Chapter Ten

When we got back to the hotel, I decided to go check on Derrick and know how his whole outing or should I say shopping experience with Susan went.

"So why don't you guys show Amun your room cause he's gonna be staying with you guys until we get back to New York" I said

"Good luck Amun, hope you can survive with Gab and Eddie, cause all they talk about are going to watch horror movies or girls...yuck!" Flow said

Eddie and Gab frowned.

"Hey!" They growled.

"Cut it out guys. You guys go ahead, I'll meet up with you, I just need to check on something" I said, making up a lie.

"Or someone" Anne teased, smirking.

"Hey! Don't you have someone to check on too?! Like Gab's brother that you always stalk on social media?" I yelled.

"What?!" Flow, Eddie and Gab said and gasped.

"Shit!" I muttered.

"Okay, maybe I deserved that" Anne said, and walked into the hotel.

Silently angry that I blew her secret.

Did I mention that Anne has a huge crush on Gab's older brother, Jefferson Stone? Well it's about time you meet him: he's the leader of the swimming team in our school and has won a golden medal and cup three times in a row_okay maybe several times since he joined our school and he's entering the championship and after next year_well he's also going to be this year's prom king; he always is and his girlfriend Miranda Baxter, who Anne and Susan dislikes a lot, is the prom queen every year and after they both graduate this year he's gonna sign up with the best sports organization in New York that sponsors young athletics like him.

So back to me.

I sighed as I walked round the hotel and then I saw Derrick at the pool eating a cheese looking pizza, or what it used to be.

I smiled and walked up to him.

"Hey" I said.

He looked up and smiled, then he cleaned his mouth.

"Hey, come sit beside me" He offered, patting the spot beside him.

I smiled and took off my shoes, as I dipped my legs into the swimmimg pool water.

"Soooo, how was your day? Find anything interesting?" I asked.

"Nah just clothes and jewelries, and oh, here, this is for you" He said, bringing out a bracelet from his pocket and then he handed me a bracelet that was amazingly beautiful.

I smiled at him as I took it, he smiled back.

"I saw it and thought I'd give it you as a thank you gift" He said.

"Thanks" I said, putting it on, "it's beautiful"

"You like?" He asked.

"Yeah" I said, smiling at him.

"So you find anything interesting?" He asked.

"Yeah and oh, I saw that pharaoh's statue, here, check it" I said, showing him the pictures I took in front of the statue.

"Wow, it's amazing, too bad that I couldn't go with you" He said.

My heart fluttered at his words.

"Yea too bad, but you enjoyed your time with Susan, right?" I asked to ease the tension I felt in my chest.

He blinked and fell silent then he spoke.

"Yeah... I did" He said.

But I wasn't sure if he really meant it or not.

I smiled and stood up, I looked down at him.

"Well see you tomorrow Derrick" I said.

"See you tomorrow McCall" He said, looking up at me.

I smiled, I would've left quietly_God, I wish I had left earlier cause then Susan was coming with drinks in her hands.

"Derrick, I bought us some smoo_"

She looked up and stopped dead in her tracks as she saw me.

"You" She growled.

"Hi Susan, how've you been?" I asked, smiling innocently at her.

"What are you doing here?" She asked angrily.

"Uh...this is a pool? And I came to swim?" I said in my most polite manner.

She should thank her lucky stars that Derrick was here, if not I would've talked to her like the mean bitch that she is.

"Susan, Ella just came to say Hi, right Ella?" Derrick intervened.

"Right." I said, smiling at him.

"See Susan, nothing's going on" Derrick said.

Susan frowned.

"I should get going" I said and began to leave but Susan grabbed my hand and held me back.

She glared at me and whispered.

"You know McCall, I always knew you were weird but today...something's just off about you"

I peeled my hand out of her grip and whispered back.

"Nothing's off about me today Coy, maybe it's just the fact that you're always paranoid of every girl that talks to Derrick" daring her to behave like a bitch here, now, right here in front of Derrick but she didn't.

I smiled and faced Derrick.

"I gotta go, see ya around Derrick"

"See ya Ella_thanks again" He said.

As I left and got to the dark side of the pool area, I hid behind a wall and pulled out my phone to video Susan being angry; cause I don't know, I like seeing her angry, it makes me happy seeing her angry and it makes me feel like I have the upper hand over her.

"What was she doing her?" I heard Susan ask Derrick.

"Nothing, but it seemed that she came here for a swim but didn't once she saw me. It's weird, it's like... She's scared of being seen with me" I heard Derrick say.

"That's not it Derrick, I 'was' looking for you" I muttered sadly.

Why doesn't he get that I like him? Why can't he see that? Is he that dumb or what?

Susan smiled and dipped her legs into the pool and sat beside him, then she kissed his cheek.

"That's because honey, she knows you're mine and that I won't like her hovering around you" I heard Susan say.

That bitch!

"You know Susan, you don't hear me complain when you flirt and talk to some cute guys too_like take today for instance. Do you hear me complain?" Derrick asked.

"Well no, but that's because you trust me Derrick" Susan said.

"Then why can't you trust me?" Derrick asked.

"It's those bitches I don't trust, not you" Susan said.

Ugh! Seriously? Like that makes sense at all. Jeez!

"You know Susan, I've been doing some thinking and I think you might've misunderstood our relationship along the line; I. Am. Not. Your. Property. Okay?

"Okay but_"

"No buts. Please learn to trust me or I might have to rethink our relationship" Derrick said, and with that he came out of the pool and left.

Then I saw Susan stamping her feet angrily on the floor like a little kid who didn't get cookies from the cookie jar.

I smiled and went to my room to tell Anne the gossip but then I remembered I made her angry and that I needed to apologize. I crept to her bed and called her name softly.

"Anne? Anne? I'm...sorry, you know earlier when I blew your secret, I felt like I broke your trust. So I'm so sorry if i made you feel bad" I said and went to lie on my bed and as I almost fell asleep; Anne didn't turn to face me but I heard her say.

"I forgive you"

I smiled.

If I thought my fifteenth birthday present from mom and dad made me feel like the luckiest girl in the world, Anne's forgiveness was so much better and with that I fell asleep smiling.
