A Dream

STORM

It was the same dream again. Storm was running from something she couldn't see. But the fear that assailed her body was as if the enemy in question, something far worse than death, was chasing her.

The clouds were pursuing her too, or rather the darkness had overtaken the clouds and had caused them to chase after her. But how could she outrun them?

Just when the dark heavy clouds were about to engulf her, she screamed and woke up.

She was perspiring all over, breathing deeply in and out. At least she hadn't seen the ugly monster or the shape-shifting woman always donned in snakes and scorpions who kept chanting stuff about revenge and retribution and cursing her mother.

She sniffed, feeling the wetness of her bed sheet. The dream must have been going on for quite a long time.

She took in slowly, a deep breath to calm her frantic self down. She took another again, allowing her eyes to adjust to the darkness in the room.

It was just a mere dream. She kept muttering to herself, her heart beat plummeting for the second time that night when she sensed something moving toward her.

No no. Had the darkness followed her to her room? She wondered, her eyes never leaving the spot where she believed whatever that was there, was, while her hands searched feverishly for the switch button of her bedside lamp.

Feeling the button, she sighed out in relief, a feeling short lived when she sensed something like the wind, or rather an oppressive force was trying to engulf her, just like in her dreams; and it had come like the speed of the wind from the same spot toward her.

Immediately, she screamed out loud, turning on the lamp. There was nothing to see, and weirdly, nothing to feel. But she knew something had been here. The feeling had been too real, and she was sure that she wasn't hallucinating. Doctor Jack had mentioned just before she had retired to sleep that night that she was hale and hearty.

A sharp creek by the window had her jerking suddenly from the bed, her heart beating terrifyingly fast.

Great! Now, she was being being jumpy.

She thought worriedly, her worry and fear giving way to anger when she saw Kaden scale through her window ledge and jump into her room.

"What are you doing here?" She asked, even though she already knew the answer. He must have heard her screams. Yet, that still didn't give him the audacity to come into her room like some messiah. She didn't need his fake concern and care. She believed that she would do alright without his interference.

"I heard you screaming again after waking up, and I thought that perhaps someone was attacking you. Are you okay? Why did you scream after waking up?" Kaden inquired, sitting down on the window ledge.

Storm wanted to ask him how he had known that she had woken up, but she was sure that he had been looking out for her again. But why would he stress himself about her when he had a girlfriend over? Wouldn't she be concerned that her boyfriend was seeing another woman this late at night?

"Storm.."

She heard him call out, and sighed.

"I am fine, and stop climbing through my window again. I don't need your help. Does your girlfriend know that you are here? That you had slipped away from the bed to come see your neighbour who you feel pity for because she is plagued by nightmares and her father is dead? Does that boost your ego or make you feel good?" She asked, her fears forgotten, her anger growing as the image of him kissing the woman with so much passion blurred her mind vision.

"Storm, the feeling I have toward you is anything but pity. About this morning, I can explain…" He was still saying, but Storm wasn't interested in hearing any more lies.

"Just go, Kaden. I need to sleep, so I don't have time for your lies now." She started. "Turn around and jump out. I don't want to see you here again."

Her voice broke in the end.

She still liked him of course, but she wasn't going to let her heart get broken by some chimp that thinks because he was so damn handsome and hot even at night with his bed hair, that he could do anything he wanted.

"Didn't you hear me, Kaden? I say you should leave or do you want me to shout and wake up your girlfriend. I am sure that she is not aware of your tiny addiction; sneaking into people's rooms while they aren't watching, perhaps to take a sneak peek at their…"

She was rambling after noticing that he hadn't moved despite her rebuke, when suddenly, he left the ledge and strolled, or most fitting, glided toward her at such a fast pace that before she could ask him what he was doing, his lips were already on hers.

Storm opened her mouth to cuss at him when he pinched her cheek the next second, but that gave him the opportunity to slip his tongue inside her mouth.

Storm moaned as the kiss got intense, forgetting her resolve, especially when his hand slipped inside her night wear.

While trying to wrap her arms around his neck, so lost in the moment, her hand hit the cup of water which Lucy had left for her on the drawer.

There was a loud thump on the floor and a splash, and this made Storm regain her senses again.

What am I doing?

Storm gritted her teeth, willfully stopping a moan from escaping her lips when Kaden's fingers moved in a circular motion toward her right breast.

Without stopping to think, she bit him hard on the lips, causing him to wince in pain and stop kissing her.

"Get.Out." She said in a steel voice, feeling tears rush out of her eyes.

What the hell?!

She screamed mentally, cursing her heart and emotions. It seemed that she was already late. She has fallen in love with Kaden.

However, he doesn't need to know that. She thought, pushing him off her. A week will be enough to get over him.

"Do I need to repeat myself?" She asked, gazing coldly at him when he refused to move.

Kaden wanted to say something but shut his mouth, perhaps thinking that it was better he shut his mouth.

Storm watched him, the resolve never leaving her eyes as he got out of her bed, walked to the window, and scaled through, never looking back for once.

The prick! She cussed, lying down on the bed, knowing that sleep was going to be a hard commodity to find now, with her vain thoughts all over the place.
