What Nolan couldn't understand even more was why Scarlet didn't send Ian away after kissing her. He noticed that she looked annoyed by the sudden kiss but Scarlet only muttered something under her breath.

What exactly had he missed? How wrong was he to guess that after the divorce Scarlet wouldn't let anyone get this close to her again?

Nolan put aside his feelings for now as he couldn't stand to have Ian enjoy getting under his skin. He would love nothing more than to wipe the smile from Ian's face with a punch but knew that was going too far over someone being near Scarlet. He had lost his chance and there was nothing he could do about it.

Still, it didn't feel good to watch a stranger be so close to Scarlet. Toying with her hair and her not saying anything about it. This wasn't the Scarlet that Nolan knew.
