Chapter 23

The squawking grew louder as Detective Garrett stood at the window to the secure room and tried to will Sasha to wake up. It didn't work.

Out of nowhere, "Sasha, Ehhh, you are my hero, Ehhh. Wake up, Ehhh. Please."

Detective Garrett looked around the room for Sherlock but it wasn't Sherlock at all. It was another parrot. Another talking parrot.

The parrot was secured to a perch with zip ties and was unable to reach Sasha. That didn't stop her from speaking, "Sasha! I command, Ehhh, you to wake up, Ehhh. Use the stone as, Ehhh, your power. You are stronger, Ehhh, than you know, Ehhh."

The stone began to vibrate in Sasha's pocket. The vibration along with the increased intensity of the glow unlocked the door so Detective Garrett could enter.

Upon entering the room it became very apparent that the rescue mission Sherlock sent the trio on was a mission to rescue another parrot.

His girlfriend. Sherlock the parrot's girlfriend.

Unbelievable.

Nevertheless, Detective Garrett freed Helena the parrot just as Sasha was waking and recharging her energy. The room was painted with waves of color from the stone. Sasha floated over to Detective Garrett and met Helena.

The mission wasn't over just yet.

Helena had a request now, "I need you to, Ehhh, help me with, Ehhh, something."

She pointed her wing at a solid steel room. It had a port hole in it, the kind you opened with a circle handle and crawled through.

Sasha undid the hatch and crawled in. There was a person in there. A child. She was overwhelmed with a strong feeling. She had never felt it before with a stranger.

Removing his hood and undoing his shackles, Sasha attempted to carry the boy out through the hatch. That wasn't going to work so she decided it was time to up the ante.

Focusing again, more than ever, she woke the boy and before he could say anything she was levitating him out of the room, through the hatch and into Detective Garrett's arms.

Once Sasha climbed from the room, it became abundantly clear who this was. She had played games with him years ago and slept in the room right next to his since they were babies. Pictures of him covered the shelves and walls of the house and they had a strong connection growing up.

It was her long lost brother Michael. He was in all the family portraits but was rarely talked about around Aaron or Sasha. He had disappeared two years ago. The police handled the case and came up with nothing. The boy had simply vanished.

How does an eight year old boy vanish out of thin air?

Another person entered the room, "Well, well, well, isn't this cute." It was Agent Jones. He was wearing some sort of anti-magnetic suit. It blocked all of the stones powers and gave Agent Jones some increased strength.

This was a problem, even if it was three humans and a talking parrot versus one man.
