The Rebirth System!

In the city of Primos, power is everything. In a world of humans with magical ‘abilities’, the strong survive and thrive, while the frail are left to suffer. Either you are born with a strong ability and you’re given the world. Or you are born a regular human, and you are given nothing. You have nothing. You are nothing. Brandyn Santiago, a regular-born citizen of Primos, is forced to endure the demoralising life in Primos and unsurprisingly, he isn’t able to keep his life through the brutal torture from the demonic beasts of the higher social classes. However, he is given another chance. He is reborn with an ability and, now, he has the chance to finally enact his revenge on those who caused him so much torment and anguish!

Mission Accomplished

"I need to wear him down, I think this skill will do just fine!" Brandyn said to himself, showing off his devilish claws.

His opponent was already occupied with his accomplice, who seemed to be quite a nuisance to him. It was not hard for him to put Flavian out of action with a few attacks.

Flavian, after getting hit in the head, felt quite lightheaded and his steadiness almost completely vanished. His legs wobbled like towers of jelly and as the man approached him, he simply tumbled back onto a palm.

From the side, Brandyn slashed down his claws and sliced across his oblique area, which opened the area and released streams of warm blood onto Brandyn's fingers.

Out of irritation, the man swerved around to face Brandyn, who had just given him such an agonising wound. The man dropped into a crouch, placing most of his weight on his left foot then snarled as he exploded his body up to swing his clawed fist up at Brandyn's head. However, he was too far, and his uppercut swung past Brandyn's face without even making contact.

Now that he had shifted his attention to another annoyance, Flavian used the maximum strength that his exoskeleton could provide him and snapped his arm forward without a care for the injuries that he could receive from such an impetuous move.

*BAM*

Luckily, the exoskeleton absorbed most of the force, while also unleashing this force onto their target's back. There was an audible cracking noise from the area of impact and even Flavian himself felt the bone that he touched crack in two.

The man stumbled forward in a sluggish way and with this opening, Brandyn took out his dagger. He didn't raise his arms in reaction and his eyes also looked dead and still. With this opportunity, Brandyn promptly capitalised on it and thrusted the dagger right into his chest. He managed to place the entire blade of the dagger inside of his chest but he wasn't able to pierce his heart.

The man lifted himself but he did not look in it at all. His legs were slow and weak, which was something that even Flavian could see. They had won.

"Is this over? Can we just leave?" Brandyn wondered, as his mind raced with several options that the duo could take.

"You pests.." He said lowly, before falling on his side.

Seeing that the mission was complete, Brandyn retrieved his dagger and as he lifted his eyes, he was met with the beautiful panel of his complete mission.

[Quest Complete!]

[+250XP]

[+1 Stat Point]

"I'm only 30XP away from the next level! Another stat point, too?! This is insane!" Brandyn realised.

Spicing things up, Brandyn placed his stat point into speed to match it to his durability.

[User: Brandyn Santiago]

[Level: 5]

[Strength: 6]

[Speed: 6]

[Durability: 7]

[HP:34/50]

[MP: 2/10]

[XP: 470/500]

"Umm, what are you looking at?" Flavian said, confused.

"Oh, um, I thought I saw something, it's weird with my new eyesight you know, heh." Brandyn quickly replied, with reddening skin.

"Woah. I need to be more covert with this stuff. I don't know if this is good or bad for me but having anyone know about this doesn't seem like a good idea at all." Brandyn surmised, taking his dagger from the unconscious man.

"He's not dead, but we should leave now. When he wakes up, he won't be happy at all." Brandyn said.

As he said this, he slotted his dagger into his pocket but, by using his special inventory ability, the dagger vanished into thin air.

At that moment, the 2 fighters returned to the outpost that Carbine was at but took much longer to get there. After the battle, neither of them seemed too fond of exerting themselves by racing back to the outpost.

Upon their arrival, Carbine almost couldn't believe it.

"How did you two defeat the man so quickly?!" Carbine wondered, lifting from his seat as he heard their presence.

"That guy was muscly but his muscles were all for show. He really wasn't that strong." Brandyn said, while Flavian closed the outpost door behind them.

"This is amazing! I can't believe you two worked so well together on only your second mission together. Many big things are coming for you two when it comes to new missions and rewards." Carbine replied, turning to enter the room that he was just in.

Carbine swiftly forms their monetary rewards and hands them both to Flavian and Brandyn.

"Here is 2,000 marks each. I said 1,000 to 1,500 marks but since you two worked so well in this mission, I can't help but give you more." Carbine said, clearly happy from his smile and facial expression.

"I wonder what's making him so happy about this. Surely, our missions don't really affect him so why would he care?" Brandyn wondered, taking his own reward.

Brandyn then decided to head home as it was in the dead of the night and this neighbourhood of Salham was certainly not a place that someone would want to be out in at night.

Since he had exerted himself so much also, he got out of his bloody clothes, threw them in his washing machine then fell in his cosy bed. His eyelids felt like they were being glued down as he could barely lift them an in no time, he was fast asleep.
