The Rebirth System!

In the city of Primos, power is everything. In a world of humans with magical ‘abilities’, the strong survive and thrive, while the frail are left to suffer. Either you are born with a strong ability and you’re given the world. Or you are born a regular human, and you are given nothing. You have nothing. You are nothing. Brandyn Santiago, a regular-born citizen of Primos, is forced to endure the demoralising life in Primos and unsurprisingly, he isn’t able to keep his life through the brutal torture from the demonic beasts of the higher social classes. However, he is given another chance. He is reborn with an ability and, now, he has the chance to finally enact his revenge on those who caused him so much torment and anguish!

A Job

His flat was made of broken down bricks, with graffiti littered across the side of it. Once he entered the flat with a special silver card, he mindlessly went up the steps to around the eighth floor, where his apartment was.

Opening the door, there was quite literally no furniture on the open living room floor, and the light above such room seemed to be dangling off the roof in an odd manner. His apartment was surprisingly clean aside from the lack of stuff in it. After he'd get beat up by the higher-ups in his school, the main thing he would do would be to consume his time in cleaning his rooms. It took time and actually took his mind off the pain and the humiliating event that would've just happened prior. Also, it gave him a minor sense of accomplishment once he was finished.

"What if this system thing is just a hallucination of my mind? I'm sure someone has an ability like that?" He wondered, starting to doubt the prize that he had been given.

For someone so powerless like him, his dream was to gain some sort of power like this. It would be the perfect way to completely destroy him mentally and from what he had experienced in the past, it certainly wasn't an option off the table.

"Maybe I wasn't even fighting anyone? Well, if I wasn't that was a darn good illusion. I'm not sure if anyone in my school would be capable of such an advanced illusion at this age. Urgh, what am I saying! It probably is real, there's no way someone would just hallucinate this and put so much time and effort into me." He realised, returning his confidence back to him as he entered his kitchen.

Rummaging through his fridge, he found exactly what he needed. Chicken slices and canned chicken.

Warming them up with a microwave, he was ready to eat in just a minute. These microwaves didn't exactly use higher energy waves but used a special technique while releasing microwaves to maximise the heat transfer to the food inside. The spinning of the plate was also quite fast, sometimes spilling food off a plate if a cover wasn't provided.

He simply sat on his shining, wooden dining table, that even managed to loosely reflect his own face, and ate the meat that he managed to cough up from thoroughly searching his refrigerator.

Seeing this progress, it actually made him truly driven for the first time in his life. After constantly being convinced that there was no progress to be made with him, all determination was quite literally seeped out from him.

Now, seeing that progress could now be made, it exhilarated him. It finally provided him with a motive for his existence. To grow in strength and to finally get revenge on the malevolent, power-hungry people that had suppressed him for so long.

To anyone from the outside, his thought process would've looked like rage and revenge. However, he merely saw it as an action to bring back balance.

An act of retribution.

The following day, Brandyn sat through the uncomfortably long lectures, mindlessly writing notes about the lectures.

During his lunchtime break, he walked across a hall inside his school. The noise inside was filled with the chattering of the students and the various steps being taken across the hall. In this crowd of young students, one of them reached out to grab Brandyn who was walking along this group of individuals in the opposite direction.

"Where do you think you're going, trash! I told you already, I need 10 marks for lunch, so pay up!" The student exclaimed, with glowing orange eyes.

His pupils became slit and he was rocking wavy, silver hair that was styled in curtains. His skin was somewhat oily and tanned with no imperfections. No blemishes, no spots but a clear layer of shining skin.

He stood at around 6'0 and had quite a lot of musculature for a child his age, being 16 years old. He held his phone out, which had a floating projection. Brandyn held his phone out too then something weird occurred.

ding!

Both phones made an odd ringing noise, signifying that ten marks were handed over to him.

"Thanks, peasant!" The man replied mockingly, shoving his head into the metal lockers behind him.

Slam!

Just this light shove actually sent Brandyn into a daze. He fell to a knee and just like usual, was filled with anger. Just as much as he wanted to retaliate, he couldn't.

He had a magical system now, but there was no real indication of him having any supernatural abilities. Therefore, it was quite plausible to deduce that if he was to try and fight now, the fight would end the same as it always did. him, knocked out, laying on someone's locker.

"Y-you are welcome, great sir Elias." Brandyn replied, gritting his teeth in fury after the words left his mouth.

Elias looked down at him with contempt and also a condescending smile as his eyes returned to their usual, human blue colour.

Once the liberating final bell came, Brandyn was more than happy to exit the hellhole that was his school. It gave him a minor sense of peace and quiet, and it allowed him to just listen to the usual music that he would listen to.

After the rise of pop, a few decades before Brandyn was born, new genres surfaced alongside the shift from modernity to futurism. Hyperpop and electronic pop. These sounds sounded almost extra-terrestrial and unlike the songs of the past. They utilised digital sounds instead of the traditional musical instruments of the formerly popular orchestra.

"Where can I find a job? I'll need to just go to some convenience store. Hopefully, they can get me on a non-contract." He thought to himself, looking around at the various shops that were littered across the streets and avenues.

In Primos, there was a special type of occupant, called a 'non-contract' worker. Due to Primos' size and large industry, even more people worked in the city from outside the city. In the Federation of Helion, the country which Primos was located in, many more people strived to find occupations in the land of true opportunity. Therefore, to further aid the industry, Primos allowed workers to receive wages and tasks without the need for extensive paperwork. This decision opened up the workforce to children as young as 13, and it further boosted the demand of labour in the prosperous megacity.

Brandyn was looking for a small shop, preferably a smaller firm with a single shop, selling some form of food and basic utilities. After about 10 minutes of searching, he managed to find a convenience store named 'Brandy's Corner'.
