1 A new home

"Mommy why are you packing everything?", Yun Xi asked her mother after returning from school.

"Little Xi your dad has been transferred to the country side to work there for a while", Mother Yun rubbed the kids hair.

"But I don't want to leave! I love my school and this place, I'm going to miss my friends!", Yun Xi's eyes turned red immediately tears flowing.

Mother Yun lowered herself and wiped the tears of her daughter, " Don't cry baby! I'm sure you're going to love that place, there are many trees there too! You can make new friends too", Mother Yun smiled sweetly at her daughter.

"Where's daddy?", Yun Xi wiped her tears and calmed down.

"He's going to pack up his files and documents! we'll be leaving early tomorrow morning", Mother Yun stood up and walked to the kitchen.

"Then how will I bade farewell to my friends?", Yun Xi frowned and entered her room throwing her bag on the floor.

Mother Yun smiled hearing what her daughter had said. This was all for the best, her husband was an investigator and was being transferred to a small city because of some wrong doings over there. Therefore the whole family had to move.

...

Rao Rang checked through the stuffs on the refuse site, he saw a few pieces of old clothes and some shoes. There was no food there. He picked up the clothes and packed them into a black bag, the moment he turned to leave he saw some kids standing a few metres from him, he immediately frowned.

" What? You're not happy to see us? Did you think we would disappear? Haha!", one fat short boy laughed holding a stick in his hands. He was the leader of the gang.

"It's a pity brother Wong, this doll face boy decided not to join us but it really is fun to bully him, ha-ha-ha...!"

Wong Shi was a well known bully of the town, he was the son of the Mayor of the son so no one could go against him.

"Little Doll face, why are you picking clothes from the rubbish dump? Does your prostitute mother lack money to buy you clothes?", Wong Shi held his little pot belly as he laughed. He hated the fact that this boy was the most handsome boy in their town, just his face annoyed him.

Rao Rang wanted to beat the fat boy so badly for calling his mother such names but he remembered the promise he made to his mother, not to fight back no matter what.

When Wong Shi realized Rao Rang was still ignoring him, he got angrier. Who did this dirty rascal think he was? He stepped forward and pushed Rao Rong to the ground.

"Boys let's have a little fun with this guy!", Wong Shi called out to his friends.

The group of six ganged together and beat Rao Rang up until he couldn't even feel his body.

"Next time you obey me when I speak to you!", Wong Shi laughed then spit on Rao Rang before leaving with his friends.

Unknown to the boys Rao Rang had managed to steal some food from them. Gathering the little strength left in him, he leaped home grateful he had managed to get some food for his mother.

Soon he reached home, their house was a weak abandoned wooden building, whenever it rained it would be flooded.

"Mom I got some food for you!", Rao Rang placed his black bag down and removed a pack of rice from it.

"Cough...cough w-why are...cough... you bleeding so badly?", Mother Mu asked trying to sit up.

Her eyes turned teary guessing what her son might have gone through, " Did...th-those boys bully you again?", Mother Mu asked pulling him closer into an embrace.

"It's okay Mom, look I managed to steal a whole pack of rice in return", Rao Rang pulled on a smile so his mother wouldn't get worried.

Mother Mu knew her son well, he was just saying so to avoid her getting worried.

"Mom here, eat it", Rao Rang took a plate and washed it, then poured the food in for his mother to eat taking up the spoon to feed her.

Mother Mu smiled as her son fed her.

"Cough...cough...cough...", Mother Mu held her chest as she coughed badly.

"Mom!", Rao Rang poured water for her and placed it near her lips watching as she drank it.

"Are...are you okay now?", Rao Rang asked, his eyes turning red. Mother Mu nodded and placed her head on the pillow to rest.

...

Mother Yun covered Yun Xi with a blanket and kissed her forehead goodnight.

"Goodnight Mommy!", Yun Xi hugged her mother and kissed her on the cheeks.

"Goodnight dear" Mother Yun smiled sweetly at her daughter and then left.

Yun Xi looked through the window at the sky and saw a shooting star.

"A shooting star!", Yun Xi exclaimed happily and jumped out of her bed holding a pink teddy bear to the window looking at the sky.

"I have to make a wish!", Yun Xi hugged her pinky teddy bear and smiled closing her eyes.

"Dear shooting star I wish to make many friends and to be happy at my new home!", Yun Xi opened her eyes and jumped back into her bed hugging the teddy bear to sleep.

...

Rao Rang covered his mother with a blanket and kissed her goodnight on her forehead. Mother Yun smiled at her son and closed her eyes to sleep.

As Rao Rang turned around he saw a shooting star but he didn't even care about it, his face expressionless. In the past he used to believe in it and always make wishes for his mother to be cured but nothing had happened instead their situation had gotten worse. He layed his mat on the floor and layed on it looking up at the ceiling, there was a joke through it so he could see the stars. He turned to the other side and closed his eyes.

...

Yun Xi helped her mother pick up their last stuffs into the truck. Her mom then carried her into the car since she had short legs and couldn't climb in.
