G-79

Clack.

Clack.

Clack.

'Ah, damn it.'

The sound of the stiletto echoed in the empty hallways of G79, a well-renowned bar. It was one of the most prestigious places one could bring a visitor coming from neighboring cities.

G79 was the ideal hang-out bar alive at night, available only at Star, the name of the city.

The bar occupied two floors of the building. The first floor was for socializing, while the second one contained several private rooms.

One could only imagine what was happening beyond the closed doors. If the walls weren't thick enough, that would have been more obvious what the second floor was for.

"How are you doing?"

A voice from the small earpiece inside my ear disrupted my thoughts.

I was about to dive into some forbidden imagery that my mentor would have disapproved of if he had ever learned about it.

"Bored," I replied, flipping my hair after noticing the number outside the door, two doors to my right.

Exquisite paintings of pink flowers adorned the walls of the white-painted hallway.

There was a slight chuckle before the other person in the line coughed and cleared his throat. Momentarily, he must have forgotten that we're on duty.

"Give it to you to find stepping inside a certain death trap boring."

I pursed my lips and tried not to give in to answering him with sarcasm.

"Why don't you join me sometime? Maybe that would be less boring."

Another chuckle.

"Tempting, but I'll pass."

There was silence.

I expected that much from him. He had never once shown his face.

In every assignment, he had always been the voice that would guide me for exit routes or emergencies.

Let's say that he was the brains for my success or failure. But I had never once failed.

"Let me guess; it's not yet time."

"One day, I'd finally meet you, little lady. For now, let's stick to me being the head and you being the body."

I snorted, stopping in front of one room on the second floor of G79. The room number was in a golden template. It shone against the dim lighting of the hallways.

Compared to the noise and the smell of alcohol downstairs, this part seemed peaceful. It was too quiet.

One could say it was even eerie.

I scoffed.

"One day," I repeated, a crease formed on my forehead. "That day will never come, would it?"

I wasn't really waiting for his reply. In fact, I didn't expect any response at all. And he didn't have the chance, even if he would have.

The door of the room I was standing in front of had swung open. A middle-aged man poked his head. His eyes swiftly roamed my body, assessing every curve visible from my black overalls.

My knee-length boots were too sexy for my liking, and the leather skirt only covered one-fourth of my thighs.

The training and regular exercise were the kind of torture I had to endure to have this perfectly toned figure.

I didn't miss the low whistle that escaped the man's lips. His shaggy blonde hair was tousled, a clear indication that he already had his fun.

There was a soft giggle sounding inside, which I could have easily missed if I didn't have the upgrade for the keen sense of hearing.

Greyish eyes, an empty slot on his ring finger and an unmistakable mark of a ring around it were enough to figure out I had the right target.

Using his unwanted attraction to me, I smiled sweetly and pretended I had the right to be there, too.

"Room service?"

The man eyed me up and down. From the way he had licked his lips up to how he ran his fingers through his hair, it was evident that he had meant to step out for some other reason.

I had yet to knock. Which meant he had business to attend to.

Phone in hand, the half-naked man smiled my way.

"I didn't call for one, darling. Thank you. You may leave."

I mentally sighed. I was hoping to avoid breaking my disguise so early, but he left me with no choice.

"Too bad," I murmured, smirking his way. It must have confused the hell out of him. "I would have saved you for last."

With one last innocent smile, I looked at the man. He was guilty of being the drug supplier to the young ones. Because of his connection with some government official, he was never caught.

Hiding behind the identity of Mister Black, the man before me had evaded the honest detectives working in every city.

One of his hobbies was frequenting bars like G79---those that could support his other addiction.

I lost the last thread of wanting to pity him and show a little mercy.

Snapping my fingers, the lights went out in the entire building.

"Initializing night vision in 3…."

"2…"

"1.…"

"Night vision on."

I was plunged into darkness, and everything was bathed in green.

"It's game time," the voice in my earpiece signaled.

I smirked, reserving my reply for later.

Stealthily blending with the shadows, I made my move.

A grunt was heard before I had to drag the man back inside his room. Next, a scream was instantly choked back by his lady friend waiting for him on the bed.

"Aw," I cooed, pretending to be sad at the idea of them being found dead together come morning.

"Five minutes," the voice came on again, reminding me how fast I took the man and his 'playmate' down.

"Next time, it might be lower than five," I replied, dumping the man beside the bed.

While the power was still out, I scanned the room briefly. It was a cozy place to be.

They had the perfect view of the city outside the crystal window, directly from one side of the bed.

Lights from various buildings and the streets, drones, and cars made the entire city look alive.

A flash of memory came to mind, distracting me for a minute.

"One minute."

I blinked, suddenly confused.

"One minute?"

"If you could finish a mission in under one minute, I would find the time to meet with you."

"Can I trust you?"

He let out a third chuckle for tonight.

"I swear on Seven's name; I will keep that promise."
