Chapter 12 Sleep Over

As Silver sat there on the floor watching Amber and Wendy go back and forth trying different pieces of clothing on he glanced at his phone and said "It looks like it's getting pretty late." Wendy glanced at him for a moment and said "The hotel you're staying at is pretty far from here isn't it?" Silver thought about it for a few seconds and said "If I carry Amber I should be able to run there pretty quickly." Wendy stared at him and asked, "Why don't you just stay here for tonight."

Silver stared at her for a few seconds before she said "I have an idea, why don't you two just sleepover." Silver glanced at Amber for a second before turning back to Wendy and saying "Alright we'll take you up on that offer." Wendy smiled and said, "I'll be just a minute, I have some spare pillows and blankets in my room." As she walked out with pink blankets and pillows Silver stared at them and said "I didn't even know they sold them in this color."

Wendy nodded and said, "I know they're great aren't they." As she handed them both pillows and blankets Silver took a closer look and said "They're something alright." Wendy began to move the table that was in front of the couch as she said "We can all sleep right here in the living room." Silver watched as she barely managed to move the table to another room and then he asked "Couldn't you just turn it sideways and push it against a wall."

Wendy began to lay a third blanket as she said "It's fine, it's better if we move the table to another room." Silver stared at her and said, "I guess that makes sense since we might need a bit of legroom." Wendy stared at him and said, "Come on don't tell me you never stayed the night at someone's house." Wendy stared at him for a second and said "Oh wait I didn't mean for it to sound rude." Silver nodded and said, "I have stayed at someone's house before."

Wendy stared at him and asked, "Who's?" Silver said, "I stayed at Jax's house one time, but I had to leave really early in the morning so his wife didn't find out since I am a hired killer and all." As Silver and Amber laid down the blankets Wendy glanced at her and asked "What about you?" Amber shook her head without saying a word as Silver smiled and said "Then I guess this is your first, right?" Amber nodded as she said "Y-ya."

Wendy stared at her and said, "Then let's start off with telling stories." Silver stared at her and asked, "Are we not going to sleep?" Wendy shook her head and said, "If we were just gonna sleep that would hardly be a sleepover." Wendy pointed at Silver and asked, "Would you like to go first." Silver sat there confused and asked, "What am I supposed to talk about?" Wendy pointed to Amber and said, "Explaining it to you would take too long so what about you, do you have an interesting story to tell?"

Amber sat there nervously for a few seconds and said "I have a story, but it was about when I was little." Silver stared at her and said, "Come to think of it I haven't heard much about what you were like back then." Amber stared at them and said, "When I was little I used to live with a man who would constantly hit me at every chance he got, he constantly drank and smoked, and whenever he would finish smoking he would burn me with the cigarette to put it out, and would often throw the bottles at me when he was done drinking."

Wendy stared at Amber and said, "That's no way to live as a kid." Silver stared at her and said, "Sounds pretty harsh." Amber nodded and said, "But this story has a happy ending." Silver stared at her and said, "It does?" Amber nodded and said, "Even though he would continuously hurt me, and abuse me I met you." Wendy stared at Silver and said, "Guess you do have a soft spot for kids after all." Silver glanced at her and smiled as he said "Maybe."

Amber glanced at Wendy and said, "C-can I ask you a question?" Wendy nodded and said, "Go on ask away." Amber stared at her and asked, "Can you tell me the story of how you met Silver?" Wendy nodded and said, "Alright, I don't mind." Wendy thought about it for a moment and said "When we first met I was walking down an alleyway, I was around eighteen or so years old around this time of year, it was snowing though and much colder." Wendy stared at Silver and said, "After a couple of guys jumped out from behind a dumpster and blocked me in the alley Silver began to walk down the alleyway and asked the men a question."

Silver nodded and said, "Yeah, I asked what they were doing." Wendy nodded and said, "But the people said to get lost or you'd end up like me, their next victim, after hearing this however you pulled out a gun and shot all of them before they had time to react." Silver nodded and said, "Yeah, and when I tried to leave you grabbed onto my arm and followed me around most of the day." Wendy smiled and said, "And it was worth it because in the end you gave in and gave me your number."

Amber stared at Silver and asked, "What about your childhood?" Silver flinched for a moment and said "I don't think it would be too interesting." Wendy stared at him and said, "Come on, you gotta tell us, you can't just say it won't be interesting." Silver let out a sigh and said "I didn't really have a normal childhood, but I wouldn't really call it a good childhood." Wendy stared at him and asked, "Were you like some kind of shut-in?" Silver sat there quietly for a few moments as Amber asked "Does the past hurt?"

Silver glanced at her and said, "No it's fine, it's probably the reason I'm like this today." Silver sat there and said, "When I was little both my parents died at a young age so I lived in an orphanage for a while, but not too long after a man came in and began to inspect the kids one by one, he ended up taking me since I apparently had this look in my eyes he could only describe as longing for death." Wendy stared at him and said, "I'm sorry for asking you to introduce me to your parents all of those times." Silver glanced at her and "Don't worry about it."

Silver thought about the story once again and said "Of course this was only the beginning because a while after that he put me through hellish training that could've killed me time and time again, but in the end, I survived it all, he made me sit outside in temperatures below zero for hours, or hang from a bridge hundreds of feet above the ground with nothing but my hands." Wendy stared at him and said, "I... was unaware of your childhood." Amber stared at him and said, "We're the same?"

Silver glanced at her and said, "Well in a way yeah, we are kinda the same." Amber smiled and said "Being the same as you kinda makes me happy." Silver smiled and said, "Yeah, and just like your story mine also has a happy ending." Wendy stared at them and said, "Hearing about you guys' childhood kinda makes me feel like the odd one out, I had a pretty normal childhood compared to yours." Wendy grabbed the remote and asked, "Why don't we all watch a movie before going to sleep."

Amber stared at her and said "N-nothing scary." Amber scooted closer to Silver as Wendy said "You never know what might get you in the dark" Silver thought for a moment and asked, "Are you talking about the boogie man?" Wendy nodded and said, "Of course, a creature who lurks in the dark and kills kids." Silver sat there for a moment and said "I'm pretty sure he was one of my targets on the black market, a human trafficker who sold kids he had kidnapped in the middle of the night."

Wendy stared at him and asked, "Are you serious?" Silver nodded and said, "Yeah, his actual name was Freddy but the underground knew him as the boogie man." Amber stared at Silver and said, "Y-you kill monsters?" Silver nodded and said, "All kinds, though all the monsters I've killed are human." Wendy set the remote down and said "Maybe we shouldn't watch tv." Wendy turned off the lights and said "Goodnight everyone."

As the lights went out Amber moved in closer to Silver. After waiting a few minutes Wendy sat up and stared at them and said "I wish I could swap places with her." Wendy pulled out her phone and said "Well I might as well get some pictures since I'm not right there." After taking a few pictures Wendy put her phone away and said "Two tragic pasts meeting each other, must be fate."
