After the news broadcast finished, the professor sent us off to do our own things while he probably went to look up the Fantastic Four were mutants or not. Speaking of the Fantastic Four, with them around, there probably will be more threats that might need our involvement someday.

I decided I'll worry about that when the time comes. Right now, I should probably try to recall what's supposed to happen in the next couple of weeks or months. If I remember correctly, Magneto is supposed to be planning some kind of survival of the fittest or something between the Brotherhood and the X-Men. Although this might change since most things are different here, then they were in the show.

I was about to go into town when the professor stopped me at the door.

"Ah, Jean, there's something I need you to do for me," he said.

"Can't one of the others do it?" I asked him.

"They don't have the certain skills necessary for the task at hand," Xavier said.

"So that tells me that you need a telepath or telekinetic or both," I said with a sigh. "So, what's the sitch?"

"Sitch?" Charles questioned me.

"You know, like situation," I explained.

"Ah, well the situation is that Cerebro picked up on young mutant in Louisiana using his powers," the professor started explaining, which made me think that he picked up on Gambit's signature, but that never happened in the show, I mean he was already with Magento by the time he was introduced.

"You'll be going with Storm, I'll have the Blackbird prepped and ready to go for you two," the professor said as he rolled away.

'Crap, what else did he say'

[Host should have been listening]

'Well, excuse me for being surprised that I'm gonna go try to recruit Gambit. He's like one of my favorite X-Men characters ever.'

'Oh, so you're gonna go back to silence then, huh?'

Finally, a quest, but what's up with all the question marks? And why would recruiting Gambit leave me with an unknown failure if I don't get him to join the X-Men?

I guess I'll just have to find out later. Oh well, I better grab my suit and something to wear that'll help me blend in.

Hmm, I wonder if I can get him to join. Would he be able to help me get Rouge to join, too?

A/N: even though I'm not really planning for Jean to have a pairing until the second or third volume of this book, I would like to know who y'all would like to see her with.
