The Proceedings

The door was opened by a stern-looking butler who was just as scary as the bulky man who'd met us at the airport. He was also a big man, broad in the shoulders with a strong body that filled out his pristine uniform well.

I could tell in the way he carried himself and the calculating look in his eye that this man was more than a little dangerous.

Just what sort of wonderland had I stepped into?

The butler took our coats and hung them up, then turned wordlessly to walk further into the manor. Delilah followed him so I followed her, and we were lead to a fully outfitted parlour, complete with a massive fireplace and a round table.

A middle-aged man was sitting in a high backed armchair with some papers in his hands and on the small table in front of him. Beside his chair, a woman with black hair swooped into a high ponytail stood, looking very fashionable in a backless jumpsuit and chunky heels.
