"What are you doing here!?" Auriel and I said in unison.

He shook his head in disbelief. "I never thought you'd actually show up in a gathering of wealthy people."

"Now that fate has brought us together again, I'll take you down this time!"

He sighed. "Miss Beatrice, I'm warning you. If you make any moves here, my allies will be after you and they're not as kind as I am. So please don't get yourself in trouble."

"You have allies? I thought you worked alone."

"Be a good girl, ok?" He disappeared through the crowd.

"Hey! Wait!"

I ran after him, but he was quick to camouflage himself and hide within the crowd.

If he's here, then there's probably a book he intends to steal.

My gaze landed on a poster highlighting the items to be sold at the auction. There was only one book among the items.

It's probably that one!

I looked for a door that led backstage. I remembered the door where Cyrus entered and tried to look for it. It wasn't long until I found it.
