1 My Potential is Below Average(1)

[Welcome to the Tutorial]

"Shit..."

I spat out a curse while looking at the dark interior of the surroundings.

In the dim light, I could see some glowing inscriptions on the floor.

The structure he was in was a completely different building than any he had seen on Earth. It was the first time seeing something like this so I was naturally unsettled.

In this absurd situation, I could not help but recall the last thing I remembered.

I was just having a nice meal with my family, then all of a sudden, I received a message on my phone.

<Do you wish to join the game?>

I thought it was a game invitation from a friend, and clicked 'yes' without thinking too much about it.

That was it.

That was the only thing I could remember.

I had no idea what would happen to me now, but I had a bad feeling.

The surrounding was so gloomy that I felt stifled by just staying here.

Before I could think of anything else, I heard voices coming from my surroundings.

"Hey, where are we?"

"I don't know..."

"Anyways what the hell is this place... and why are there weapons here?"

"How would I know? I think we are all in the same situation, I think we should try to get out of here."

People started talking.

Someone was pinching his cheek, probably checking if it was all a dream.

The others were also nervous, and the atmosphere was a bit depressing.

'It's definitely not a dream.'

It was too real, and everyone could not have the same dream, right?

Just as I was thinking about how to handle this situation, a voice rang in the small room.

[Welcome, Players.]

[Congratulations, you have been chosen as heroes to save the dying world.]

"Heroes!?"

"What bullshit! Do you think this is funny!?"

"Stop messing with us and let us go or else I am going to call the police."

[But not everyone can head to the world, The only people eligible are those who pass the tutorial.]

"Hey, don't you dare ignore me!"

[Please listen carefully, as it is directly related to your survival]

The word 'survival' made me tense, I sobered up and listened attentively.

"What does that mean, are you trying to kill us!?"

[First of all, this is not a dream. Everything is very much real. As your guide for the tutorial I recommend you accept this fact as soon as possible.]

"I beg you, just let me go..."

I heard a number of voices, but the damn voice continued without a change in its tone.

[Where you are now is the starting point, you can think of it as a waiting room before the tutorial begins. The starting point contains essential items like food, water, and weapons you will be using later.]

I looked at the corner as soon as the voice finished and noticed that rather than plastic boxes and bottles the food and water were held in leather pouches.

That wasn't all, there were all types of weapons lying on the floor, Swords, Spears, Bows and arrows, shields, and maces.

I was a bit surprised by the presence of the weapons that would normally be seen only seen in the middle ages.

'They are real.'

But, they were definitely not fake, he could see that the swords were dull and the weapons were somewhat old, but they were definitely deadly weapons.

The voice sounded again, causing me to snap out of my train of thought.

[The goal of this tutorial is to survive and attack. Besides you, there will also be the forces of chaos or monsters. They will be targeting you, and you'll have to fight them.]

It was just like a fantasy novel.

The voices in the surroundings had quieted down, and everyone seemed to be listening.

[Of course, it might be difficult to face them with your own power. But there is nothing to worry. We have prepared a small gift for you.]

[Everyone here who has accepted the invitation, have different talents, and came from different places. This place will make your talents stronger and help you grow.]

[You will understand everything if you say status window.]

I was tempted to try out what the voice said, but did not act on it. I felt like I had to be careful with situations where I don't know what will happen.

As expected, someone was muttering it in a timely manner.

"Status window."

"Huh? What's this?"

[The status window shows your current condition. Depending on how much effort you put, your stats will increase. Next is your class. You can be a Warrior, Mage, Priest, or Archer, and based on your later achievements there are several branches. There are countless paths, and it's up to you which one to take.]

The more I listen, the more I felt the system was pretty much similar to video games.

That means, choosing a class was a pretty important issue.

I took a deep breath and finally decided to check my own status window.

"Status window"

[Name: Erik]

[Title: None] (Well, you should try a bit harder)

[Age: 21]

[Character: Scheming]

[Class: None]

[Stats]

[Strength: 03]

[Agility: 04]

[Endurance: 03]

[Intelligence: 06]

[Luck: 10]

[Perception: 03]

[Magic: 00]

[Equipment: None]

As expected, the status window looked just like a video game interface.

But, seeing his stats he started feeling anxious, just as he was about to analyze more, the voice sounded again.

[The last thing to note is your Trait. Traits vary from player to player. They mostly depend on one's personality are very important to one's growth.]

As soon as the voice finished speaking, his status window was replaced by a message.

[Trait: Eyes of Truth (Legendary) has been acquired.]

I stared at the window in front of me in a daze for some time but quickly came to a conclusion. It was a Legendary Trait it should be quite powerful, right?

'Nice!'

[Trait]

[Eyes of Truth: Legendary]

[You can see the status window of other players, asses hidden potential, and see the truth of the world.]

I did not know how useful it was but having something was better than nothing.

The voice clearly said that the goal was to 'survive'.

Although he lost most of his memories, he knew that he had a family, so he would do his best to survive.

Everyone around me had different reactions.

Some people discussed their Traits, while others were checking out the weapons.

We were bound to face the so-called forces of chaos or monsters after all.

There was a woman who looked like she would break down at any moment.

A middle-aged man who kept screaming.

A kid who seemed like a student.

The atmosphere was depressing and it was starting to affect me.

But, I had more important things to do.

'Potential, is it?'

I had a vague idea of what it meant, but I needed to confirm it.

Although I was nervous about what my potential would be, I could not help but hope that I would have a shockingly high potential like those protagonists in web novels.

But I quickly shook my head,

'As if...'

[Checking the Potentials of Player Erik]

[Name: Erik]

[Strength: 03] (Potential: Common)

[Agility: 04] (Potential: Rare )

Endurance: 03] (Potential: Common)

[Intelligence: 06] (Potential: Rare)

[Luck: 10] (Potential: Legendary)

[Perception: 03] (Potential: Common)

[Magic: 00] (Potential: Trash)

[Overview: Below Average Potential. The Player has little scope in becoming successful, irrespective of the path chosen. The potential for Strength, Endurance, and Perception are common, not to mention Magic potential which is trash. Agility and Intelligence are Rare but it's nothing impressive. The only saving grace is a heaven-sent Legendary potential for Luck. But, the Player's future is still worrying, without any combat potential the best you can do is delay the inevitable.]

Honestly, I hadn't expected something like this.

I rubbed my eyes but the results did not change.

"Shit..."

The goal of the Tutorial was to survive.

Although I did not think of myself as some kind of protagonist, it was still disappointing seeing my terrible potential.

"Damn it..."

My Potential is below average.
