173 A Surge of Magic (2)

The commander walked inside without hesitation, brushing past Aether, then signalled him to close the door.

"Apologies to Lady Iris for barging into her room like this," She said, taking a deep breath. "But I'd rather avoid any eavesdroppers." She glanced at the confused and somewhat scared expressions of the others. "Aether," She turned to face the young man. "The Lord has locked himself in the obsidian room, and Madam Yotsura is currently in charge. She will probably call for you soon, considering what's going on." She pointed out the window.

The colourful lights continued to hang in the air. "These may look beautiful, but you know what they mean."

Aether nodded. She wasn't wrong. "When the lights of the wild worlds light up our caves, no longer will our lives remain the same." He muttered. "I wish it stayed as a fairy tale." He sighed. "Madam being in charge is better." He then added. "She will at least value your lives."
