Chapter 8 - Road of Heroes

In the middle of the "Slime Woods", a party of five were succumbing to two commander slimes and the other three were falling down to four soldier slimes.

*What can I do...* Angel thought.

Every attack didn't even scratch this monster. It was all completely ignored. *I can't even to any damage to this slime* pat pat pat

He tries, tries and tries again, but nothing. *I need to kill this monster, or he will ...*

"A-Angel! Darien i-is..." Kassandra cried.

*And now what ...?*, Looking at them, he found the guy full of ice and icicles, but alive. "Kassandra defend that side! I need to save Jun first..."

The twenty-year-old man slime couldn't digest more than one person at a time, so as soon as it saw Angel's carelessness, slapped him, sending him in the girls' direction.

"No...!" pat pat pat

Grabbing his sword said "Jun!!! Hold on! I'll save you!"

*There is no time, what I can do... What I can...* Angel thought.

Meanwhile, the other four slimes were attacking the three guys with numerical superiority

*These four slimes are big as us* Felix thought.

*What are they doing? They are against only two slimes, and we have four of them*, Andrew complained.

"Andrew, Isamu we need to take these quickly!" Looking at Angel's party. But their conditions weren't so good. They were all breathing heavily.

Isamu their main frontline, with a yari in his hands was keeping the monsters distant. His thrusts weren't doing anything to these monsters. But when the yari entered this jelly-like substance, a sucking force was trying to eat his weapon. *I can't keep up, if this goes too far, I'll be eaten too*, but sometimes the slimes didn't try to suck it, when his weapon went near its core.

Andrew had twin swords and one of them was already lost in the enemy body. *F... My beautiful Jessica, you dare to eat her!!! She is mine!* He was madly slashing without effect.

Felix however, had a little advantage, with a shield on the right he repels the slime's attack and with the shortsword on the left he kept some distance.

In that instant, not too far from them, "Ya'am ragn Ya'tur fo..." A strange chanting came from the rear.

"Behind me!" Felix yelled.

Crash! Crack! Crash!!! Most of the damage was taken by Felix, but the other two toke some.

Felix listen the chant aging and shouted again, "It's casting again! Take shelter!!!" Another furry of shots were almost ready.

Shish... An object of high speed passed in a fraction of a second. Crack!!! The woman's core slime failing to bear the impact, it shattered in two pieces. The speed of this arrow was enough to pass the massive body formed by the slime.

As this monster was collapsing on its weight, another arrow passed next to Isamu, killing one of the four minions monsters.

Thump!!! Something or someone collapsed, "Angel!!!" Kassandra screamed.

Sometime before

Angel, thrown by the slime, knocked of Sarah in the trajectory and stunned Kassandra. But he hasn't time to care about her when one was dying. So he charged at the big slime again.

Immediately, the woman slime launched a complete furry of icicles at him, leaving him on the ground in his desperation, *I don't want this end!!! I don't want this!! I don't want something like this repeat again!!!*

"Angel! Angel! Don't die! ...!?"

*Why again? Why!??* so he grabbed Sarah's bow and quiver, and one arrow burst out to kill the enemy.

Imaginary white feathers left by the trail of this arrow felt gently on the ground. Whenever one touched the ground an unknown white flowers were given birth, to replace its places.

Shattered the first slime, a second arrow burst out again. The power of these arrows surpassed Sarah's by a large margin.

As this invincible projectile left his fingers, in distances, something shattering was heard. Crack!!!

Without breaks, another one went out in the direction of the foursome of slimes. But the bow couldn't hold up any more to the tension, breaking in thousands of pieces. Bam!!!

Thump!!! Angel too, couldn't hold on to this mysterious power, as the bow was breaking, he collapsed too, leaving behind white feathers.

"Angel!Angel!!!..." Kassandra screamed until she had not a bit of breath.

On the way down the hills, almost at the end of the woods, the guys finally could see the town.

Far away three big structures and walls could be seen, all looking like European in the Middle Ages style.

The road ahead wasn't too much, but the party was exhausted, and they needed to carry three people.

"Look! Look! We are almost there!?" Sarah screamed with joy.

"There are two... Cough Cough... Watchtowers. Cough. Fast! Cough We need to take Angel, Darien and... Andrew to be seen by a doctor."

"J-jun, I-I'm fine. You need to be."

"Angel is awake!" Called loud, Felix.

Felix and Kassandra were supporting Angel, while Jun and Sarah were supporting Darien and lastly Isamu was helping Andrew.

"Where we are? The slimes!!? Jun...!!!"

Near him, Jun called him "I'm fine now, calm Angel. Cough. We are all safe and sound. Cough. Thanks to you. Cough cough"

"For what? I don't remember... You were in the slime... And I couldn't do anything..."

"You saved us, Angel! You were practically an angel. All your actions created feathers! Not common feathers but... Something unearthly!" Kassandra said.

"But... I don't remember anything... "

At the front of the gates to the town, an inscription was there "Welcome to Ilia"

"So this town is called Ilia"

"Probably, yes Sarah. I remember I heard it before... "

"What? This name."

"Oh yes, it's the name of Rome's founders' mother, Ilia."

"Stop there!" The guards at the front shouted loudly, "Call the Master! People from the South! People from the 'Road of Heroes'!!?"
