3 The Daughter

"Mommy!" "Mommy!" a cute voice called her.

Jillian snap out from her daydreaming and turned off the tv

The little girl said excitedly "hurry mom! I am very excited, I am going to school. I am a big girl now"

"yes you're a big girl now," she said sweetly while she picked her up "now go to your room and fix your bed and go take a shower"

"yes mom!" she said adorably.

"Be careful!"

She added "hey slow down don't run"

Jillian smiled to herself thinking her daughter is so excited about school, other kids will be afraid of going to school but her daughter is different.

Jillian walk-in into her kitchen and saw her mom cooking "Mom I told you, I want to cook for my baby"

"how about I'm cooking for my granddaughter?" she while cooking

"nothings wrong ma, I just want to cook her something special"

"Don't worry I'm cooking her favorite" as she lifts the pan "Jill do you think I can still work"

"Why ma?" as she pulled the stool to sit.

"Well you're struggling, your daughter is growing up. Your pay is not enough to keep up, we have so many bills, maybe I could help a bit."

Jillian walked up to her mother and held her hand, looking into her eyes.

"Ma, don't worry about it, you and Angel are my responsibility. Don't worry about work I have my savings and I can still keep up" she explained

"No I want to work, Jillian I know you, I can see that these days you are stressed" her mother replied with worries in her eyes.

She's right. I'm very stressed these days about work. My boss is hurrying up to meet the monthly quota.

"Ma you're gonna tire yourself out--"

Her mother just stared at her.

"Okay, okay ma, I give up" Jillian raised her hand as a sign of giving up "but I will choose your job, okay?"

Her mother hugs her "Thank you Jill" now check your daughter, I will finish this"

She kisses her cheeks then walk "no worries and thank you ma"

She sighed, She's worried that something is gonna happen.

After she talks to her mother, Jillian walks up to their room and checks up on her.

"Are you done my little Angel?" she asked her daughter.

"Mommy I'm big now! Yes, I'm done" Angel responded.

Jillian chuckles "okay, okay let's go to wash"

At the gate of the school.

"Remember what did I tell you"

"Yes mom, be friendly, be good, and learn" she recites.

Jillian pats "okay that's good, I gotta go. Don't worry your teacher is aunt Marie okay?"

She kissed her and bid her goodbye.

Marie approaches her.

"your baby is a big girl now ha?"

"Yes she's a big girl now" Jillian responded as they watched her daughter walking into her classroom.

"Anyway, I gotta go, Marie, see you later" she bid her goodbyes.

She walked up into her car and then drove. After 40 minutes of driving, she reached her office.

Jillian works at a company that sells goods. It has six floors, a small company compared to 8th avenue.

"Hi manong, Am I late?" She talked to the guard.

"no ma'am beautiful you have- the guard checks his watch- 3 minutes" he said in flirtious tone.

"Thank you manong, you're teasing" she chuckles a bit then signs her biometrics.

Manong opened the door for her " I gonna go in manong"

As she walks swiftly to the elevator she greets the front desk.

"Hi Sheila, Shannon did not go today?" she asked.

"Unfortunately yes and I heard we'll have a meeting later" Sheila answered.

"for what?"

"and John said that he had a surprise for you" She beats around the bush.

Weird is there something I don't know she asks herself.

At the elevator, she pressed button 5 which is her office at.

As the door closed someone shouted "hold the door"

"Hi Jillian," John greeted while panting.

"Hello John" she replied dryly.

Then John stands beside her still breathing heavily. Jillian just stands there like no one is around. John was her colleague and he has a crush on Jillian but she only ignores him.

"Something happening today John?" Jillian ask

"Yeah, you'll know it later" he said mysteriously

After that short exchange silence permits the elevator. I don't to talk to John because he talks about weird things and I did not like that.

Ting!

the door opened.

Our co-workers were looking at us asking like 'why I and John are together' I ignore their stares and continue walking to my desk.

"Hey Jill--" one approaches me and tried to talk to me I cut her off it's not time for a talk.

"Not now okay? We are at work" I stopped my co-worker.

Several hours later.

"Everyone we have a meeting please go in the meeting room"

We heard an announcement saying we will gather in the meeting room.

Then I cleaned my desk and arranged the papers.

I heard gossip from the other desk "I think we'll have a new boss" "why do you think that?" "Bla Bla Bla"

New boss? The owner is selling our company? Meaning they want to lose some employees to cope up with the loss. I'll think about it later right now I'm retouching my makeup.

"hurry up guys! Everyone is now at the hall"

I hurriedly finish my make-up and walk together with them.

In the elevator, they continue chattering.

I close my eyes and relax. Thinking about what happened.

We walked up to the meeting room and found everyone there.

"Since everyone is here we'll start the meeting"

John walked up to me but I ignored him.

"I've been working here since the start" our boss started talking.

He talks about the progress of the company, the ups, and downs just like bidding goodbye.

"The company owned you, people, for working your best here but I hope you work harder when I leave" everyone gasp

"Everyone you have a new boss"
