28 Chapter 28: Post-Internship

"Oooaaaahh..." With a big yawn, Ren awoke from his long slumber as he looked at the time and saw it was 1pm, "Damn!" He yelped as he realised, after doing the maths, he had slept for around 15 hours.

Not only that, he was also shocked when he opened his messages and saw notifications from the boys group chat, Rumi, and the third years. It seemed everyone instantly contacted him as soon as the internships finished as they were mostly from last night and this morning

He opened the boys group chat to see everyone having made fun of Bakugo's atrocious hair - which Sero took a photo of whilst they were at their internship.

Last night, they were talking about Stain and how he's all over the media with many people believing his little speech was right or whatnot.

He looked at the time of the messages and realised they were 2 hours ago, so he just closed the group chat without saying anything before opening Rumi's messages.

'Looks like she's a photo-girl, ay?' He thought with a smile as he looked at the bundle of photos she had sent since last night. One of them was a selfie of her doing the peace sign with a caption of [Goodnight], this morning she sent a photo of her breakfast with the caption being [Please come back and make food for me :(], and some other photos.

Ren took the initiative to take a 0.5x zoom selfie with his phone above his head for jokes, sending it to Rumi with a caption of [Good afternoon. Too bad, you gotta cook for yourself bozo, have fun without me lol] before closing that DM and opening the third years group chat where they just talked about their hero studies.

He then closed the chat after saying nothing again, and opened the DMs of Mirio where he asked if he wanted to go gym and then hang out a little after.

He then opened the DMs of Yuyu, Tamaki, and Nejire and realised they all said the same thing meaning they had already planned to hang out today.

[Why not, seems fun] He sent to all of them before messaging in the group chat and saying to meet at the gym in about an hour to which they agreed with the meetup time.

Making some quick toast, beans and eggs, Ren gobbled it down before brushing his teeth, changing into some black shorts and a black shirt, and then finally leaving the house.

He had arrived at the gym at 2pm on the dot and saw the third years gang waiting outside for him.

"You're finally here!" Yuyu complained with a groan, causing Ren to show her his phone which had the time of 2pm showing, "I said 2pm, and it's 2pm, so I'm on time" He replied bluntly, causing the others to chuckle.

"Let's get the gains, guys! WOO!" Mirio cheered in excitement as he jumped up before leading the group into the gym as they followed behind him quietly.

And so, the group did their own workouts for an hour and a half before meeting in front of the changing rooms after they had all washed up and cleaned themselves so as to not stink.

"How was your guys' workouts?" Mirio asked as the group began to exit the gym.

"It was good!/I want to sleep... and die..." Yuyu, Nejire and Ren replied energetically whilst Tamaki mumbled with his body shaking, "I hate working out..." He added with a cry.

"Say, how'd your internship go, Ren?" Nejire asked as the group left the gym and walked in a random direction, "Who'd you work under? Did anything exciting happen? Did you learn anything?" She asked a barrage of questions, clearly having a lot of energy in her even after working out.

"You sure you worked hard enough at the gym there, Nejire?" Ren joked with a chuckle, "Anyway, it went good. Mirko, the hero I interned with, taught me quite a bit. We mainly just sparred though rather than anything" He hummed before adding, "Oo! Did any of you see in the news about the incident at the 8/11 in Hiroshima on Thursday?" He asked the group.

"Uh..." Nejire, Yuyu and Tamaki turned their heads to Mirio with heavy expectations and hope, "I did! I still find it crazy how people can do that" He said with a frown, ignoring the synchronised sighs of relief from the other three.

"Yeah, I was part of that-" He said in a way that could be misinterpreted, which was evident when he saw their eyes widen in worry, "No no no, as in, me and Mirko were there and stopped it from escalating for the worse"

"Aahhh... okay, phew!" The third years exhaled a heavy breath, joyful that their first year friend wasn't some arsonist villain in the end, "But that's awesome!" Nejire clapped her hands, "Good job on stopping it" She congratulated with a smile, patting Ren's back.

"Ow! You slapped too hard!" Ren cried as his back winced, whether it was because the pain from Rumi was still there, or because of PTSD.

"Tee hee!" Nejire responded by sticking her tongue, "Now, onwards we go!" She pointed forward, her excitement levels going through the roof for some reason.

After spending a few hours hanging out, the group eventually split, with Ren going home by himself whilst Nejire and Yuyu went their way and Tamaki and Mirio went another.

Whilst Ren was walking home, an interesting conversation was happening between Nejire and Yuyu.

- With Nejire and Yuyu -

"Say, Nejire..." Yuyu spoke up as she walked besides Nejire with her hands behind her head.

"Hm?" Nejire turned her head to look at her best friend, "What is it, Yuyu?" She asked as they carried on walking.

"When do you plan on telling Ren you like him?" Yuyu asked bluntly, causing Nejire's face to redden before jumping to the side of the path they were walking on and crouching down, hiding her face between her knees in embarrassment

"W-What do you mean...?" Her voice was muffled as they were placed between her knees.

"You know exactly what I mean, Nejire..." Yuyu sighed as she walked to Nejire's side and crouched down beside her, her hand on Nejire's back, "Do you plan on doing it anytime soon?" She skipped any filler talk and went straight to the main question she had.

"I... I don't know" Nejire's voice saddened as she revealed half her face to Yuyu to make the conversation more proper, "I kinda like how we are, you know? And... I think it's best if I don't distract either of our studies by being in a relationship... A-And! I don't even know if... he likes me back" She kept adding more and more points to her case.

"I mean, I'm not the best when it comes to this kind of thing as I've never had a boyfriend myself, but you know what they say: You'll never know until you try! Or... something like that" Yuyu said in order to cheer her friend up, it working slightly as Nejire had a small smile on her face.

"I know... I'll probably just wait for the right time to do it, I don't think now's a good times - especially since as a first year, he has a lot coming up that he'll need to focus on" Nejire replied as she stood back up, with Yuyu doing the same, and they carried on walking.

"Well, what if you never get 'the right time'?" Yuyu asked, worried for her friend, "What if something happens and you don't get the change to ask him out?" She hinted at the events of another girl liking him, etc, but didn't want her friend to worry and overthink or panic so she worded it that way. 

"Then... I guess we just weren't meant to be" Nejire muttered with a sigh as a fake smile appeared on her face, "You know what, let's just drop this subject! Hahaha!" She faked a laugh to try and make her mood better, "How's your sister, Yuyu?".

Understanding the assignment, Yuyu stopped talking about Ren as they talked about random topics like their families, how their hero studies went, and other things.

- Back with Ren - 

After arriving home, he took his clothes off and put it in the washing bin before putting on some fresh boxers to sleep in as he laid down in bed and went on his phone.

He once again opened his messages to see all his active contacts having sent him messages or photos.

The boys group chat spent 2 hours talking about new games that came out and other random topics, but other than that nothing else really happened other than most of the boys complaining about their internships - mainly Tokoyami and Bakugo.

Oh, right, Kaminari also informed the group about how Mineta messaged him and started crying and complaining about women after his internship with Mount Lady, which caused the boys to laugh as they talked about it for a few minutes.

The group chat with the third years had a few messages just basically saying how [Today was a good day] and stuff, but other than that nothing else happened.

He opened his private DMs with each of the third years and saw they all said goodnight, so he did the same to them before opening his messages with Rumi.

Once again, she had sent quite a few photos of herself and messages. Replying to Ren's photo, Rumi sent a photo of her doing the same 0.5x zoom selfie with a caption of [Wow, you look ugly, how about you come to my kitchen and in exchange for you cooking me food I can fix your face ;)].

A few hours after that, she sent a mirror photo of her in pink joggers and a white tank-top with her flexing her right bicep, [My muscles bigger than yours, and I mainly train legs] With a laughing emoji.

Ren replied to that message with a selfie of him flipping her off, with the message being [Kys].

'Looks like she's still awake it seems' Ren figured, seeing as to how Rumi replied instantly with a middle finger selfie of her own with [Show me how].

The two then spent about 20 minutes or so messaging (Bullying) each other before Rumi sent a photo of her laying in bed doing a peace sign saying [Goodnight]. Ren replied with a peace sign selfie of himself with a [Goodnight] before he also went to sleep, excited for tomorrow as he knew that All Might would make them do some race to show off what the students learnt during their internships.

A/N: What do you guys think of the message function/side that I've added to the story? Should I add some more (Not a crazy amount, just a few messages here and there most chapters) or get rid of it. I added it so that it can show MC and his relationships some more.
