8 Revenge or Die

"Could it be the power that allows me to absorb spirits?" I wondered privately to myself. "It must be it."

"Anyway, that's probably all the basic knowledge you need to know. You'll learn about the other Power Levels when you get there. Do you have any questions for me?" Kitiara was in full teacher mode.

"I don't even know where to begin." I sighed deeply. "I have too many questions, too many things I do not know."

"Well, why not you start with what you DO know. What the hell are you? How did you get here? How did you get a physical body?" Kitiara switched from teacher mode to detective mode in an instant.

I didn't really hesitate at that point. What's there to hide about my past life? I told her about my background and my experiences in the Lower Heaven. I did not tell her about the spirits and the lightning which gave me a physical body though. I figured that I would hold on to that information until I knew for certain it was safe to tell her.

I had enough of trusting people after what that goddamned Jason Green did to me.

"Hmmm. If any world can be a "Black" world, this one is definitely on the top of the list. As absurd as you sound, I shall withhold my judgment for now." Kitiara quietly with surprising calm.

I had actually expected a more incredulous response from her.

"Anyway, Mr Perfect Elemental body, can you sense your energy core?" Kitiara said in a slightly teasing, slightly jealous, slightly happy-for-me voice.

"Uh-huh. It's there." I nodded.

"What colour is it?" Kitiara asked curiously.

"It's Red Blue Green Brown Yellow Gray and Black." I said in the monotone voice people usually use while reading a list.

"It's WHAT?? … … … And Black??" Kitiara shouted in disbelief.

"It's Red Blue Gre-" I started to repeat myself with a slight chuckle.

"I know what they are!" Kitiara snapped. "It's a rhetorical question, dumbo."

"Hehehehe."

"So that's what a Perfect Elemental body is like." Kitiara muttered with a jealous sigh. "Your luck is off the charts. I think I should stick with you for the time being. God knows I need a bit of your luck to rub on me."

"Sure, I don't mind." I smiled at her. "But how are you going to convince the Dragon God to bring you along with me?"

"He said this is the Cloak of All Forms. If that's true, then he won't be able to detect me at all. No one can, except for you because you are the rightful owner of the cloak. I can go wherever I want, heck, I can even sit on his neck and he won't even notice. Heheheh." Kitiara 's eyes narrowed and her lips curled into a cunning smile.

"Really? If that's the case then awesome! You can join the entrance tests with me and we can both enroll into Pearl Academy together." I said with more excitement than I should have. I guess I was just happy the only person I knew in the world could actually come along with me to my great, scary adventure.

"A Black Dragon enrolling into Pearl Academy! Ha! That would be perfect…" She said with a mocking laugh. But her laugh dried up halfway as the idea blossomed in her mind.

"Wait a minute… A Black Dragon enrolling into Pearl Academy! That would be PERFECT!" She shouted excitedly, saying the exact same words as before but with an entirely different tone. "With the Cloak of All Forms, I could take the form of a Silver Dragon and enroll in Pearl Academy! And… and then I can steal all their secrets! Mwa ha ha!"

I rolled my eyes at her, but a smile was upon my lips. She was cold and beautiful before while she was still a fearsome Demon Highlord. But at that moment, she was just a cheeky, mischievous eighteen year old beauty, and my heart was stirring.

One hour passed by very quickly as Kitiara hatched all sorts of evil plans to steal this and that from Pearl Academy, culminating in a grand overthrow of the Metallic Dragon Emperor and crowning herself as the "Eternal Dragon Empress".

I merely smiled and pointed out several glaring plot holes in her plans, such as "how will you become a Princess of the Empire?" And "how will you defeat all twenty seven other Royal Princes and Princesses in the fight for the throne?"

She glared at me fiercely from ruining her pleasant daydream, causing me to chuckle slightly.

But the time for daydreams was over.

TINGLE! TINGLE!

Boom!

The Dragon God appeared very suddenly.

"Hello! I am rea- Holy smokes!! What happened?" I shouted in horror as I looked at the horrifically mangled Dragon God who had crash landed heavily on the ground next to me.

His golden armor was almost completely destroyed and golden liquid gushed from three major wounds on his neck, chest and stomach. His wounds were growing larger by the second, caused by thick layers of dark liquid eating away his flesh.

"Y-you!" The Dragon God rasped at me. "Take this to… ugh. To the Emperor of the Metallic Dragon Empire! You… must succeed. The Demons… are coming… Trap! Seven Demon Gods… ugh!" The Dragon God reached into his chest and ripped out his pulsating heart!

In an instant, the pulsating heart transformed into a medallion, and was thrust into my hand. The Dragon God's aura plummeted noticeably in strength.

"Run… They will… come soon. I will… hold them… huh?"

At that moment, Kitiara took off her Cloak of All Forms and revealed herself to him.

"Kit…" Rage flashed across his eyes for the briefest moment before transforming into hope. "You…"

"I will take your medallion." She said very simply. "And all of your powers. I will take revenge on the Demons."

"Ha… You wish… to gain my power? No… traitor… ugh." More golden liquid gushed out of his mouth.

"You aren't thinking straight." Kitiara said calmly. "Seal the power within me in six levels, each to be unlocked with the death of a Demon God. I will have to kill the Demon Gods to gain access to your full power."

The Dragon God's eyes dimmed slightly as his lifeblood flowed unhindered from his devastating wounds.

"Better this way, rather than giving your heart to the Emperor. You couldn't defeat them in your full strength, the Emperor won't be able to do so with just your heart. I will find a way to kill them, just as I found a way to take revenge for my parents, just as I found a way to hide from you using this Cloak of All Forms." Kitiara added in an as-a-matter-of-fact voice.

"Ha… One liar… One traitor… Am I to leave the…ugh fate of the Dragon race to you… both…? Haha… hahaha… ugh… If this is fate… then I ugh… Am not satisfied!!" The Dragon God roared in anguish.

"Better this way, than die with no one to carry your will." I said quietly. "You could have died without us around, and the dragon race would be without hope."

The Dragon God looked at me for a moment, before sighing in resignation.

"Both of you, give me your hands." He finally said softly.

"Both?" Kitiara said in confusion.

"I will split my power into the two of you, and they will be sealed into three parts, each to be unlocked with the death of a demon god. This power will implode in two years. Avenge me… or die." The Dragon God looked at us both with deep melancholy and a slight trace of hope. "I wish you both… good luck."

After saying that, his entire body started to glow impossibly bright, before disintegrating right before our eyes.

Swooosh.

His body particles and the medallion in my hand split into two equal parts and surged into Kitiara and me.

And as an added bonus to me, a golden wisp of energy also appeared and made its way into my body!
