"What?" The maid, whose face had suddenly gone pale, asked with round eyes when she heard Dan's instruction.

The king narrowed his eyes suspiciously as he looked at the maid, "You heard him. Drink from it!" The king ordered.

"I... I'm not worthy enough to drink from the King's cup," The maid said with her head bowed.

"True enough. I will have one of the maids get you a cup you are worthy of," Dan said and headed for the door.

He returned a moment later with one of the king's guards and a maid who was holding a cup, "Hand her the cup," Dan instructed the maid with the cup, and she quickly did as she was told.

The maid who had come to serve the king took the cup with shaky hands. She knew that the best thing for her to do at that moment was to drink from the poisoned water and die.
