39 FRAM HILL DAY (Part 1)

Lily did not know what she got herself into now. When Jean invited her to go to the town fair for Fram Hill Day, Lily agreed, hesitantly. She was supposed to say no at first—she was not exactly in the mood to expend energy today, at all. What she wanted was to be lazy and lay in bed all day instead. But Jean had the convincing power of a veteran politician, Lily had no rebuttal or a better reason to argue.

"Pick me up. Okay?" Jean asked Lily over the phone. "Trust me. We'll have fun. When was the last time you went to the fair anyway?"

The last time? "Last year, remember? I went with you of all people," Lily lazily replied.
