25 Chapter 25: Internship Part 2

After declaring Ren's presumed future death, Mirko's axe kick fell upon Ren's shoulder.

"Hah!" Mirko cried in satisfaction as she felt her foot collide with his shoulder, "Eh-?" What she wasn't expecting was for Ren to use the momentum of her kick to perform a flip as he sent his own axe kick towards the top of her head.

"Hoh...?" With a proud smirk, Mirko jumped back which caused Ren's kick to hit the floor, "Why're you not using your quirk?" She asked as he noticed her kick hadn't stopped like some of the other attacks from the sports festival before hitting him.

"No reason... except my pride right now is telling me to not use it" Ren chuckled as he balanced himself and got back into his stance, "It's also 'cos I can't be too reliant on my ability, can I?" He asked with a shrug, a smirk of his own appearing on his face from his excitement.

"Heh..." Mirko snickered a little before breaking into a laughter, "Hahahaha!" She cried so hard Ren could see tears welling up in her eyes, much to his confusion, "You..." She forced back her laughter as she pointed at Ren's figure

"I like you, kid..." She announced, "Prepare yourself, I'll be getting a little more serious!" She stated as appeared above Ren once more for another axe kick, "Don't die on me, kid!" She shouted with a battle-hungry look on her face.

"An axe kick, again?-" Ren questioned in disappointment as he raised his arm up to block it.

"You sure?" Mirko asked rhetorically as she missed Ren purposefully and landed on the ground, "Hah!" She span herself around and sent a low hook kick to Ren's legs.

With no words being said, Ren jumped over the kick with ease, 'Too easy-' He thought cockily before Mirko's foot appeared in front of his face much to his surprise, 'Damn! She's good!' He thought with a smile before blocking his face as he couldn't do much whilst mid-air.

Her foot collided with Ren's arms that he used to block her kick, "Nice reflexes, I'll give you that" Mirko complimented as she witnessed Ren shrug of her attack like it was nothing, 'Durable as well, ay...?' She thought as Ren stretched a little after the warmup.

"Thanks for the warmup, now my muscles aren't as tight, Ahh..." Ren said with a sigh of pleasure after finishing his stretches, "Now, I'd say it's my turn, dontcha think?" 

"Try me" Mirko replied back cockily.

"Oh, I will..." Ren muttered loud enough for her to hear before he appeared in front of her in an instant, "Just don't, regret it!" He declared as he sent a simple reverse/spinning hook kick to her face.

"Tch, is that it?" Mirko couldn't help but kiss her teeth in disappointment, "I expected better with all that chatting-" She said as she simply moved her arms up to block Ren's 'simple' kick.

Suddenly, much to her surprise, she was caught off-guard by Ren's kick transitioning into a grab which locked her arms in place for a bit.

'Shit!' Mirko widened her eyes as her guard was now open after Ren kicked her arms away, allowing for Ren to use the momentum of the grab - which Taejin and Mori called [Hoe Grab] - to send a 360 kick to Mirko's unguarded face.

*BAM!* 

The kick collided with Mirko's pretty face, pushing her back a few metres as she held her face before spitting out some blood.

"Hah... Hahaha" Mirko, instead of being disheartened like many probably would be, began to laugh in ecstasy, "Yes... Yes! I knew you'd be a good opponent!" She exclaimed as her lips began to curl up further, "You'll be my sparring partner for the next week or so!" She announced as she clapped her hands, ignoring the dry blood beside her mouth.

"Fine by me" Ren replied with a smile, "You'll be a nice moving punching bag" He said, as Mirko walked up to him whilst laughing.

"Hahaha, I really, really like you, kid!" Mirko said as she pat his shoulder, glad that the student she chose wasn't some weakling who was scared to say what he wanted, "What's your name again, brat?" She asked

"Ren, Ren Kiyotaka" He answered as she stopped patting his shoulder and instead left her shoulder there to rest on it.

"Nice name!" Mirko replied, "The name's Rumi, call me that when we're not on duty, got it?" She said in a tone that said 'you can't say no'

"Yes sir, Rumi sir!" Ren joked as he did a little salute, much to Rumi's delight at not having a boring, dry student spend the week with her.

"Good good" Rumi went back to patting Ren's shoulder for a little bit before stopping and crossing her arms together underneath her breasts, "Now, how about we actually do some hero stuff, ay?" She asked with a smirk.

"Hell yeah! About time!" Ren punched the air in joy after waiting all this time, "So, when're we leaving?" He asked.

"Right now" She replied.

"... Right now right now?" He repeated in clarification, to which Rumi nodded her head and said, "Right now right now" 

"Chop chop, get changed into your hero costume and let's get a move on!" Rumi kicked Ren's back 'gently' which sent him flying towards a room with its door open, "Get changed in there, I'll be ready in about 10 minutes, so if you finish before then just chill on the couch in the living room there" Rumi said as she pointed behind her to the living room that they sparred in.

And so, Ren and Rumi got changed into their hero costumes and met up in her living room.

"The hell? Why're you wearing a blindfold?" Rumi asked as she arrived in her living room after changing into her hero costume to see Ren leaning back on her couch with his hero costume and a white blindfold on his face.

"Part of my hero costume. I can see, don't worry" He replied as she sat down beside him and began to inspect the blindfold by getting closer to his face.

"You sure? How many fingers am I holding up?" Rumi - Mirko when she's on hero duty - put her hand in front of Ren's face and began to alternate how many fingers she held up.

"4... 1... 0... 5... Hey, 6 is cheating... 3... 2..." He got them all perfectly correct, causing Rumi to lift herself off of the couch, "Okay, I believe you... now, let's go!" She said as she walked out with Ren standing a little behind her to her left, "Remember, call me Mirko when we're on hero duty" She reminded, to which Ren nodded back.

"Time to hunt some villains!" Mirko cheered to pump herself up as she began to run at a fast speed towards any spot with crime in the area, "Don't fall behin-" She called out as she turned around and expected Ren to be at least a few metres behind her.

"Don't worry, I won't" Ren said with a smile as he ran right beside her, "Oop, don't trip" He 'warned' as he saw Mirko almost trip.

"Heh... don't think I'm seriously trying, newbie!" Mirko smirked before running even faster, surprising Ren as he began to falter behind a little, "What's wrong? Can't keep up?" Mirko challenged.

And so, Mirko spent the day defeating a few villains around the town and teaching Ren the basics of what hero duty is all about whilst saving any troubled civilians along the way
