1 The Beginning

A young teenage boy; an abusive father; the perfect murder. No one knew what was to happen later the next evening. If someone knew, maybe they could have stopped it. It was a beautiful day on Friday the 13th of October and a young boy by the name of Eric was getting ready for school. Or, at least, trying to. He is fourteen years old and a freshman in high school. His mother is in an abusive relationship, but doesn't realize it. A good example of it is when Eric is trying to get ready for school when his father walks in.

"Hey, kid, what the hell is taking so long!?" His father, Jack, yelled. Jack is a 30-year-old man and abuses his son and wife. He has blonde hair and bright green eyes. He drinks a lot, so he has a beer belly.

"I just got up and I'm tired", Eric replied, a little frightened.

"Well, stop standing around in your underwear and hurry the hell up!", Jack said as he slapped Eric across the face. '

"Yes, sir"

When Eric finished, he went downstairs to get some toaster waffles only to find his father yelling at and hitting his mother, June. June is a small, kind woman who is exquisite and is a wonderful cook. While she has a lot of excellent qualities, she is blind. Especially with her relationship with Jack.

"I don't care what you think! I want that damn kid out!", he heard Jack say.

"I don't want him out!", June yelled back. Eric saw Jack hit June and shove her into the wall. "Dad! Stop!" Yelled Eric.

"Don't tell me what to do, you little shit!", Jack said and hit him. "You do not tell me how I live my life! The next time you yell at me or speak without permission, you can leave! I don't care where the fuck you go, but I want you out of my house. Lucky for you, your mother wants you to stay and she won't give up. One more time, boy. One more!" said his father before he went to the freezer to grab the toaster waffle box and take it to the toaster.

On his way to school, he said to his mom, "Mom?"

"Yes, Dear?"

"Why do you love Jack?"

"Well, he loves me, of course, and you call him Dad", this made Eric get angry.

"No, he doesn't. He only cares about himself. And he drinks all the time. He is an alcoholic! How can you love this guy, Mom!? How can you say he loves you!?"

"Because he does! And if you don't stop talking shit about your father, I might just let him throw you out!" His mother surprised and slightly frightened Eric. She had never yelled at him like that. Sha had also never threatened him. So when they arrived at the school, Eric didn't even bother to say goodbye even though his mother did.

Jack's rubbing off on Mom. It'll be no time before Mom drinks, too. I have to help her see that Jack is not a good husband or father. Honestly, how could she be that blind?

His thoughts distracted Eric until his best friend, Flicker, bumped into him by accident.

"Hey, Flix! What's up?"

"You looked distracted, are you okay? Is it your dad, again?"

"It's always him. My mom yelled at me in the car and said that if I don't stop talking shit about him, I'll get kicked out of the house. Would you like any coffee?"

"That's not good. So your mom is doing what your dad does. How can she be so blind? Yes, please"

"She is blind, but each time I try to get her to see it, she just gets farther and farther away from the truth. What kind?"

"Pumpkin Spice Latte. What are you going to do?"

"I don't know what I can do. I think I'll just come over to your house and stay there," he said, as they walked into the cafe, "Hi, I'll take a white chocolate mocha with extra shots and a pumpkin spice latte, please?" When the barista went to go fix the drinks, the two friends continued the conversation they were having.

"I'm fine with you coming over and all, but I don't want to see you get into any trouble. That's all," Flix said in reply, looking at him with worried eyes.

"Don't worry about me, Flix. I'll be fine. I just need to get out of the house," Eric said with a sigh.

"I am your best friend, and if you will get hurt by something I do or something I let you do, I will not do it. And that's that," Flix said triumphantly as she started towards the school, "Now come on, slowpoke! School's about to start!"

"Hey, wait up!" They both ran to the school building and made it just as the first bell rang. They went to one of the classes they had together.

After school, Eric went to Flix's house, ignoring all her protests and arguments. When they got there, Flix's mom saw them and said, "Why hello, Eric! I did not expect to see you here today!"

"Yeah, it was sort of spontaneous, huh? Well, we should probably get upstairs, now," Eric answered and went upstairs with Flix.

"What do you want to do?"

"I don't know, we could play board games"

"We could cook"

"We could do homework"

"We could bake"

"We could plan the perfect murder," as Eric said this, the whole room went silent. Even the dog stopped barking.

"Um...Okay, I don't see a problem with that as long as we don't actually do it. Yeah, let's plan the perfect murder"

"Great! We need a victim first"

"Okay, I have an idea I think you might like"

"Who, Flicker?"

"..."

"Who?"

"Uh, the person is..."

"Who is it, Flix?" Eric said, sternly.
