5 Chapter 5

Princess Liviana's POV

After few minutes of going back and forth in the room, the so almighty Prince Conrad hasn't returned yet so, I decided to follow him outside to look for him. The way he looked earlier, he must be in pain that's why he's acting strange. He's such a weird guy, not to mention his growling.

As I walk along the hallway, I heard growls and howling that gave me goosebumps, not to mention that it's already dawn. I will not be surprised if a pack of wolves may be residing in this kingdom's forest. I just remembered the number of wolves hunting other wolves near our kingdom. They gave me creep.

My feet lead me to the garden. The moonlight allowed me to see all the pretty flowers swaying with the wind. I caress both of my arms due to the chilly weather. Going out at dawn while wearing a silk satin nightdress without a robe is a big thumbs down.

"Your highness, are you here?" I called him, but I got no response. I roamed around the garden to look for him but to no avail. I was sure the growling came from here. I think looking for him is a bad idea.

As I turn my back to return to the castle, I stopped because of a loud howling coming not far from me. I feel all my hair on the back of my neck stand up, and my whole body feels numb. Then in a second, one big black wolf appeared right in front of me. It's growling in anger while showing its sharp teeth. I feel as nervous and scared as hell. It stepped forward in my direction while growling. My mind tells me to run, but I cannot move an inch.

As it moves closer to me, another two wolves suddenly showed up and pounced the black one. The wolf with a bright brown fur pinned down the black wolf, and it bites it to his neck. The black wolf cried in pain, but the brown wolf did not let it go until it stopped moving. I was trembling in shock. Is it dead? Suddenly, I was startled when the brown wolf looked at me. I don't know what gotten into me, but I was mesmerized by his glowing brown eyes even though I feel scared at the same time. It was looking directly into my eyes.

"Lili!" I saw Connor running towards me. He was shocked to see the wolves in the garden, but he still picks me up and carries me bridal-style inside the castle. I cannot even say anything. "What were you doing out there during this time?!" He yelled. I did not respond until he puts me down on a couch. Colten, who I don't even notice was also there, gave me a glass of water. I tried my best to calm myself.

"Are you alright now, Lili?" Colten asked. He's standing beside me while stroking my back.

I nodded as a response though I'm still trembling in fear. It's the first time I saw wolves near me, and that brown wolf killed the black one. I looked at Connor, who still looks mad.

"I apologize. I didn't know that there are a lot of werewolves here. I was just looking for your highness." I explained. I know he already knew who is this your highness that I am talking about. "He looked in pain before he stormed out of his room that's why I followed him." I hugged myself as memories of what happened earlier flashed in my mind.

"You should've informed us. You're not even familiar with the castle yet." Connor's face has softened. He's now grinning. I raised my left eyebrow to question his sudden change of mood. "Oh! Don't mind me. I'm just amazed how concern you are to our brother." His silly smile widens.

"I wasn't concern about him, okay? I'm just… just bored and wanted to do something." I explained while diverting my look in a different direction.

"I doubt about it." He sat beside me while chuckling. "Seriously, we apologize for what you just witnessed. Wolves are everywhere; we cannot promise that you cannot see more of them." I sighed. My first day in this kingdom was horrible. "So, how's the first night?"

"It's horrible." I answered, not knowing what he meant.

"What? You mean you didn't sex?!" My jaw dropped as he yelled the last word. The last word gave me shivers all over my body. Gross.

"What the hell are you talking about?!" I yelled as well.

"You were married, so I was expecting you had sex!" He's still yelling.

"No, of course not! We cannot stand being with each other! Oh my gosh, gross!" Then with that, he laughed. I also heard Colten chuckling. What the hell is wrong with these two? "I think waking you up at this hour made you two insane." I commented while they're laughing.

After the horrible and embarrassing moments with the two princes, I decided to return to his 'your highness's room. I feel so tired, I haven't sleep yet.

I walked into his room and dropped myself on the couch. I grabbed my blanket and wrapped it up to myself. I should forget this day, I shouldn't have followed him. Worrying about him will lead me to death.

Prince Conrad's POV

As I walk back to my room, I saw Connor and Colten waiting for me. "What happened?" Connor asked. I can smell Princess Liviana's scent from these two, my wolf growl. I remembered the scene where the rogue was about to attack her. I felt my whole body fired up to get her to safety. My heart beats abnormally for the first time in my life. I feel like I was scared as hell, not for myself but her.

"He's a rogue. They knew about the Princess, and they are targeting her to get back to us." I answered. Luckily, we found the accomplice that I killed and spilled all the information he knew.

"I won't let them!" Colten yelled.

"What can you do, huh? You're still a pup." Connor teased him.

"I'm not a pup anymore, right Conrad?" He asked for my help. He will never win against Connor.

"How is she?" I asked them. She looked frightened when she saw us. I wonder what she was thinking that time. My wolf wanted to go near her, he liked to assure her that everything was alright, but I stopped him when I saw how afraid she was.

"She's alright. She was concerned about you." Connor answered while grinning.

I growl. "That must be your illusion." I said as I walk away. She's in danger now because of us. Now I got myself someone to protect to. Damn it.
