Chapter 6 A Stealth Operation

As Silver stood outside looking up at a very tall building he asked "Does he really expect me to find the documents the client wants in this place." Silver glanced at the paper once more and stared at the bottom note that read "Ps the documents you're looking for should be on the very bottom of the building."

Silver tucked the paper back into his shirt and said "Seriously this place has underground floors too." Silver walked towards the door and said "With a place this big they're bound to be high on security." Silver reached for the door and gave it a tug and much to his surprise it opened with ease. Silver stood there at the entrance for a few moments before saying "Maybe I won't take the front entrance."

As Silver turned around he saw two guards walking towards him talking to each other. Without a second thought Silver quickly got into the building and hid behind a desk as he said "Maybe it's not a setup and I just got lucky." Silver peeked over the counter and watched as the two guards walked across the room and out of it as they asked one another "Did we forget to close that door?"

Silver glanced around the room and said "Good they didn't notice me." As Silver stood up he began to walk down some hallways in the building as he yawned and said "I'd seriously prefer some easy assassination assignments, searching a building is such a pain in the ass." Silver stopped moving and heard footsteps coming from a door beside him. Silver stood there waiting behind the door as he said "I guess it doesn't matter so long as the job pays well." As the door opened a man in white walked past him talking to someone on the phone about some strange chemicals.

The man didn't seem to notice Silver but just before the door closed Silver used the opportunity to slip in through the door unnoticed. Silver began to walk down some steps as he stretched and said "Found some stairs." Once he reached the bottom he opened a door that leads to a huge open room with a giant green pillar with something in it in the center. Silver stared at it for a moment and began to walk towards it as he said "I finally found something."

Silver ignored the giant structure and instead walked over to a desk to his left as he smiled and said "I can just quickly grab some documents and leave." Silver began to search the desks as he asked "Are these guys the type to store their documents somewhere else?" Silver glanced around the room and seen a few cameras pointing to just about everywhere. Silver reached into his pocket and said "It's a good thing I had Jax get me this jammer."

Silver put the hammer back in his pocket and began to walk towards the giant green structure in the center as he asked "If I were an important document where would I be?" Silver stood a few inches away from the giant green pillar in the center as he noticed that the thing floating inside appeared to be some sort of creature. Silver stared at it for a while and said "You are one ugly looking bastard, whatever you are anyway."

Silver glanced to his left at another desk as he saw a computer sitting there with its screen on. Silver sat down and began to search through the files of the computer as he said "Looks like that guy forgot to log out." Silver began to open various files as he said "This is so boring, why couldn't I have found a more interesting job." Silver glanced behind him at the giant creature and noticed a label near the bottom that reads "Experiment 2-0-4."

Silver clicked on a file and pulled out the piece of paper as he nodded and said "Yup, just as I thought, they only want information on this place, it doesn't matter what kind so long as I can get something I'm not supposed to." Silver stuffed the paper back into his shirt and pulled out a USB as he said "I wonder what kind of computer this is."

Silver stuck the USB in and turned to look at the creature again as he yawned and said "Having a computer that isn't affected by an electrical hammer is pretty handy, but you'd think that they'd at least have cameras that are the same." Silver sat there for a few moments and reached into his pocket as he said "Wait I never turned this on." Silver stared at the jammer for a few moments and then glanced at the cameras as he said "This is definitely a setup."

Silver spun the chair back around and said "Wait no, if it were a setup they would've come after me by now." Silver stared intently at the cameras as he asked "Are they turned off?" Silver sat there for a few minutes and said "I guess that just makes my job that much easier." Silver pulled the USB from the computer and said "I already got most of this stuff so I should go before anyone realizes, I mean I am already pushing my luck quite a bit."

Silver began to walk in the opposite direction of where he came in from as he smiled and said "If it is a setup they'll probably expect me to go the same way I went in, I'd better take another route." Silver glanced back at the creature once more and said "You're a face I'm not gonna be missing anytime soon, if I can even call that ugly thing a face."

As he left the building he glanced back at it and said "I wasted around three hours, I spent around half an hour getting here, if I spend another half an hour to get back then I should be able to pick up Amber and stay in a hotel. Silver nodded and said, "Yeah that'll work." Silver pulled the USB from his pocket and said "No wait first I have to drop this off."

As Amber sat there in the daycare reading to herself Emma walked into the room and said "Amber, Silver came here to get you." Amber glanced at Emma and slowly closed the book as she said "O-okay." Amber walked out into the hallway and stared at him as she asked "Am I gonna be here often?" Silver nodded and said, "Unfortunately yeah, but don't worry I plan to make it up to you every time I do."

Amber ran towards him and stood in front of him as she asked "Where are we gonna go?" Silver stood there for a moment and said "I planned to go to a hotel and call it a day, but if you wanna go somewhere tomorrow I can probably clear up my schedule." Emma stared at him and said, "You don't have to make it sound like your busy, I already talked to Jax and he said that you won't have any assignments for the next two days."

Silver stared at her and said, "Is that so." Silver picked Amber up and said, "Well then we better get a move on." Amber held on tightly to his back as she asked "Can we go to the library tomorrow?" Silver glanced at her and said "The library?" Amber nodded without saying a word as they left the building. As they walked down the street Silver said "I guess we can do that, but I didn't know kids liked the library."

Amber nodded and said, "Reading was my only way to feel happy before I met you, but I didn't have very many books, but my favorite stories were ones where a prince would save the princess from danger." Silver nodded and said, "Yeah that does sound like something a girl would like." Amber tightened her grip and said, "It's sort of like how you helped me." Silver thought for a moment and said "That'd be impossible, I'm my line of work I'm normally considered that bad guy."

Amber stared at him and said, "Even if your a bad guy I'll still see you as my hero." As they entered a hotel room Silver set Amber down on a bed and said "I'll in the bed beside you so just call me if you need anything." As Silver laid down and turned off the lights he said "Goodnight" as Amber laid there silently.

After a while, Amber sat up and stared at Silver. After a few moments, she stood up from her bed and moved over to his. Silver glanced at her and asked, "What's wrong?" Amber laid there holding onto him without saying anything as Silver asked "Are you still afraid I'll leave you?" Silver put his hand on her head and said "If it'll make you feel better you can sleep beside me so you can keep a close eye on me, sound good?" Amber nodded as she said "Y-yeah."
