NICKEL PENNY I

After making sure that Ray was dead asleep in his room, Frankie went back to Nickel Penny's bar and sat across from Dan.

"Dan, I'm sorry. I swear I didn't see Sophie leaving the party. I actually thought she was with you the whole time."

Dan kept his head low and tried to process what Frankie said. He supposed that it was the only thing he could do now after what happened.

With beer in hand, Frankie added, "What happened anyway? You were at the party together. All is good, right?"

Dan only shrugged. "I don't really know. We were talking about spending the night together one minute and then the next thing I knew she got mad at me. Ran off. I've never felt this clueless before." He sighed, "I feel like drinking tonight though. Is it too much to ask for a beer?"
