It's a boy! It's a boy!". David was slowly analyzing the situation. He was reborn, and clearly the family he belonged to was of some importance. There were a lot of maids, and his mother was fast asleep. Then, a middle-aged man suddenly entered the room. Every one gave him some space, and a maid picked David and handed him to the man.

"Haha! This old man has a son. Now lets see what that old bastard will do when he hears about this."

David was struggling to be put down but the man wouldn't budge. They locked onto a staring contest when David's mother started stirring. She unconsciously reached for her baby, and the man immediately placed David in her hands. She awoke and looked at David with the loving eyes of a mother, eyes that David had never seen before, him being an orphan in the previous life.

When David saw her, he melted inside, crying out for the first time since he was born. He swore inside that he would definitely protect this family of his, and wouldn't make the same stupid mistakes of the past. His mother, Maria, and his father, Gabriel, were looking at him with eager eyes and he was screaming with joy inside.

After a while, they took him out the room and into a study, where an old man was seated. Gabriel then kneeled down, saying "Father, my son". He raised David so that the old man could see him. Gabriel's father, Percival, gazed at David gently.

"Ahh Gabriel, you finally got me a heir. After five years we shall see if Mary's nine months of pain were worth it. Take him, and hope that he will not disappoint."

Gabriel took David back to his arms and then replied, "Don't worry father, this son of mine will not bring shame to your name".

The trio left the study and entered what seemed to be a nursery. They placed David in a cradle and sat next to him, discussing at great length about Percival's words. Maria was furious at Gabriel at his quick commitment knowing that her father in law was not a kind man, and that if David could not pass the test.

David, meanwhile, was tired; he was a baby after all! He slowly drifted asleep satisfied that he had a shot of redemption, and a chance for revenge.
