# 7

Later that night, as Amaris laid in bed, her mind was filled with so many thoughts. Thoughts about what she found out today. Earlier in the morning, she had assumed she was done with all the drama and crap in her life, with no chance of any extraordinary shit happening to her. Only for fate to play a real fast one on her. She pondered as she stared at the ceiling. Amaris never enjoyed being the center of attention. She preferred being unnoticed. That way, she wouldn’t get bullied or harassed.

She didn’t even know how to comprehend all that had happened, from the giant tree with a secret door to an entire universe, to the enchanted garden, long-lost uncle, and then to her mum’s big confession slash revelation.

“Ahhh”, she screamed into her pillow with frustration. She felt like her head was going to explode from all the thinking. Amaris knew she had to stop, but she didn’t know how to. In fact, how could she, when she just found out her whole life, had been a lie.

“Just when I thought things were getting better”, Amaris said to herself. She sat on her bed, resting her head against the wall, as stared at the stars through her room window while the night wind blew into her room and across her face.

” how I wish my life was as peaceful as they were,” she thought, as she kept on staring at the quiet stars. Soon after, she drifted off to sleep.

Some minutes after she dozed off, the night became chilly. She could feel shivers throughout her body as she slept. “Why is it so cold”, she thought. She stretched her hand to get the blanket to cover herself up, when her hand touched something wet. “.. uh... What in the Wor..”, it was at that moment she realized that she wasn’t on her bed anymore but was lying on something soft and cold.

Amaris opened her eyes and realized she was in a different place that looked rather familiar. She was lying on the ground close to a stream bed which was flowing from the waterfall afar off. Her eyes searched everywhere in disbelief. “Where the fuck am I?”. She yelled in utter confusion

“You’re in my divine realm” , said a soft voice from behind. Amaris looked back to find the person who just spoke to her. Only for her to see the beautiful lady she saw in her dream while on the plane. “You….” she says as she gets up from the ground and faces the lady.

“You are the lady from my dream”, she looked as awe-struck as ever. She stood there in front of Amaris, looking all glorious in a long sleeveless silk dress that hugged her every curve with a slit that showed of her milky skin. Her white wavy hair fell to her shoulders and she had on a headpiece ornament with a pendant on her forehead that looked almost as enchanting as her grey eyes. She was a sight to behold . Amaris stood there, admiring her alluring beauty .

She stood there for a little while, still staring at her before realising that she was looking like a crazy person . Snap out of it, Amaris, she scolded herself and regained herself. After finally composing herself, she noticed that the place she was in looked oddly familiar, ‘ since she’s the lady from my dream, then this must be the place i dreamt about”, Amaris said as she continued looking around. “Yes it is”, the lady replied her

“Well, how did I get here, or is this another dream?” Amaris asked as she surveyed her surroundings and then looked up at the lady suspiciously, taking up a defence stance.

“No, it’s not. I brought your subconscious state here while your body is still sleeping on your bed. “

“You brought me here? Why” Amaris asked. ‘ what could she possibly want from me?’. Amaris knew she had never met this lady before and it’s obvious that she’s not from where she’s from, because come on, look at her, she looked out of this world, well, my world . And the fact that she brought me to this place means that she’s not a normal person.

“Who are you?”

“ah! I believe I haven’t introduced myself”, she smiled warmly at Amaris. “I am Selena, the goddess and( divine mother) of the people of Narthdal

“And I thought things couldn’t get any stranger” all this in one day? ‘sigh’, She felt like she was going insane, running her fingers through her curls she tried to take in what the lady just said. She felt like she was going insane.

Maybe meeting her wasn’t really a bad thing, Amaris reasoned. She remembered her mum said that their goddess was the one who appointed her to defeat namlock and now that she’s meeting her in person, she can just ask her to give this mission to some other person so she could go back to her normal life, Amaris thought, as she smiled to herself, happy with her decision. So, you’re the moon goddess ?”

“Yes, I am”

“Good, you are the one who chose me to defeat Namlock. Well, I am sorry to disappoint you but I can’t to do it. I’m not capable for the job, so I think it would be best for us all, if you could just give it to someone else, someone more capable of doing the job, you know”,

“I don’t believe that you are not capable of it.”

“Well, I don’t want to do it”, she stated very rudely.

“ Why don’t you?

" I don't know, maybe, except from the fact that it’s very dangerous and I could end up dead, I just want to go back to my normal life”, she said sarcastically

“Watch your tone young lady”, the moon goddess scolded her. She knew that the task that she bestowed on her was quite daunting and that was why she had tolerated her rude behaviour.

“I know the task given to you seems difficult and dangerous, but my child, I want you to know that I didn’t make any mistake choosing you for this. You are the one I chose, so, you must be the one to defeat Namlock

"Can't you just choose someone else?" Amaris yelled. She knew she was out of line, screaming at the moon goddess, but she was tired, tired of everyone trying to talk her into doing what she doesn't want to do.

"No, I can't. Amaris it's your destiny and I won't change it. The only thing I can do, is to guide you into fulfilling it"

Amaris doesn't respond to her and they both just stare at each other in silence.

"Aren’t you curious to know why I chose u, don’t u want to discover your special abilities, find out more insight about who you are and where you come from and don’t you want to find your birth mother.”

The mention of Amaris birth mother piqued her interest. Since she found out the truth about her past, she had been so confused about everything that she hadn’t once thought about her. Amaris felt very guilty about this. She knew that her mother giving her away at birth wasn’t her fault; she only did it to protect her and it must have been hard for her mother to give her away just after her birth.

“Is she alive?” she asked

“Yes, she is. I know Jadis told you about Narthdal and your birth parents, but there’s more to it than even she know. And the only way you can find out is to go on this quest ”

After listening to Selena, Amaris was confused on what to do.She initially didn’t want to go on any quest that will require her killing a demon, but now at the mention of her mother, she changes her mind as she is now curious to know more about her mum, birthplace, and her routes.

“I know you might think you are weak, that you are not strong enough to defeat Namlock, but my child I want you to know that you are not weak. I chose you because I know what you are capable of, I’ve blessed you with so much power, strong enough to destroy kings and Queens, nations, but it’s all up to you to decide what you want to do with this power. It is your destiny and you must fulfill it, not just for you, but for the people who are waiting for you, hoping for your return, for your victory”.

“Your mother made an enormous sacrifice to protect you, please don’t let it be in vain”

NARTHDAL

Back in the dark castle in NARTHDAL, up in the king’s chamber. There stands a tall figure on the balcony at the end of the large dark room. His black hair swayed in the wind as he stared down at Narthdal, sipping a red liquid from the chalice in his hand. As he sips from the chalice ,his lips curls up into an evil smirk and his red eyes glints with mischief. He chuckled as he looks into the dead night.

“She’s alive”
